It shows Daragh's maturity as an interviewer that he sees camera magic in Haskell and just steps slightly back and let's him rip...a highlight of the ex-GG so far!!
What a great video Daragh, keep up the work mate and never lose hope on what you want to achive with this channel. I will be along for the ride and many more will join me I am sure.
Was wondering what you'd do when you ran out of Guinness to review. Great to see you investing in what you do well. And good to see Haskell spreading the love. Missing London Irish RFC. Would love to see you do a video with Tweedy Pubs. He does a great job reviewing the history of pubs but could do with a bit of exposure. Very different character from you and would be interesting to see the chemistry.
I recently had a few pints of plain in the Devonshire, not impressed I’m afraid. First pint was just okay but the second was bitter, as if the pipes had not been cleaned. I did go on a busy Saturday so perhaps the chaos was the reason for the poor quality. I may go back on a quieter midweek afternoon and make a judgement then. Otherwise not a great experience.
Was there last week, really nice bar, staff extremely friendly and good selection of beers. I didn't try the Guinness but my friends had a few and said they were decent.
Without a doubt Hasks is comedy gold. Stick a camera in front of him & he laps it up. Plus he can rip the piss out of himself too. Good banter with Daragh and pints looked 👌🏼. Shout out to Oisín's Barnet!
Based on this tried the Devonshire and tbh wasn’t blown away by the beer or any other recommendations for London pubs! Nothing compares to a Dublin pint, even the worst ones!!
I'm really loving these rugby player vids, would love to see Daragh continue in other places, rural Wales in a pub with players like Andy Powell Mike Phillips, Alun Wyn Jones and Scotland with Stuart Hogg, Van der Merwe, Ireland with O'Gara and BOD, that would be some craic with the lads, keep it up Daragh, great content
Went to the devonshire last week, got to say first pint was poured pretty quick, the lad didn't let it settle long enough and it tasted disappointing 2nd and 3rd was poured by someone different and was absolutely stunning, felt like drinking a meal, top notch guinness apart from the first
Darragh didn’t rate it, but we’ve just been, and yes. Yes it is. Be sure you get the barman from the video pour yours. Some of the younger staff aren’t as expert.
Let's fucking go! Guinness guru! Glad to see the new content love listening to the stories while drinking my own guinness.. definitely not as good as your guys over there across the pond.. canadian here wishing I could drink one of the guinness pints over there.. maybe 1 day
This might just be your best video yet! Great guest, the production is looking superb as well, and the landlord seems like a sound bloke too! Keep it up Daragh!
On the question of what it was like when the switch went to pro - Austin Healey actually touched on this in one of his books (think he has multiple). He was part of the last batch to enter the sport in the UK as an amateur, but really it's all he did. So Hask is obviously right, but there was this blurred era just prior to this. It was more similar to US college level sports. So 'star' players didn't have a day job, rugby is what they did. But they expensed everything and also had various deals with local dealerships etc - so nice car for free, mortgage payments, shopping was all expensed with an allowance. Austin claimed when the switch came in, players like him were actually worse off. It's quite an interesting time for rugby but in particular the home nations (I include Ireland in that). Ireland were trying to build a union that weren't the whipping boys of the 5 Nations, England were trying to build a squad to win a world cup, Scotland were just trying to survive so combined their clubs into the 2 they still have - Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh. Wales were somewhat in an unknown but managed to stay relatively strong. But players absolutely knew what they were worth, that was the whole argument. You had the old boys wanting to keep it amateur claiming money would ruin the game - and they may have been right. But there was money, it just wasn't going to the players. The 90s England squad went on strike... There was all this money floating around, big sponsors from BT Cellne t etc, but none of it making its way to the players beyond a free phone contract and a small reward. The players complained they're working for an international company and essentially doing it for free.
I was always told sticking the nozzle in is terrible as it goes stale under the inside which then affects the later pints pulled. Keep the nozzle away from it lads for Christ sake!🤦🏼♂️
No women watching?! Nah… we’re watching. Love the content - you’re a great presenter - and this video was hilarious! We’ve now tried the Devonshire and my husband is so happy to find such an excellent pint of Guinness in London! (As for us women watching, if I may be shallow (and a bit inappropriate!) of course we are watching! With apologies to Mrs. Guru - you’re quite easy on the eyes! 😉)
I assume they hand out glue with your pint if you think that’s London’s most popular pub… Just looks like yet another Paddy pub. Good luck to you if that’s what floats your boat. (Additional note: I wouldn’t drink Landlord ale even if they were giving it away) 🤨🥷
"Let it settle!"
"I'll settle you in a minute" 😂
Too right. Ask Clarkson. Clarkson knows. People like fast cars, they like females with big boobies, and they don't want the Euro
Great to see Daragh trying the best beer in the world, Timothy Taylor Landlord!! And I say that as a Guinness lover. Great vid.
Tim Taylor Golden landlord is the dogs..
Hard to find though.
It's not hard to find in London.@@anfear9764

