I showed this video to a friend a couple of years ago that also love old PC games and tech :) The next day in my apartment complex someone had placed a toilet around the trashcans so i took a picture and sent it to him and wrote "Watch out! They are stole your fuel!"
There's a shareware game I used to play in the late 90s with a similar look and feel to this called Green Thumb Cards, where you try to grow your own garden by playing cards such as the water sprinkler and fertilizer while trying to sabotage your opponents' gardens with weeds and earwigs. It's a strangely addicting game. Check it out if you haven't already!
I know this is one of your shorter videos, but for some reason it's a favorite of mine. It's filled with calming nostalgia and your humor is spot on in this one. "Even if it are stole your fuel." :)
Mr LGR, I have that very Compaq PC now proping up the end of my desk! With its stunning 12GB Hard drive and a whole gig of RAM, aaaaaah those were the good ol days. I swear watching your vids always gives me some kind of trip down nostalgia lane on Sweet Sweet Memories Steet. Kudos! Liked!
I am a long time LGR viewer but I was never aware of you reviewing this game. For years I thought this game was just a fever dream I had. Thank you so much Clint!
I TOTALLY had one of those Compaq Presario computers. I vividly remember getting one of those colored face-plates, wondering if we should go out and buy another color, and then completely forgetting about it five minutes later. Got that computer, our very first family computer, back in 2000, and I think that lasted a few years while I got my own personal laptop, then my own full PC in like 2004. Good times and great memories. Awesome review as well. Thanks.
There is also a much older DOS text mode game called "Lawn Mower", which is also quite fun. I featured it in my video "Vintage IBM PC games: Pango, Lawn Mower, Ribbit & Tetris x 2".
Back in 2001-2004 was around the only time I didn't have a decent computer either. I had a Packard Bell PC I got back in 1999 with Pentium III 733Mhz, 384MB RAM (It started as 64MB but I upgraded to 3 128MB SDRAM modules), crappy 15GB HDD (which I upgraded to 30GB before changing my computer), 3 1/2" floppy, DVD ROM (then changed to a DVD RW), Geforce FX 5200 PCI graphics and a 17 inch CRT which was massive and took up most of my desk at the time, Also had 56k dialup and remember downloading games like this back then. BTW, I don't think I am OCD, bu seeing those unmown patches kinda made made me think, maybe I am a little after knowing you couldn't mow the lawn completely.
Im looking for a similar game but for either dos or 90s console. Researching but mostly finding results comprising modern day "simulator" games *kept sifting through results and finally found it. 1987 game!
Just want to respectfully say years later... my very first *gaming PC*, that I still have to this day was a Compaq Presario 5423US, 1.6 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB (to start) of RAM, 64 MB nVidia GeForce 2 MX200, and an 80 GB Harddrive. It was the best in the market at the time, and minus a few limitations of the GeForce 2, which I eventually upgraded, it did very well... better than most. We never color-changed the faceplates, but it withstood time well.
I checked their website assuming that it was long-dead and a domain pirate site, but the site is still active and you can still get Lawn Mower there. Wow!
For some reason, I find myself attracted to the design of that Compaq Presario. maybe it's the white plastic base, the roundness, the attachable speakers, It's pleasing to my eyes
I found this video after playing Lawn Mower Simulator, so now there’s two games about a chore that makes me sweat that I actually have enjoyed playing.
I'm not sure if you've ever heard of it, but there was a really early DOS lawn mower game that from the best I can tell was made in 1987. It used ASCII graphics, had various lawn shapes you had to finish (and in this one, you actually DID finish a lawn), and there were damn animals that got in your way and dug holes you had to avoid...
Quite an odd game, but it seem's enjoyable as heck. Sometime's, us gamer's need a relaxing game to play once and a while. At least now, when mother ask's me to mow the lawn, I can say i've already taken care of it with a smile on my face. I wouldn't mind seeing a re-made version on something like Xbox Live, or PSN, for some strange reason. Keep up the amazing work, Clint. You've inspired me. To be lazy, that is. See you on the Filpside. ~LanksLPs
A nostalgia trigger exploded in my head when I saw the name of this video. Then I watched it. This game is too new to be lawn mower. I remember a simpler time where computer screens were green and darker green, and my digital lawn mower was also green and the grass... yep... green. You had a time limit and a yard to mow... and every once in a while you'd run over a rock. Fun times. Sadly this is not that game.
The Compaq Presario was my last PC computer (Apple user now), I still have it stowed away complete with Geforce II and Voodoo II cards in it. It should still work providing it survived the flooding of the basement we had a few years back. It was wrapped in a plastic trash bag so I hope no water leaked in.
I remember having nothing but Real Arcade and EGames games on an old Dell PC. I kind of miss those days. Also, those damn corners ALWAYS bothered the heck out of me. Glad to see I'm not the only one. XD
This game reminds me of the ones i used to play in my fathers old apartment with my brother back in the old days... He got some computer magazines in the mail and sometimes they had a CD-ROM with demos on it... We really enjoyed those as we didn't have internet in the apartment and facebook wasn't even invented yet
Ha! I grew up on Compaq Pressario (or whatever)! Mine had an Athlon and I've upgraded TNT to GF2MX. Lasted me from 99 till 04 when the shadered games started coming out and ran all the games of the time fairly well. Loved it.
If you want to try another lawn mowing game, Sunday Lawn on phones is probably worth a shot. It's been a few years since I played it, but it always stood out as one of the actual good iOS game I played back when my family first got an iPod Touch. If nothing else, the sprites seem as nice as I remember. Ever since I played it the idea of little lawn mowing games really amused me so it's nice to finally see another one.
My HP Pavilion Desktop (almost replica of your Compaq Presario) came with that game! It was even cooler when in 2006 I got that game on Wild Tangent on my next HP laptop!
The lawnmower missions in Bully were almost the same thing. No enemies, but after a certain amount completed, you had the option of finishing the rest or be lazy and stop with a completion.
Ever tried Liero? It's one heck of an awesome game that I used to play when I used to own a Compaq Presario that had a K6-2 processor and a 32 meg ram. Those were the days ahaha...

The first time I saw Lawn Mower it was a DOS based video game if ya want to even call it that. Just a blinking X for the blades ( the cursor) and standard up, down , left and right controls. No obstructions to avoid, no one ARE steal fuel. I first played this on a Commodore Pet. I am wondering if this was a "reboot" of that game for the time.
Thats great, will definitely look forward Tetris reviews. Haven't played El-Fish but as far as I can remember its one of the older maxis games, so review of that one should also be quite interesting. Talking about other Russian games the one I can recall right away is "Вангеры" (Vangers). An unique racing game in some way, definitely check it out. I'm sure you'll like it :)
Another great review LGR. Living in Russia it always pleases me when someone reviews russian games. Are there any other ex-USSR games you're going to look at ? I would highly reccomend "Подземелья Кремля" (Kremlin's Dungeons), its kind of legendary russian game that is considered the first local FPS. Would definitely like to hear youd comments upon that
TH-cam gives me a ryobi lawnmower advertisement of course.. Edit: I had the same Compaq computer!! But we only had the purple faceplate. Well that's what mom told me, and honestly I woulda told my son the same thing if those were the alternatives to the purple.. 😬😬

Are stole my fuel twice, shame on me

ARE STOLE FUEL THREE TIMES?! I am sent to my death :(

This would be Hank Hill's ideal video game.

As soon as you read "They are stole your fuel" the first time, I knew it was going to be my new catch phrase that no one would understand.
Bully has a lawn-mowing mini-game.
Yet another reason we need a sequel.
