Campbell is one of the most unique guitarists ever. His solos are so fucking amazing you can feel the emotion behind every note. No better combination than Mike's guitar and Tom's voice.
America lost its way. We exchanged wholesome Christian values for degenerate Hollywood indoctrination. We let a people who hates Jesus Christ run the show and now we're paying the price.
This is one of Tom’s first concerts after he smashed his hand into a wall and shattered every bone. The doctor told him he would never regain full use of his hand and probably not play guitar again. Aren’t we glad he was wrong?
@@pitpride1220 - No kidding! I can’t believe his wife and daughter didn’t do something to stop him like intercede with the band. They had insurance and the fans would have understood the postponement. Adria and Dana sure pay attention to him now by using his estate as a cash cow. Tom was never about the money, he left it all on the stage for his fans.
I love watching this live version. Tom Petty, we miss you, man! I can not believe you are gone. 💔😢 Thank you for the amazing music, you gave your heart and soul to us. An amazing forty years, may you rest in love and peace, Tom Petty, until we meet again. ✌💜
The communication between Stan and Tom was fantastic. Just watch how Tom presses his tongue against his cheek and Stan reacts instantly with the bass drum. Tom explained how this worked and he was very impressed by how Stan constantly observed even the smallest signal from him. I think The Heartbreakers were without a doubt an amazing band regardless of their line-up. Tom made sure it was that way, but the individual members were no doubt hugely competent as well.
Still love hearing this one by "Tom Peddy and the Heart Breakers," it came out the year I got my first adult crush Thanks guys. RIP Tom Peddy you I know your still rockin wherever you are in the spirit word , and hearing these jams it brings back a lot of nostalgia movements like riding in my new first vehicle a "Chevy Camaro RS with an V8 engine the parents made sure was in my ride before I had and went on a date with that crush.
Tom Petty has been singing/dancing like this to his songs, (he wrote) since the beginning! Have seen the great Mick Jagger too, saw Tom Petty 1st time in 1983 & then in 1997!! always blows the crowd away to all his great, sold-out shows! Sure miss all this great R&R!~
@TVC15ohoh Im 14 and I've seen him in concert, It is too bad that I couldnt see him in the 80's or 70's. I love Tom Petty and wont stop loving his music. Rock and Roll!!
"You Got Lucky" is my favorite Tom Petty song and one that I would play if I formed a band. Rest in peace, Thomas Earl Petty. Rock and roll sings the blues without you.
no kidding, i've always been a big fan of his and loved all his songs that I hear but I ordered the Runnin' down a dream 4 disc set and now i'm into him even more
Finally got to see Tom and the Heartbreakers perform this song live in Columbus, Ohio this last June. Glad I went. One of my all time favorite songs by one of my favorite artists. R.I.P. Tom Petty
same here man. I have seen Tom 4 times and not once has he played this song. Always been one of my favorites also. I was fortunate to hear face in the crowd and rebels at the Gorge in 08 and insider and stop draggin my heart around with stevie nicks. so i guess im not going to complain lol.
God he is so amazing...ive never had the connection to any music like I have with tom petty. He is in my opinion the greatest song writer of all time. I saw him in tour 3 years ago on my 17th birthday and it was the greatest experience of my life! I've never felt so high and I was completely sober ;)
Tom hasnt wrote a song that i havent liked really. Hes an excellent song writer and hes got Mike Campbell to lay down the lead licks that are just great. There are only a few bands that have suceeded in the music business 30 plus years. Thanks for all your years of great song's Tom and the Heratbreakers !
Man, he was one hell of a driver too. No wait that was Richard. I love this original MTV video for this song. I would watch it everyday before I got on the bus in elementary. great classic song to this day 2011.
Campbell is one of the most unique guitarists ever. His solos are so fucking amazing you can feel the emotion behind every note. No better combination than Mike's guitar and Tom's voice.
Yeah Campbell is one of the better rock guitarists of our generation for sure.
Thank you for NOT commenting him as "Underrated", sick of that shit.
Looking just like Paulie Shore !! 😂 Yea Campbell is a bad dude !!
Man it won't ever be as good musically as it was in the 70's and 80s...I'm so thankful to have been alive and young at that time.
Me too! I grew up in SF. What a ride!
petty is the heart ,campbell is the soul
These are the times when many of the greatest rockers are starting to leave us.....and with nobody to replace them.
righto
America lost its way. We exchanged wholesome Christian values for degenerate Hollywood indoctrination. We let a people who hates Jesus Christ run the show and now we're paying the price.
Long live the Rolling Stones
We are lucky we still have his music.
quality music transcends time
Damn right!
I sometimes get testy eyes when this song comes on but nowadays I definitely choke up when it plays. RIP Tom. Thank you for all you have done
Shit we got lucky be around with you and your music its all magically beautiful rest in peace Tom Petty you will be missed.
My JAM!! RIP Mr. Tom Petty... thank you for all the amazing music!!
As Petty's daughter said, her father is a BADASS !
Mike Campbell's use of the whammy bar is out of this world here. Every guitar part he plays here is unmatched.
This song takes me back to a less threatening time. Thank you Tom Petty. Rest In Peace.
Loved the background singers, gave the song that fullness it needs to stand up in live performances. What a song!
The Rebelettes were to die for!
This is one of Tom’s first concerts after he smashed his hand into a wall and shattered every bone. The doctor told him he would never regain full use of his hand and probably not play guitar again. Aren’t we glad he was wrong?
Doctor wasn't wrong to say that was the more likely outcome. 2nd most likely things happen up to 49.99% of the time.
They weren't wrong about him resting that hip. We lost him because of it.
@@srikothur2845 - Thank goodness Tom could afford the best healthcare.

I still get chills listening to that. It takes me right back....and I always feel the same. wow !? I can and do listen to it frequently.

It's so bittersweet.