James pretty down to earth and good to give you his time as an former England grand slam winner

What a song and dance we have been drinking Timothy Taylor landlord up in the north for years.
You and Frightened Irish are my favourite Irish content makers 😊
😂😂Great upload Daragh. James Haskell, what a funny fella. Legend. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Looks like a cracking pub. 👌🏻
James Haskel seems a top fella
I visited a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it (although the auld Shillelagh trumps it personally eyes). Can’t wait to go back
Now, this is my kind of TH-cam video hahaha.
Enjoyed that one! Haskell keeping you in your toes!
James looks like great company . Be some craic on a session
BRILLIANT! Loved this. Been to the pub, great craic and good food!
some great beer on sale there... shame about London prices

Haskell is a man you'd go on the beer with!

Great one Da. Really enjoyed that an will pay the gaff a visit next time I'm down there…..
Another quality video, more like this please. Good stuff.

Saw you in there but couldn’t get through the crowds to say hello, packed for a Tuesday!
"Stick it right in the bottom..." Music to my ears, matey.
Surprised Leo Sayer has time to run a pub x
What were the other two beers Oisin said were the best? I know one was landlord
He's come a long way from being turfed out of Clems in Navan 😜
Needs to go back there some time for a revenge pint. Do you know who I am?

Why does Haskell sound like David Brent
Went to the devonshire last week, got to say first pint was poured pretty quick, the lad didn't let it settle long enough and it tasted disappointing
2nd and 3rd was poured by someone different and was absolutely stunning, felt like drinking a meal, top notch guinness apart from the first
You didn't give the pint a rating Darragh, is it worth a Guinney pilgrimage up to Soho?
Darragh didn’t rate it, but we’ve just been, and yes. Yes it is. Be sure you get the barman from the video pour yours. Some of the younger staff aren’t as expert.
Defo worth a trip but try to avoid a busy Friday or weekend cos they fire out the pints without letting them settle.
cheers for the input guys
But I thought the god was in the detail 😂
Been a few times, gets so busy though . Great pint tho!
no, it is just the newest one.
Payed review so
The bald barman with the glasses hasn't got a clue no 45 degree angle
Is Oisin simply an opportunist out for money or does he genuinely love his work?
Is the pub bookings only or do they allow walk-ins?
It’s bookings only. I was in last week and was told they are booked up until June but check the website for cancellations.
@@johnbarrett1593shite fucking pub in my eyes
Absolutely epic video, proper effort nice one cheers 👍🍻
Off to pub,NOW. 🍺
Great vid thanks Daragh - was at the Devonshire yesterday!
Great video 🙌
I still think the Guinness in the Guinea grill is better than the Devonshire. Oisin's former pub.

So trying to warm to Hask in GBR...but struggling !!!

Daragh,
What's the minimum amount of views that you would consider a successful video?
Prob 20k

Cabbage Pztch in TW1 or several in Finsbury Park or Guinea Grill where you have been or The Albert in TW2

Come back days after making first comment to hate again did you get a bad review in your pub or something 😂
That was great stuff, thanks.
Really really great video
That Haskell is an annoying dose to listen too.

Always over packed and over priced, had to drink my pint on the street
