- Used high tensile Red Brand 'no climb' 2X4 horse fence on t-post and t-post alone with the Wedge Loc hardware. Worked awesome... saved a lot of time with digging and concrete.

A little tip from an Old Rancher, always put the fence wire on the INSIDE..facing the animals you want to keep in, Never on the outside. They Will push and break the clips and soon they will be out. Have a great week. Good to see young people working the field and caring for animals.
I learned this about half way through fencing the property. I did it on the outside because that's the way it should "look". Then I saw my pigs pushing on it....its all going on the inside now. The clips are to hold it up.
Since I just want to keep deer out, not animals in, I guess the wire goes on the outside.

I have always staggered mine, 1 in 1 out. Your right about the rings/ties breaking. We keep our beast in but also have scrub cattle and pigs trying to get in from the outside. I drive my lines once a month and just repair/maintain.

Instead of bolts on your 2x4s clamping onto the fence fabric, I just use a couple of nice big C clamps and make sure the knots of the fence are in the middle to lock onto
Dont stretch those bumps out they are for expansion and contracting with. Weather. Take them down a little bit. . Advice f rt omi my grandpa here in the north

Well, I can see what your problem was, right there.
There was no beer in your cup holder.
Installed 24' x 40' garden fence on a slope using wedge loc and Red Brand woven wire fencing 4 years ago, using all T-posts for corners and all (no wood or cement). You need woven wire fencing if the fence is on a slope. They also sell Wedge Loc hinge system for gates so have two gates too. Also found some locking gate latches that work with the system. To make it even stronger, used turnbuckles on the diagonal T-posts on the corners. The soil is rocky clay. Rocky clay soil holds T-posts like cement without cement. Neighbors used wood cemented posts and they're popping out of the clay soil and the wood is rotting. The Wedge loc system with T-posts and Red Brand woven wire fencing still looks like new, 4 years later.

Wedge Lock - you bet. I put some of that stuff in like 24 years ago (in the desert west of Tucson, to keep the neighbors cattle out) and those things are still in place. Guess I never had that 1000 lb bull try to knock down my fence.

ummm you installed your fence on the wrong side of the posts lol The fence should press up against the posts, the animal shouldn't be able to push the fence away from the posts.
Liked it, intro was short and sweet. Got to the action immediately with no long drawn out transitions. I wish you had shown how you secured the fence to the post initially to keep it in place(Like did you secure the top only 1 post at a time, or did you stretch the length then go back and secure?). I'm sorta on the fence about what type of fence to install currently and this video helped.
Wedge lock is still cheaper than brace posts for shorter distances . Thanks for the tip!

Looks loose that corner post set up is the worst everytime it looks tight you get off on the stretch and it looks loose again use 8" round pine it will hold your stretch.
I'm so glad to know about that product! I'll definitely be using that on my homestead. Most other fencing things are out of reach, either budget or physical ability. I think even having to install it alone and with back problems, I can manage.
I'd like to see how you get your posts so straight. Mine look like a drunk 5 year old did them.
It always helps me to set corner posts in place first. Then I’ll eyeball my fence line or pull a string between the corners. That takes the guesswork out of the equation.
I realize this an old comment but jic someone else is reading for an answer: use a level. Few bucks at Harbour Freight or up to $7 at a farm store. Put it on a straight side and check level of two sides, pound 3 - 5 times, then recheck level and repeat as needed. Definitely start with corners first then set a line to have inbetween posts follow.

I've had this system for years, but as shown, the brackets just aren't that strong, like you said. Great for small critters and chickens. Nothing larger, in my opinion.
Dont cheap out and do a 2 3/8 H pipe cemented . Eventually the t post will lean.

Ohh yeah, much stronger than welded wire. I have goats as well. Typical goat size is 4”x4” webbing for goat. Make sure if you have horned goats the webbing is small enough they can’t get their head through. Thanks. Take care.

Warning Pushing on a corner it looks strong. Pull on that corner and it falls apart and anyone can walk right through it. Waste of yours and my $$$$.

