How The Simpsons Just DESTROYED The Fourth Wall (And Your Favorite Cartoons)

- The Simpsons Death Note wasn't the only highlight of this year's Treehouse of Horror episode. In Simpsons World, we learn that The Simpsons don't live in the normal town of Springfield as expected. In a surprising crossover with other long-running cartoons, the truth is revealed.
While everyone was excited for the Death Note parody in this year's Treehouse of Horror Simpsons episode, Simpsons World was just as good! It features a ton of references and easter eggs to classic Simpsons episodes, ranging from Marge vs. the Monorail to Bart The General and more! We also get a minor crossover with Bob's Burgers, with a hint of SpongeBob SquarePants, Family Guy, Rick & Morty, and South Park. What's really going on here?

This episode almost makes me want to watch The Simpsons again.
same
Yeah I Kinda Wanna Watch Now Too
Oof
Me too
I'll give them some credit.
The animation and humor here looks and feels almost like the classic episodes.
I like how it has a bunch of adult cartoons and then there’s just SpongeBob in the corner lol
What I was thinking, that it’s funny, that almost all of these shows, except for SpongeBob are all adult/teen animation, and then there’s SpongeBob in the corner
spongebob has not-so-innocent themes in it
the entire main setting is a shoddy fast food restaurant parodying actual fast food restaurants
@@commentspae
I know, but I’m just saying when you think of adult animation I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t think of SpongeBob lol
Yeah, seems like it would have made more sense to use American Dad or King of the Hill.
The first 2 seasons kind of were tho
The truth is, Squidward has managed to make it into the real world before. He dabbed at everyone because they thought he was just a mascot.
In what episode?

@The Maxter S356 E777, “Oh Yeah, Mr. Krabs!”
Bob's Burgers is the only one that doesn't break the 4th wall or reflect current events
They put Bob in many other show moments, too, though. Especially Family Guy ones! They even put him in the Simpsons/FG crossover in the moment Peter gave Homer his first flashback scene that kinda refers to Fox itself a bit in a metaphorical way 😆
The Simpsons, Family Guy, Rick & Morty, South Park, Bob’s Burgers, & SpongeBob are the most longest running shows for years & they never end for a final episode. So I think that’s why in this Simpsons episode, they literally break the forth wall. It would be cool if we see all of the longest running shows have a crossover together.😊
Not Bigmouth though. It was too late for them
Tom Kenny isn’t allowed to voice SpongeBob unless it’s on nick so I doubt he can do a crossover unless it’s on his channel
@@vandalix8103 it was renewed for 7 more seasons during season 3 so we still have 4 more seasons which Justin Roland and Dan Harmon being ready to make a hundred more episodes after that deal. It's likely that Rick and Morty will live past season 10 with no signs of stopping.
Not spongbob because he’s not in the adult swim universe
@Freesmart I said Tom Kenny. Not Nickelodeon in general
They didn’t just destroy it… they _absolutely_ *_SHATTERED_* it! 😨
eh not really its not that serious man but if its all in good fun yeah
No they erased it
no man they NUKED IT
Nah, they Pearl harbored it
SHATTERED it? more like they nuked it lol 😂
If this was actual canon I would NOT be mad at this. THIS is a way better fourth wall shatter than the She-Hulk finale.
She hulk couldn't carry a tune to save their lives
@@Thingsandstuff17 How did She Hulk end.
Well with all the other shows I could see it happening. But Rick and Morty??? No, probably not.
Unlike the other shows Rick and Morty has a WAY bigger scope cosmically then the others shown here. Even the sign in front of the dome is a misnomer - "Rick and Morty universe'. Rick and Morty is a multiverse. And unless your saying that the rick and Morty multiverse is just a program simulated on some massive computer (which I highly doubt), then it's probably not that small..
Still, it's a fun gag I guess.
....Please don't......come on....
@@slimgrim3607 Calm down
Check out episode "Lisa the Boy Scout". It starts normal, even pretty predictable and boring, but then episode gets interrupted by hackers. They broadcast never-to-be-seen clips, such as Lenny being imaginary friend of Carl, Homer waking up from coma and many others. This episode is truly a hidden gem.
