Family Guy Just Aired for the FINAL TIME on Adult Swim

- Family Guy's run on Adult Swim has ended. Thanks to a deal with Disney, Adult Swim no longer has the rights to air Family Guy. On September 18th, 2021, the final episode premiered, along with a special "Bye, Bye Family Guy" bumper to pay respect to the series.
Family Guy was cancelled in the early 2000s, but Adult Swim managed to spark interest back in the show, ultimately reviving it. People fell in love with Peter, Stewie, Brian, and the rest of the family. Because of past events, this show genuinely wouldn't exist anymore without Cartoon Network's night-time block! After 18 years and millions of weekly viewers, Family Guy is officially gone from Adult Swim.

When Meg goes to college
Adult Swim’s bumper dedicating Family Guy felt heartwarming, because Adult Swim was like a father to Family Guy, even more so than FOX itself. Sure, Family Guy has declined drastically in quality, but the series definitely belongs on Adult Swim.

The moment I first saw Peter with tears in his eyes, I almost felt like crying myself.
Though the episode choice for Adult Swim’s final Family Guy broadcast was…weird, the fact that Adult Swim made such an emotional bumper with their characters waving “bye-bye” to the Griffins shows how much they cared.
If it wasn’t for Adult Swim, Family Guy wouldn’t be where it is today and vice-versa. And if it wasn’t for Adult Swim, I wouldn’t have been exposed to Family Guy in the first place….never thought I’d feel sad for a show that hasn’t even ended yet. But it is the end of an era and I will miss seeing FG on AS.

Reminds me of when Adult Swim had "The Last Futurama Marathon" before they stopped airing Futurama episodes. Ironically, it was the first time I ever watched Futurama.

Comedy central became my go to for futurama when I realized that adult swim wouldn't air it anymore.

Adult swim introduced me to this show. It became the first adult show I’d ever watch other than the Simpsons. Every time it came on adult swim, I’d always turn to that channel. Hearing that they will never return on this channel again is a shame to me because this channel will never be the same. Thank you for introducing me to the awesome world of true adult animation and good bye family guy.

Without Family Guy, the [adult swim] block can’t go on, because that’s what gets many people to watch it at night. They should just cancel the [adult swim] block because less people are gonna watch it nowadays.

I love that I'm only hearing one-sided things like "if it wasn't for Family Guy adult swim wouldn't be here" or "if it weren't for adult swim Family Guy wouldn't be here." it is just as much adults swim as Family Guy. Most likely we wouldn't have either of them if it weren't for the both of them working together. It connected viewers from AS to FG and vice versa. But also growth is a good thing, now adult swim has a new spot that they can put their own new show in

Regardless of how the show is now, Adult Swim always respected Family Guy, never cutting for multiple ads. I feel sad that others won't be able to experience the show like I did years ago; staying up late and seeing something that you didn't really understand but knew was hilarious.

It’s gonna be weird not seeing Family Guy on Adult Swim anymore. It was why I got into the show at all. One ad break in between and scenes not previously seen in the original airings on FOX are why I loved watching it on AS over any other network.
While it seems like Disney will be airing Family Guy reruns more frequently on FXX, FX and Freeform, it’s probably not going to be in the AS manner. Oh well, all things eventually come to an end. I’ll miss Family Guy on Adult Swim.

Hopefully someday, this whole “deal” will be revoked and we can get this show back on the air. I’d love that because I hate seeing others have to deal with depressing things such as loss. It hurts me too to see this… hopefully in the end, everyone does the right thing.

Sometimes it's better to leave things as they are I mean look at the simpsons. The older more classic seasons were good but the most recent seasons of simpsons have become mostly stale, repitive and boring the shows decline has gone downhill. How the simpsons are still going I don't know but clearly the writers as well as fox are running outta ideas for the simpsons.

Final episode should have been Back to the Pilot. Would have been a more appropriate capstone. That being said, they probably had the episode order in the original contract.
They had up to season 15 and Back to the pilot is season 10. I'm pretty sure they can air the episodes whenever they want from seasons 1-15.
Definitely feels "end of an era". Like when Adult Swim started airing King of the Hill in January 2009. Cable is dead.

Considering how much ratings this show pulls in for Adult Swim, Disney-owned channels having the show to themselves will be a huge boost. Disney, now owning full rights and nearly all cable rights to every adult Fox cartoon up to The Great North, are now in position to really compete with Adult Swim. I can’t wait to see what’s in store!
Or, you know, they could be sitting on all those IP Rights for the rest of their existence.
Disney is just another company, never forget that.

I remember when Adult Swim would air episodes that Fox would refuse to show. They treated the show with more respect the its original network ever did.
While the show's quality has dipped considerably, it was always most welcome on Adult Swim.
Adult Swim is one of the few bigger networks that respects true creativity and talent.

