This isn't even just limited to dates. I think this is why Sims 4 feels so stressful to me - it's not as engaging as 3 to begin with, but it also burdens the player with so much stuff that the cost of that little return, mentally, is just way too high.

He switched to "Expansion Packs" only because he got burnt out due to EA churning out Sims 4 packs non-stop. Kinda hard to force yourself to keep up with churning out entertaining reviews for cosmetic packs with one single teeny tiny gameplay object added.
I miss LGR sims reviews - I totally understand why he only does expansion reviews nowadays but I've always looked forward to them whenever a new pack came out since the TS3 days
I was appaled by the "sex education" thing. there is no sex in sims universe, there's woohoo. the same way the money is simoleons, not dollars, and vampires drink plasma not blood etc. it's the same like when they did that moschino clothes that have text on them that is not in simlish. It braks the immersion
Love the catfish costume! But I'm astonished at how broken Sims expansions are, today. Maybe I'm looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, but I don't remember chasing bugs with previous Sims iterations.
@@seancasey8707 I was about to say the same thing. One of the big achievements of The Sims 4 was fixing everything that was broken in The Sims 3, even if that meant loosing some fundamental stuff like the open world. But they still manage to break specific features every time a new expansion pack comes out, and some of them never get fixed. One minor example that has been broken for years is the training interaction between vampires. Normally the "teacher" uses a skill and then the "pupil" tries to do the same but sometimes fails. A few patches after the vampire addon came out this was broken and now the teacher does both animations and the pupil just stands around doing nothing.
Every time a new LGR Sims 4 review drops, I save it to my watch later, wait for the perfect moment, get myself a little pastry and an extra sweet coffee and curl up for the complete experience. Nothing hits like these vids. They’re in my personal cozy collection like Murder She Wrote and tea on a rainy day. Thank you so much for still making these!
The unfortunate reality is that there are some people out there still buying these expansions like hot cakes and so EA will continue to release underwhelming content. When a company is so far gone with corporate greed, the only way to break the cycle is to stop giving them money. I would care to wager that we never see a proper Sims game (like in the Maxis days) ever again.
Stopped buying and updating sometime around 2018 or 19. Still playing the sims 4 on old Origin offline :) Its still nice to see the new packs, realize they all have 1-2 things i was wishing for since base game, but then see that 98% of the update or the packs is something i really wouldnt want in my game.

@@lpnp9477 That presumably isn't his point though, it's that the whole "this game is expected to last a decade because we're gonna keep adding new stuff to it for you to buy" was almost nonexistent 20+ years ago outside of MMORPGs.

There's also a chance you can get a call from a "Rich Weirdo" and if you meet them at the love hotel they either ghost you or give you stuff. And you can get a call from your Sim's love interests about them having a heart bed and then you can basically go disappear and do a booty call
I remember when The Sims 4 came out, we couldn't wait and were so excited. What we got was an empty shell of a game, i remember how me and my friend looked at each other after playing for a while, disappointment, like "this can't be it right??". Even today i wonder what the hell happened, The Sims 3 was so awesome, made with LOVE and effort! If The Sims 5 doesn't release with seasons and pets by default, i'm not gonna give them my money :D
I agree... it was the biggest dissapointment ever. Sims 3 was amazing.... I still play ot sometimes. We bought sims 4, tried it for a bit and never played it again. Empty shell of a game is the perfect description. I won't get excited for sims 5. Sims 4 dissapointed me way too much to have hopes again
I remember being excited to play The Sims 4 at launch... and finding out there was no Open World, looong load screens every time you wanted to go anywhere and no POOLS, like I can get pass throught the Fireman, Police and Buglar, but the POOLS??
I genuinely laughed out loud a few times in this review. I love how you pair your capture with your review. Thanks for still doing these, they are always fun to watch. For anyone looking to buy this, some of the relationship options, like boundaries and woohoo buddies, are now part of the base game.
Same here I have been playing sims 3 and never even bothered buying sims 4. I pirated sims 4 all expansions during the time when tiny living came out but even with that much content I couldn't get into it and went back to sims 3. Sims 1 and 2 are also fun and amazing. There is more fun and gameplay in the previous generations than in sims 4.
I genuinely tried to get into the Sims 4, but I just couldn't. Even the game with a couple expansions felt shallow and empty compared to base game Sims 2, 3, and even 1. It's a shame, because I've loved the Sims series up until Sims 4.
Wait. The god damn Mac version has 64Bit?!!! And here I am configuring Mods for hours and barely getting it to run smoothly without disableing several AddOns and moving the game to a High End SSD
See i have a Mac 64 bit, but they still haven’t updated the sims medieval to be available for 64 bit- so i can play the sims 3 (though its extremely buggy for macs) but not the sims medieval which is a much smaller game
From all the trailers and reviews I really got the feeling that they saw wicked whims and just copied features that they could pass thru the teen rating... the dating app, attraction, polyamory, some new interactions and woohoo spots... idk, also still no way to make a poly closed relationship, it's either all or nothing
It’s crazy because Wicked Whims does have a very complex attraction system and you’re not required to turn it on for every Sim. I went through a phase of doing everything I could with the mod but now I leave it installed for the extra realism in certain areas, even things unrelated to smut entirely.
TBF with Lovestruck, you don’t have to give turn ons/turn offs to your Sim or even likes/dislikes. They can get them through gameplay. Which is my preferred way anyway. But Lovestruck is still not better than how I already play with Lumpinos RPO Modules installed so I have never used Wondeful Whims. Looked at the mod and decided to stick with RPO and have ever since. Was never interested in Wicked Whims. But I think they are both amazing mod work.
10:01 I'm honestly surprised it's not called "encourage woohoo wisdom" or something similar just to keep up with the rest of the motifs. But then again this entire DLC seems like the dev team got drunk and decided to throw their kinks at the proverbial wall to see what stuck or..... I'll let myself out now.
Sheesh, this seems like an expansion that just finished too early instead of taking things slow. That eggplant suit was much funnier than I expected it to be though.
Also known as, corporate execs who look at TikTok trends to decide what will sell games. The previous games have a couple of packs that didn't age well in terms of the content being specific to the era they were released in, but TS4 it feels like every recent pack and update will not stand the test of time. Everything in the past few packs is so on the nose trendy that it loses the timeless charm that the franchise is known for. It's cringe now, but imagine trying to play this in 10 years time.

