Between part 8 and 9, I bought a 2014 BRZ, threw a lot of mods at it, had a baby, and sold it (the BRZ, not the baby) for the family. One day I'll get another one and that will be the day that my BRZ/GT86/FRS LS swap begins.
Cd009 shifts way smoother than the T-56. Way better feeling. T56 always felt like shifting a truck to me. But the only thing is to make sure the rear end gear ration is low. That way shifting times are not crazy short.
This is an awesome choice because it gets to highlight how useful the sikky rear end will be to find the perfect gear ratio. Very smart move james. Hopefully we get to see various shifts changes details with your sikky rear end. Ive been debating between 8.8 swap or yours. Awesome.
I didn't know this myself, so I'll keep this in mind when it comes time to do my swap. I was initially going for a T56 Magnum, but my build will be a daily driver and comfort is key. I intend to keep all the factory comforts, A/C and Cruise Control, so I think you just convinced me to switch to a CD009 for more comfortable shifting.
@@tony-does-stuff It definitely is on my swap. In terms of reliability is will be plenty enough for a daily driver -(sub 600 WHP). Just keep in mind the rear end ratio to avoid having to shift all the time since the 6 gear on the cd009 feels like 5 gear on T56 but with the right rear end ratio it can make it exactly or close enough. I have seen 370z making well over 1k WHP and transmission holds fine for many passes. But anything over 600 WHP it will need too many sacrifices that will make it not comfortable for daily drive specially a light car like the gt86 platform. Just make sure you get the revised version of the transmission if used. Or I believe Nissan still sells them new and make sure to always use the correct oil, transmission oil are extremely complex due to the synchro tech and other parts on the trans.

Yeah, would have to agree on the smoother shift feel!
