So here's a tip, before machining, measuring a drum> (an other tip. no need to buy a drum measuring tool just take it to the auto parts store or machine shop have them measure it) < all ways measure it from 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch from the opening. drums get what's known as belled, which is caused by the shoes expanding the drum over and over , with that said the most inner part of the drum will be smaller than the outside of the drum,, and 95% if not all of drums have this condition and should be machined when new brake shoes are installed.. if the drum discard is 10.090 and the drum measures 10.075 at the bottom chances that the most outer is larger because of belling and chances are the drum will not make the machining process.
Pete I emailed about the tool sale yet haven't gotten a reply. I'm interested in the power probes pricing but do I need to be a member of some sort to qualify for it?
Adjust the brake shoe clearance until you feel a slight drag as you rotate the drum. Double check by applying the parking brake pedal. It should only need 5 or clicks to fully engage. Double check the service manual for details and any official specs the OEM may have for your truck.
@@brandonwebb1819 That may result in shoes that are a little too tight. Again, check your service information for the correct procedure for your vehicle.
Thanks Mark! Means a lot coming from you.
Thanks! That's the aim of most of these videos. Basic for those that know it, but needed by those who don't.

Great video. May I suggest, at the end of the video, demonstrating the proper amount of brake shoe drag by spinning the tire.
Very nice video Pete! Great information for everyone!