your duke nukem sim is like the shadow in the cave of duke nukem to me at this point. i don't think you can ever convince me he's the ultra-masculine player character of an fps. he's a family man who wears gaudy outfits and named his own son nukem nukem
Look, Duke Nukem Forever changed all of us. I’m just glad to see LGR giving him a career.
When I found out Duke Nukem wasn’t LGR’s weird OC after several years of thinking so I was shocked
@@hazeltade3679 what do you mean? he IS LGR's weird oc. LGR owns duke nukem exclusively. duke nukem only exists on LGR's channel. everyone agrees.

Duke Nukem is to LGR what Jim Pickens is to CallMeKevin.

It's an expansion pack, ofc he returns to review those.
Better late then never 👍
Gotta pay them bills.
He switched to "Expansion Packs" only because he got burnt out due to EA churning out Sims 4 packs non-stop.
Kinda hard to force yourself to keep up with churning out entertaining reviews for cosmetic packs with one single teeny tiny gameplay object added.
Lmao not the Disney Star Wars trilogy reference 😂
We need an LGR review of WickedWhims eventually
I miss LGR sims reviews - I totally understand why he only does expansion reviews nowadays but I've always looked forward to them whenever a new pack came out since the TS3 days
You won me over when you cited 7 Deadly Sims! I remember their CC from my OG Sims 1 days! 😅

I never could get into the newer Sims, something about them is just missing.
There’s at least a dozen of us lmao!
I don’t even play sims anymore. Haven’t in years. Yet I still have to listen to LGR to hear about a game I used to love
Who would have thought that LGR would manage to stick with this game longer than I did.
I mean he pretty much quit doing anything but EP reviews soooo, I think EPs just bring him out of Sims retirement.
LGR videos are just so cosy and fun. Love it as always!
Love the catfish costume! But I'm astonished at how broken Sims expansions are, today. Maybe I'm looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, but I don't remember chasing bugs with previous Sims iterations.
The Sims 3 was a buggy mess, but still a great game.
There hasn't been a single Sims 4 DLC recently that didn't release without GAME-BREAKING bugs.
@@countzero2405 Well, when you have less content, there's less to break.
Is it a new sims pack _or_ a new sims bug?
Every time a new LGR Sims 4 review drops, I save it to my watch later, wait for the perfect moment, get myself a little pastry and an extra sweet coffee and curl up for the complete experience. Nothing hits like these vids. They’re in my personal cozy collection like Murder She Wrote and tea on a rainy day. Thank you so much for still making these!
16th half baked pack? People really need to stop supporting EvilArts
I thought EA stood for early access
I bought the ones I think are good and that's it! There's been a couple since then that I have come dangerously close to buying, but the absolute shit storm that is my mods folder plus all the regular game bugs.. it doesn't speak to me
@@shioriharuI do dearly wish I had not updated to the EA app but it basically forced me to. The EA app is the literal worst part of the experience; without it the game would get a solid 3.5/5
Edit: literally edited this bc I want to drive home how viscerally I hate the EA app and it's perpetual mandatory "updates" that have never once improved the user experience
I find it crazy people have been playing this game and others like Minecraft,FortNite, and GTA 5 for a decade. That amount of time when I was a kid was from the NES to the PS1.
You can play other games you know
@@lpnp9477 That presumably isn't his point though, it's that the whole "this game is expected to last a decade because we're gonna keep adding new stuff to it for you to buy" was almost nonexistent 20+ years ago outside of MMORPGs.