I haven't watched The Simpsons in years, but I watched this episode and it shattered expectations. Especially the Death Note parody, and I've never seen Death Note before.
Oh dude it’s worth it, a good first anime to watch too.
Just make sure you watch the anime and not the live action Netflix adaptation
@@Newt2799 Definitely, because I already heard about how terrible the Netflix version is.
What streaming service did watch that episode on?
I’d like to watch it.
@@kameha64 I caught it live on Fox but it should be available on Hulu.
TBH, I think the Death Note segment should have it's own spin-off series because it was very cool.
I expected a Sideshow Bob scene, to be honest
@Freesmart I agree.
@@Trist233 that would've been cool.
There was a parody of the manga in a treehouse of horror comic at one point
There's a whole anime about it if I'm not mistaken
To be honest this is one of the greatest reveals of all time in cartoon history
Although it’s not canon, like the other Treehouse of Horror stories
That goes to Evangelion
It's a parody of Westworld.
@@rmj8905 Actually it’s a parody on true man show
@@kameha64 Also it's Truman, your confusion is understandable though. His name is a play on words because he is the "true man."
The fourth wall breaking scene with the other franchises domes kind of reminds me of the film The Truman Show on how Truman never knew he was living in a film set his entire life.
I think that a parody of the Truman show
It's a parody of Westworld.
“Spongebob Sea” now lives rent free in my head.
Well, at least Spongebob is trapped forever because Stephen Hillenburg put the rule of the show never having a crossover
hence why its all the way in the back
even if SpongeBob was in this show it wouldn't count as a legit crossover. unless Nickalodean is actually involved somehow SpongeBob meeting the Simpsons would at best count as a parody or a reference. and the simpsons makes tones of pop culture references and cameos those don't count as legit crossovers
Either way, Chowder broken the 4th wall even more than this show, lol.
The 4th Wall doesn't even exist in the world of Chowder
@@toainsully it was crushed to dust
Broke?
We're Not Sure If The 4th Wall Even Existed In The First Place!
@@toainsully I have to agree.
It was the 4,444th wall. Lol.
...chowder had a fourth wall?
I like how this implies an idea of how this cartoon worlds work, all the shows's domes referenced are long running cartoons that are still going, but futurama, a show that ended years ago remains there, I wonder how that logic applies to other shows as well
It's still coming back though.
This Treehouse of Horror Episode was pretty good.
Why can't the actual series nowadays be like this episode?
The animation here feels like the classic seasons, even the humor.
I agree it was actually kind of funny.
I have been into The Simpson's for quite a while. When I saw all the different references from across the seasons, I got really nostalgic memories about how good the show USED to be.😭
The Simpsons still after all these year's knows how to blow our minds!
As well with what I think The Simpsons Family finding out that they are robots and haven't been aging because of that.
It all makes sense now...
Yeah I know
I especially like the end where it showed the theme park-like worlds of basically never-ending cartoons. Just a little friendly reminder that we're stuck with these franchises, whether we like it or not.
are you implying that we are stuck with big mouth forever
@@gtbgabe1478 Probably.
@@cnsayin8847 well shit
One of my favorites scenes from this segment was the opening with the scene from monorail episode. It's the ACTUAL scene from the episode! It starts off with the classic "Simpsons" style animation, then you can see it slowly transition into the modern style. The animators knew this was a famous episode, so the time it took to transition the classic scene into the new style, without reanimating it entirely, shows that they still care about what the audience likes.
I’ll admit I was surprised to see SpongeBob there
I wasn't.
Considering the fact it’s the only notable long runner that’s for kids not for adults
Where is Adventure Time, did they tear it down?
@@hoppingiconcentral826 what about sesame street?
@@iidragonflyiiAnimations not a cartoon
So if they already established Bill Cipher as canon in this universe and he figures this out… just a thought… 😳
Figures what out if you are talking about this whole theme park it is established that bill is cleary self aware with one of his lines being "reality is an illusion the universe is a hologram buy gold bye"
If the cast of Big Mouth knew their purpose, they wouldn't stop crying.
Funny seeing SpongeBob referenced amongst these adult cartoons.
Because he’s one of the longest and most popular cartoon shows to ever exist. The first three seasons were also aimed at a more general audience than kids.