Wedge lock are junk. They won't work if the end of the post is deformed from driving.
Within 5 years the cost of T post has gone up a 100% they're going for about $7 $8 now
Those wedges look pretty handy, but this is the first that I've heard about them. I'm putting in a welded wire fence right now. I used three t-posts on the corners too, all three bottoms pounded into the ground. To fasten them together, I drilled 1/4" holes through them at the top and just used bailing wire, wrapped through three times. Super strong!
Think I found the fence. I just need it to keep the new neighbor's dog in their yard. Sweetest dog but I don't need piles of their dog's droppings in my yard. New owners seem to be full of themselves and the type where a simple "good morning" gets them keyed up.
Thanks - these look very good. I build a lot with t-post. My local Tractor Supply use to carry 10' t-posts. My soil is very sandy so I hammered those in 4' into the ground and then mixed in some cement in with the sand in the top 2 feet and the result is strong enough to support roofing. There are also these steel hangers that enable you to attach 2x4 horizontally. I want to build a small floating enclosed structure (stick barn like) with a soil cement floor and polycarbonate siding and roofing. I do wonder how long it would take a T-post to break down in Florida.
can gates be added to that type of fencing, I am buying a house on 1.3 acres with no fence and am wanting to enclose it for my dog. I need gates to allow access to the septic system and to bring a mower in and out. so really only need one big gate maybe 8 to 12 feet
Kevin Tunaley - yes. You can buy t-post adapters that hold tube gates or wire filled tube gates... or you can just use wood post on either side of the gate. I’m a manager of a Tractor Supply. We carry all this stuff accept the tpost gate holder hardware. You can get em online. Take care.

What do you do when there is an elevation change, say a small uphill or downhill? Do you have to cut it and reposition?
This is an awesome question. There are two ways... all of the flat can be done first, then you have to position a post at the apex of the drop or rise in the hill, then spread your post evenly up or down the slants. Attach to the middle apex post, stretch to next, fasten, continue. Until you hit the flat completed post. Other way is to use really long post down in the valley. Just stretch it level across. Then ad another section of fence under the high fence where the hill is. We sell t-post up to 10’ long at TSC. Thanks. Take care!
Going to try these for an area for pygmy goats and chickens. Lots of clay & rocks in our area so wasn't looking forward to setting a bunch of posts, this will cut back significantly on the amount of digging I have To do. New subscriber
If you haven't gotten the fence up yet, you can use a pinch point bar pry (aka digging bar, aka old time ditch witch) to wiggle rocks out of place BUT this leaves a wider hole than a T-post. I ended up using rebar or a nail stake to make a pilot hole, twisted it out, then drove in the t-post.
I think my GSD would jump over it.

I've got to put one end of a fence in a lake , wedge lock will make it a lot easier , post hole digging in 2ft of water would be next toimpossible

How close together did you put your t posts? Would they be ok say 10 ft apart?
I am putting t post every 10ft and I am finding the top of the fence is pretty Flemmsy, is that to far apart or am I not stretching it tight enough? I am using all of the same products
Prolly have to stretch it more. About a month ago I had a leader branch break off a tree about 7” wide… 16’ long. It was laying across the top of that fence, and the fence only flexed about 4” down with all that weight. I was pretty impressed. Best of luck- take care!!!

its pretty garbage but if you use 1 come a long pulling the top and 1 pulling the bottom you could have got the slack at the bottom you ended up with. seems like your main problem was securing it tightly to the star picket. fine for a temporary fence i guess. you need a massive tractor to tighten any fence. mine wont do it either
Really the trick is just to tension short sections and not try to run 100' of fence and then pull it all at once.

I sandwich the fence with two 2x4’s on each side of the fence at the end… then put bolts through the wood - fence holes -and wood on the other side. Fashion some hooks to the top and bottom of your stretcher and it’s ready to pull. Best of luck, take care.
The vent stretcher! So I went to Tractor Supply and they want $100 for those I made my own. It works great. I think I might make a bunch more and sell them for 50 bucks which is half price of tractor supply it still make a profit. Thanks for the tip.
An update would be interesting if a few decent pigs had been kept in it and whether the goats were ever found. Good for lifestylers for convenience though. Flimsy is a term that comes to mind. A couple of hot wires around the inside would be a great improvement though, pigs & goats respond well to them.

Man I wish I just spent the money on woven. I just got 100’ of welded wire done today and the tops are all lose. Bottom is great but I’m going up hill and I can’t stretch this stuff on t posts.

Where did you get your T-Posts? What height?
Tractor supply. Make sure you use the heavy duty T post. Thick ones, none of the thin cheap Home Depot / Lowe’s ones that are like 1/8” thick…. I’m pretty sure I used 5 and a half foot T post for the 4 foot fence. Get them deep. This fence is still as perfect as the day I made the video with pigs and goats. You’ll love it. I couldn't make them work . If you have heard ground and drive your posts, the end gets deformed and the wedgelocks won't go over the end of the posts.
Wedge lock works good, just follow the directions and understand the nature of the live stock you are trying to contain. I have used this product to contain small live stock and stock that does not routinely challenge a fence. Not sure how it would do with larger stock.
Those are not made to hold horse fence. You will only have a loose fence. Wil bend the t post before you get it as tight as that fence is intended for.
Save yourself time and money people. Building a fence twice is not cheaper than building it correctly the first time. 👍

Nice fence. That’s ok for what you need, if you’re doing 6ft high horse fence it’s big posts, staples mixed with Tee posts.