LGR is the best reviewer for the sims. I always wait to watch your reviews before I buy an expansion. This one looks fun.
I don't even play the sims anymore but i look forward to these and i must say this pack is something else 😂

LGR's review is one of the few good things that comes out of Sims 4 Expansion Packs these days.
Pause everything. Don’t care that I have a dissertation to write: watching this is exponentially more important
You and me both dude, good luck with your defense!
TRUE and I uninstalled this garbage game a year ago after playing it for a month.
How's that going for you now? I'm still in undergrad but I have my own stuff to work on! Agh!
Things easily get past the QA team when there is no QA team.
Sure there is - paying customers.
I genuinely laughed out loud a few times in this review. I love how you pair your capture with your review. Thanks for still doing these, they are always fun to watch.
For anyone looking to buy this, some of the relationship options, like boundaries and woohoo buddies, are now part of the base game.
Ngl, the best part of a new pack is the brutally honest LGR take.
The way I screamed "oh hell yeah" as soon as I got the notification for this
I got a good laugh when my werewolf got multiple matches who described themselves as "Dog Lovers" 😂
Wow, you can smell the crass desperation in this pack from here.
i’ll never touch a new sim game much less buy dlc; but i really appreciate the entertainment from you covering these
13:22 "...which, I don't know how it passed QA since it clearly has a misplaced water texture..."
You're assuming EA has Quality Assurance...
At this point, not even the Early Access players have not been consulted for QA. It's literally part of their job.
@@anonymouschicken20 Early Access simmers are not QA? How is it a part of their job?
@@TheHenfordHen If EA dont care what they find, let alone fix bugs they found.
I know how it passed, they had too many game breaking bugs and had to prioritize those over the ones that cause visual glitches
I don't doubt that they *have* QA, I just don't think they give a shit about listening to them.
Still playing The Sims 3 until today and never touch The Sims 4 at all. But i still love watching your Sims 4 content video 🫶👍
Me too. I'm finishing building my new pc just to play TS3 all fucking day.
I genuinely tried to get into the Sims 4, but I just couldn't. Even the game with a couple expansions felt shallow and empty compared to base game Sims 2, 3, and even 1. It's a shame, because I've loved the Sims series up until Sims 4.
Same! I live for LGR, cuz heaven knows I'm not wasting my time playing the mess that is TS4.
All I really want is a non-mac 64bit version of the sims 3 with proper multi-threading support.
That would be great. I got a new Razerblade and I cant imagine how awesome the game would have looked if it was updated.
Wait. The god damn Mac version has 64Bit?!!!
And here I am configuring Mods for hours and barely getting it to run smoothly without disableing several AddOns and moving the game to a High End SSD
Oh god, same 😭
@@daskampffredchen Yes but it's intel mac so, good luck I guess!
See i have a Mac 64 bit, but they still haven’t updated the sims medieval to be available for 64 bit- so i can play the sims 3 (though its extremely buggy for macs) but not the sims medieval which is a much smaller game
"we enter into the 10th year of the sims 4's existence"

You’re the only Sims 4 content I watch anymore :)
From all the trailers and reviews I really got the feeling that they saw wicked whims and just copied features that they could pass thru the teen rating... the dating app, attraction, polyamory, some new interactions and woohoo spots... idk, also still no way to make a poly closed relationship, it's either all or nothing
I've tried making polycules and they still all get jealous of each other, it's totally not broken at all /s
It’s crazy because Wicked Whims does have a very complex attraction system and you’re not required to turn it on for every Sim. I went through a phase of doing everything I could with the mod but now I leave it installed for the extra realism in certain areas, even things unrelated to smut entirely.
Even modders are better than EA, they’ve stopped trying long ago
TBF with Lovestruck, you don’t have to give turn ons/turn offs to your Sim or even likes/dislikes. They can get them through gameplay. Which is my preferred way anyway. But Lovestruck is still not better than how I already play with Lumpinos RPO Modules installed so I have never used Wondeful Whims. Looked at the mod and decided to stick with RPO and have ever since. Was never interested in Wicked Whims. But I think they are both amazing mod work.
wow, they deporned wicked whims and turned it into a supported expansion. I'm legit impressed they went this far.
The sims 2 will always have a special place in my life.

We may not have good Sims games anymore, but we have this.

Love that you still do these after a decade. And that you sound more and more dead inside everytime
This pack seems like it was made by aliens looking at earth and thinking: yeah, thats what humans are like
When Will Wright left The Sims really went down the drain.
That's what all the Sims games seem like to me, especially after the first. It's like an intentionally shallow parody of human behavior.
A bunch of software devs and suits trying to write scripts for human interaction? Yeah, you're not far off.