I think the most shocking thing is that Big mouth is the one they think deserves to have its own world and yet ignore Netflix's more popular Bojack Horsemen. Not that I think big mouth is really bad or anything it's just never really felt like it was on the same level as south park or rick and morty in my opinion though maybe it's because Big Mouth is still ongoing while bojack ended. It would still be nice if it at least gets some acknowledgment once in a while.
This has the potential to lead up to so many different crossovers. Hoping they play this right.
What I want is a Adult Animated Shows Crossover MOVIE!
@@GageGamingGG this would be a fanatic movie if they did it tbh. A Great excuse to bring back Bojack Horseman too
@@GageGamingGG wait I minutes did you not notice that we got pibby even tho the show isn't green lit
@@theKingofDragons420 I don’t watch pibby. I personally am not interested in it. Still I watch vail’s vids to them
Oh ok
So this is how crossovers work
I think we’ve stumbled in to a Fourth-Wall Themed Multiverse I like to call ‘The MulTOONiverse’!
This brings out a new level of 4th wall breaking.
fun fact the death note part was animated by the original animators from death note
I would go to Big Mouth Mountain, go to Human Resources, find Nick Kroll, give him a piece of my mind for creating the Anxiety Mosquito and Depression Kitty, and then I would steal a Gratitoad!
it's amazing how every Cartoon had there own Theme World
I loved the simpson west world parody, it was amazing.
Maybe the sea spongebob realm is the line between kid shows and adult shows?
This isn't destroying the 4th Wall this obliterating the cartoon dimension
Imagine if they did this for other shows like The Flintstones, Powerpuff Girls, Looney Tunes, Rocko's Modern Life, etc.
Top bad shows like final space has their domes destroyed
Flintstones County
Powerpuff Girls Park
Looney Tunes Land
Rocko's Modern Midway
Here's a couple more ideas.
Adventure Time Kingdom
Steven Universe Universe
Sesame Street Zone
Gravity Falls Forest
Star vs the Forces of Evil Dimension
Thomas & Friends Depot
VeggieTales Farm
Regular Show Universe
Imagine the dystopian hellscape that is "Big Mouth World"
I was just hearing the nostalgia you mentioned but then you mentioned the cartoon universes :(
The Simpsons had some goodies in their trick or treat bags. A parody of themselves, Babadook, and Death Note. Personally I would like to see another anime style Simpsons segment like Death Tone in the future.
Let's hope Pibby will meet all thw WB characters and hope it WILL be canon to everyone involved.
Yup, I’m most definitely bound to see it happen too…
Plus, it be really great to see more multiverses return in the nearby future.
Like The Super Mario Odyssey Music playing in the Background. The Death Note Parody was really Cool and that ending when The Simpsons were in Bob's Burgers and the zoom out, seeing other Favorite Cartoons was crazy to see, really didn't expect to see SpongeBob Pineapple in the back.
This kinda scares me because I instantly started thinking of what if there were OTHER domes that got destroyed when the show ended or got cancelled. Like there used to be tons of domes but now there are only a few
It would be so cool if this is also how all the universes connect for Learning with Pibby: Apocalypse
It's like all the shows are in their own little Truman Show lol
Spoiler alert, you're in one too.
@@rmj8905 yea its called earth

i love that the south park world is called "south park park"
goin down to south park park gonna have myself a time
@@donaldscottishengine yup
the fact big mouth has a cameo in it made me fricking die inside
I would like to clarify that this half of the Simpsons treehouse of horror was a parody of HBOs Westworld. The end of this episode was fantastic..
Imagine if all the universes did a crossover that would be crazy
I can’t imagine that Treehouse of horror started as just Bart and Lisa telling scary stories to a forth wall break worthy of an Oscar
The Simpsons has been suddenly good again out of nowhere.
I believe this goes on in SpongeBob Sea:
Alaskan Bull Worm
SpongeBob driving a rock
Anchovies
Sweet Victory
DoodleBob
Robot SpongeBob
Imitation Krabs
Snail SpongeBob
Bubble Buddy
King Jellyfish
Soda drinking hat
and loads more
Missing opportunity to add those shows:
Gravity "Falls"
Avatar Air
King's Hill
Gumball World
Noise House
Meg Griffin: "Where's that CIA guy's world? Or that James Bond-like guy world?"
