You have trouble with the side stand because you do it wrong, sorry but true. The hardest bike in the 70s were the old Honda 750s. I could watch a big man struggle, and teach a 100lb 12 year old girl to throw it up no problem. Secret revealed; 1. Stand by the rear tire. 2. Hold the left handle bar overhanded with your left hand. 3. Grab the seat rail underhanded with your right hand. 4. Stand on the center stand lever with your left foot, in a natural position, just adding your complete body weight by picking up your right foot. The force of adding no more than 100lbs of force down and lifting probably less than 10 lbs up places the heaviest bike on the stand with so little effort, that literally a child can do it!

I originally bought a 2018 KTM 1290 SAR because mt wife wanted to ride and I'm not a lightweight. One 15 minute ride and she said nope so for me I had a tall top heavy bike with way more power than I needed. I used to ride it in Off Road mode just to tame it down a little bit. Traded this year for a Husky 701 Enduro which is a great fun bike except on longer trips especially if it's windy. Now I'm eyeing up the bike you have but will still keep my 701. Probably a couple years away though. Thanks.

I have purchase a norden 901 Exp, very happy still going through the break in period. I thought I would regret going from GS 1250 to a 901 but it´s being the opposite. I was gunning for a Triumph 900 Rally Pro but decided I would be afraid to get it dirty. : P So I trimmed my "I wants" down to a Tenere 700. Then the Expedition popped onto my radar. Two emails and an hour after coming across it, my deposit was in, and I had my bike in June. I'm told they are all but impossible to get in the US at this point, as most US dealers were only allotted two. I love the windshield. It seems the perfect size for me at 6', 1". I get no buffeting through 65mph. The suspension is just how I like it, firm. When I round a corner on a mountain road at 50mph and slam into a pothole, I don't wince worried about the bike. It doesn't blink. On single track it feels like a 600cc bike, but then I'm a somewhat bigger guy. My only complaint so far is not being able to get the turn-by-turn navigation to work. I do have the bike paired to my phone, and I've tried every suggestion I've read but no luck so far. The dealership told me they are expecting a software fix (bike side I believe) to come out soon.

Mine is filthy right now! XD
My dealer said 3 other people had called about mine the day I picked it up.
I plan to create a video solely focused on Suspension tuning on this bike. It's not "hard" but does require some intense manual reading.
I've been able to get my bluetooth working, but have definitely had some quirks with phone calls etc.

Thanks! I'm up to 2500 miles now and still love it. The seat has 2 positions. It was in low position for this one and that's typically where I keep it. I have run it in high position to give a little extra leg room on long highway rides. But I like it in the low position for offroad.

Great video. I have a 1290 SAR and I’ve been eyeballing the Norden. Pro tip, your height doesn’t make a difference, your inseam does. I’m 5’10” with a 32” inseam. A buddy of mine is 6’3” with a 32” inseam.

I have a 30.5" inseam & I can just bend my proximal phalanxes (2nd big toe joint) So not quite "tippy-toe" but I foresee having to dismount & side throttle if I get stuck going up an incline. I've never owned a motorcycle that didn't lower w/age & For what I paid for my '24 Exp. I plan on gaining another inch or so closer to the ground in time/mileage. Luggage will make up the difference in the interim. It's funny, my last bike ('02 FXDP) my knees were almost level w/my hips at a stop but the damn thing weighed so much it didn't matter, pushing it up a slight incline from a seated position was better than a visit to the gym. And I did push that Hog for miles. It's presently a time share for mice in the side yard. Sure sounded nice when it decided to.

Paint scratches and chips easy on the wheels. Several cross-threaded bolts from the factory. Software is buggy and forget settings. Otherwise it's been a blast to ride. I haven't taken this bike for a long ride with an adult passenger, but I imagine the rear seat would be comfortable enough, especially if you had a top case on the back so they had a backrest. Might make your job a lot harder at stop lights though...
The mid-pipe is the part of the exhaust that contains the catalytic converter just before the final slip on. Arrow offers a full de-cat and a high flow option. Both would allow for more air flow and let the bike breathe better which would reduce heat (and improve sound.)

I must say how disappointing i was to see a trusted TH-cam motorcycle reviewer retract a centre stand in the silly manner that was shown in this video...
Maybe some training schools don't teach people the proper procedure ?
Ignition off, bike in 1st gear, clutch in, maybe the front brake lever covered...
'Stood aside the bike, nearside, rear inertia and rock onto a smooth push forward using the right toe to dampen the stand return , so it does not smash into the bikes frame !
Simultaneously releasing the clutch lever gently so the bike doesn't roll away from the rider.
Usually with side stand already to rest the bike onto.
    Done !
    On our advanced skills programme,
we teach this to dozens of experienced riders to their amazement they were never originally taught how to do this properly !

I didn't really notice due to the shock of seeing him try to put it up using his right foot! Thinking back to 1980 as a mechanic, I believe I normally brought it down nearly reverse of the way I taught mike to lift it up. With the exception of just leave it in first gear clutch out. Left hand on the grip, left foot on the stand lever, right hand under the seat grab bar, and push it forward. Obviously with the side stand down. Back in the day in the pits they would have mechanics races pushing bikes backwards around cones. Something you can do well after pushing 10 thousand or more times with the side stand down standing on the right brake side for control.

This bike does not have a single press start like some Suzuki's do. It's just a normal start as most other bikes

You're technique using the center stand is horrible.
You don't really need to lift the bike at all, just hold it upright and basically just use your leg on the center stand and 'stomp' or 'push' the ground as hard as you can and the bike will lift up.
Check 'Lind motorcycles - How to use a Motorcycle Center Stand' video or something.
EDIT: Maybe that sounded a bit harsh. It's all about technique and at first I struggled with the center stand on my Bandit but you really don't need to lift the bike with your arms at all if you just push down hard with your leg.

That’s fair. $15.7 list plus delivery and dealer fees. I also looked at several used KTM 790 that were around $10K. But I would have added about $4K in farkles to have equal functionality.