Cartoon Network's Adult Swim was where I first learned about and watched Family Guy despite all the new episodes being on FOX. Now I'm worried about how much longer will Family Guy itself will still be making new episodes. And with shows like this being eliminated from the Adult Swim block, I am worried about the future of Cartoon Network more than ever before having grown up seeing their shows from the golden era of the late 1990's and early 2000's. Even with their 2010's comeback, they just seem to me that now they've even further away from what they used to be since even those top shows are gone.
this came as a shock since i started recording episodes of Family Guy on cable just recently.
I noticed they weren’t appearing on schedules and one search later, immediately had to laugh; it finally ends on cable, and it happens just when i start getting back into it via cable.

Wow, this is super crazy. Yesterday, I was my mom's friend's party, and someone was watching Family Guy. It was my first time watching it, and I literally had no idea that everyone was waving goodbye because it would be the last time on the channel. I just thought they were waving goodbye because it was 8 p.m. and they weren't gonna air again until the next day. How ironic, the first time I watched Family Guy was their last time airing it on Adult Swim

This video just so happened to pop up in my recommended after 2 years, and I still think it’s absolutely HILARIOUS that the final episode they aired was STEWIE GETTING PREGNANT WITH BRIAN’S FUCKING BABIES. I could not stop replaying the moments where you showed the bumper, that animation is just so amazing.

adult swim was all I had as an escape in high school. I had nothing at all it was AS and music. Family Guy means more than I’d really care to say here, adult swim meant and will always mean so much. This breaks my heart. Family guy was such an important part of the lineup, AS feels so gutted now. I can’t believe it’s really done. Nobody is gonna respect it like AS did, that was Family Guy’s home. Doesn’t really feel real. I watched it last night and felt so sad. I missed the last bump saying bye, but that’s probably better I didn’t see that. I’m always going to miss the feeling of it being apart of the night. Heartbreaking

Family guy on adult swim was the reason I love family guy now (mostly old episodes and some newer ones) but I can always remember when I was younger watching family at night with my older brother on own little tv our parents got for us. It was some of my favorite childhood memories and the best time I had with my brother before he moved out. I will miss family guy being on adult swim but I guess we all have to move on eventually.

I remember watching family guy on adult swim when I stayed up late in the early 2000s when I was around 6-8. I felt so cool bc the channel adult swim had some creepy bloopers and the intro the robot chicken scared me. But it got me into some of my favorite shows

@@Sonicfan-rm6pu I think they're talking about one of the newer episodes where Meg had to have a "buddy" with her at all times /couldnt go anywhere unsupervised. After they would tell her everyone would look at eachother in a "scared"/ weird way then make a vague comment about what she did. Its a running gag through the episode and At the end Lois tells Peter that the ankle bracelet she had to wear to keep track of her got cut off but her foot was still in it and they're horrified. It then cuts to her limping through a snowy forest and I think a helicopter was after her (?) But it's all dramatic and stuff.
I think was just a gag that doesn't really lead to nowhere, like that one sight gag when she had a Russian look alike in one episode that killed her and took her place and then nothing about it was brought up again. There could be a connection but who knows

When I couldn't afford the cable package after the summer of 2011, Sunday evenings on FOX were the only time I could watch it
While I was never a huge fan, I make a reference to the show every once in a while since that's how potent its humor was

I’ll never forget in 2003 and I was 13 years old Watching the show for the first time adult swim was everything such great nights then I bought the DVDs kept watching it new episodes premiered then around 10 years later I would only occasionally watch reruns and basically switched to streaming. It was pretty idiotic for Disney to make AS lose the rights to Family Guy.
How they make more money this way
Because Disney didn't want their show on a competitor's channel.
How uncool Disney is, how dare they!? That means Disney, who got famous movies & shows which Existed since from the past & how they launched Disney Channel & Playhouse Disney now became CRAPNEY.

😔 I grew up watching family guy on adult swim and I’m 20 years old
Family guy was a big part of my childhood I remember staying up late as a kid and watching it on Adult Swim and going to school and telling all the kids about it and repeating some of the jokes and getting in trouble. I may not like the newer seasons but I'll gladly re watch any episode from the earlier seasons any day.
It's sad cuz most of these shows almost got cancelled, but [adult swim] helped

Grew up on family guy every night at 11pm est after the second regularly scheduled episode of whatever adult swim opener whether it was futurama, American dad or bobs burger. Knowing I’d get to watch family guy and even robot chicken after was a meaningful time in my childhood
I used to watch Family Guy mostly cause of TBS in the 2000's.
And Cartoon Network is literally having family matters reruns I swear to God it’s straight up anarchy right now work right now and I am loving every second of it. Now if they just aired sonic boom again then it would really be anarchy

Bob’s Burgers is leaving adult swim next year, and kind of reminds me of when KOTH left. They were both on AS for 9 years, and they were the first shows every night on AS.
I heard that Bobs burgers will end in 2023, so thats probably the reason why they leave [adult swim]

Quite honestly, I'm more disappointed by that, as Bob's Burgers felt right on [as]. Even though it lasted a lot longer on Fox than I thought it would, it never really felt right on mainstream broadcast television the way Simpsons or FG did. It just seems right at home with other Louren Bouchard shows. Look at how [as] saved Home Movies from being forgotten on UPN. Actually, that's what I'd love to see. A block consisting of one Bob's Burgers and one Home Movies to take FG's place.