Petet Griffin: "Shut up, Meg!"
I appreacite your information on the fourth wall. (sorry my grammar is trash since english is my second language)
Do a Simpsons SpongeBob crossover or even Rugrats
The Simpsons Simpsons World brought a ton of awesomeness and nostalgia with whimsy and whoah
I don't know why but this is one particular 4th wall break in The Simpsons is sort of reminding me of The Truman Show
That and Bolt in a way.
It's a parody of Westworld. Actor Ed Harris is in both Westworld and The Truman Show.
American Dadville nowhere to be found 🤣
We Love you too Vailskibum ❤️
the fact that one episode on the new season also broke the fourth wall when the simpsoms episode where the hackers hacked it ( but not really ) of “lost episodes”
The last 2 treehouses have been some of my favorites. So glad to be watching again
Oh my god the Simpsons not just the Simpsons break the fourth. Wall but they just literally broke the multiverse.
Simpsons: destroys the fourth wall and My favorite cartoons
Me: *is done for thanks to The Simpsons*
This is like the World between Worlds episode of Star Wars Rebels and the end of Horton hears a who.
It's actually pretty genius that they used shows that've already broken the fourth wall before.
That Death Tome, omg, it was epic
I think I get it now... Just thinking about Pibby... The reason the outside world was like that... THAT'S HOW THE GLITCH TRAVELED EVERYWHERE!!! It traveled from our world, into their world, back to our world again, and back to their world again!
OMG... Pibby just made my life!
Boycott pibby warner bros
@@irfanismailyowo8273 Wait does that mean The LEGO Movie Universe has it's own bubble dome as well, like both the Lego people and the real world have two domes together which connects into one singular world. That would be dope!
And I thought Uncle Grandpa did the same thing
You can thank the Grampie Awards scene.
And I thought the WB Server-verse was something cool in Space Jam 2: A New Legacy
Still mad there was no Boondocks universe
you know what’s weird if even futurama is a giant dome that means it never really took place in the year 3000 perhaps when fry was frozen in 1999 some guys took his cryogenic tube and brought it to there some as decoration only for fry to unfreeze and become one of there mascots
👍
I saw this clip on a social media site and it was for todays simpsons a really good scene
That just makes me think what PIBBY WORLD would be like
That'd be a whole galaxy, bigger than any other.
The 4th wall was broken so hard it was literally crushed to dust
I feel like this being Canon would make futurama too confusing to even think about
The Simpsons confirms my Animation Realm Theory
Awesome 🤩
I like how you use the super mario odyssey music
Make a video about the Vanoss’ cartoon Alpha Betas
Am I the only one who wants to see an entire show in the "Simpsonsworld" universe focusing on the family hopping from show to show while the corporation that runs the theme parks hunts them down.
Where can I watch the episode?
This is the best Simpsons treehouse of horror ever
The Spongebob Sea Dome kinda reminds me of Countryballs
0:25 NED FLANDERS IN THE BACKGROUND
Crossover Madness! LOL
What episode was this?
What if the Simpsons family find out about the other worlds and tell all the character the they aren’t real but they already knew that ( or at least spongebob, Rick and all of South Park)
Colebot100 that would be a pretty good idea were the big five media adult animated sitcoms meet each other
I kind of thought of this before the Simpsons came up with it where the other cartoon universes collided with others and creating smaller universes of alternate reality's where it possibly never happened or were they created portals that lead to other universes
*the most long lasting shows*
My brain: Where's King of the Hill!??!
What episode did it show all this stuff?
I'll have to check out this episode.
The best part about this is seeing Futurama there.
now i just need an explanation as to who the FUCK thought that big mouth is on par with these great shows
This changes everything
She Hulk Ep. 9: "Finally! A worthy opponent. Our Battle Will Be Legendary!!!"
It's amazing that even after almost 35 years, the Simpsons can still find ways to blow our minds. The Simpsons isn't the same as it was in the 90s, but it's still the Simpsons.
I saw this episode and that last treehouse of horror bit was really something else
i cant find it anywhere. the episode isnt on disney+
Should Also include black and white Rubber Hose animation, Saturday morning cartoons style animation color and Harvey Toons animation style.
