No matter where I see GFB parts being used or displayed I immediately think of Mighty Car Mods because that was the first place I had seen or heard of them.
rear mounted turbos - whats good whats bad and what would you do differently to make them better.. asking due to the engine compartment I am working with is small and I want to make it more of a sleeper looking build (if you don't know what you are looking for). keep up the fun vids cheers.
Been watching your vids for years and fell in love with the GTI because of you guys! I have my own mk8 and it’s got all the stage 3 goodies on it, including a GFB Diverter Valve + on the larger Garrett turbo. This new valve sounds amazing! The DV+ has no audible effect on the car, so do I get this one?!
I love GFB and actually bought the diverter valve for my mk8 gti because usp motorsports said it would fit but when I got it it didn’t have the mk8 GTI listed. Only the golf r. I put it on my car and drove around the block and it made no noise at all. I took it off so I didn’t mess up the car Do they have a diverter valve specifically for the mk8 GTI or only this blow off?
Did you buy a DV+ or VTA? A diverter valve (DV+) isn't meant to make noise, the VTA does that job. I need to clarify the Mk8 GTI fitment - the vehicle shown in the video is an Australian delivered model, which has the engine from the Mk7, not the newer EVO4 EA888 that the rest of the world gets. This one has a Pierburg OEM diverter, the gen 4 gets the Continental OEM diverter, which is a different fitment. Currently, the T9401 VTA shown in this video is only for engines with the Pierburg diverter, so that's Mk7 GTI and R, and Australian delivered Mk8. We will be making a version for Mk8 R and overseas Mk8 GTI soon. In the meantime, we do have the other type of VTA (doesn't have the trumpet) that fits Mk8, it is part # T9480. So yes, we have BOVs and diverter valves to suit both types of factory diverter.
Recently I installed a BOV on a new Troc R, it felt slightly laggy after install. After abit of research I found that the engine needed that pressure recirculated into the intake. Can you explain abit more if possible ?
There's no improvement to be made with a bov really except for mad shhhht shhhht noise you will most likely lose performance unless your doing a fully built motor with a big turbo and stand alone ECU then a bov may save a motor from over boost. I noticed they had an adjustment screw on this for the spring pressure and in my not overly educated opinion your asking for trouble unless you are doing tuning as well I've got a golf r and ponder trying one of these but just know that the stock recirculation system works best even on 500 hp builds.
Similar to the response above, venting the blow-off air back to the intake doesn't mean you're "putting boost back into the system". Once it vents, it's no longer boost, regardless of where you send it. The Troc R also doesn't have a MAF sensor, meaning the ECU doesn't know (or care) where the air was vented. How much and when the BOV vents has more impact on the feel of the car than where the air is vented, so it's possible this is what you're experiencing, but there are a huge number of variables in addition. If you suspect an issue, the first thing I always highly recommend is A-B-A testing, using the exact same driving conditions to reduce the number of variables. Making one change and noting a performance difference needs to be verified by reversing the change and checking if the performance difference follows the change. Keeping the driving conditions is important, because the way the ECU spools the turbo can be affected by what you were doing BEFORE you nailed the throttle.
As I said to another comment mad shhhht shhhht noises that's all he said he put one on a t-rok and found it laggy which is the general thing I've seen on my research to possibly purchase one for my golf r so for now I'm still sticking with the stock system
@@Guillermoherrera22 Sure, the T9401 will fit the Borg Warner EFR flange and plug into the Mk7.5 wiring loom. Looking at the location of the OEM diverter on the APR EFR kit, it looks like you should have clearance for the trumpet but it's worth checking that. Since the bolt pattern of the diverter valve is symmetrical, you can position the T9401 in whichever orientation suits your clearance, and the slots allow you about 15 degrees of rotation within each of the 3 possible positions. Send us a video when you're done!
Please do a video about blow off valves for the Volvo V40 2.0L petrol! I’ve rang and emailed GFB multiple times and cannot make sense of the differences between installs of the DV+ or VTA 🤦🏽♂️ or which ones correct for my car lol I ordered one from TurboSmart which said it was for my car, totally wasn’t! I’m running one of the fastest ones of these that I know of on the planet 385BHP 550Nm but I neeeeeeed more whooshy noises!
We don't currently have any valves listed for the 2.0L V40. If you can send some photos of your factory valve to our support email, we'd be happy to see if we have anything that may fit.
Not on these cars, there is no MAF sensor. Even on cars with a MAF, if you get the spring pre-load right the impact is negligible. The injectors are usually shut off on decel which happens to be the same conditions when the BOV is venting.
I have a question for GFB Brett - will you buy me a 2025 Subaru BRZ, swap the engine out for a Chevy "Apollo" LT6 engine, and fit twin turbos to it for me? That's all I want! I've got a ticket for the $100 million lottery draw coming up next week, but if I don't win can he do it for me for free?
They need to make a MCM edition of a blow-off valve that sounds like a goat.
I used to be a fan of this show. Now I'm a full blown air conditioner
fantastic comment
Cool joke

DaaaaaAAAAAAAAd!
you're a heat pump now?

GFB Brett.
Damm. Memories
What a throwback! I remember watching Go Fast Bret when it first came out!
that drum and bass is some of the best ive ever heard
That was certainly a Mighty Car Mod. Thanks brother.❤
Holy shit it's been YEARS since the last GO FAST BRETT episode! Like, a decade!
My Subaru sounded like that, right up until a Mercedes decided it didn't like the noise. My GFB was 16 years strong.
The return of the King.
So many throw backs “here’s the tools you’re going to need” oooooo ❤️❤️❤️
The return of Brett! Incredible
That Mark 8 GTI look amazing it will be really fast with Blow off Valve Well Done Moog Brett 👏👏👏👏👏
Can you do a video of them showing how to install a GFB DV+ onto a MK8 R? It's underneath the engine and a total nightmare!

Brett is back everyone!
Have the same car same color, just in the autobahn spec. Would love to see more even though you already did your R.
Love your guys VW content!
Let's get the Roadkill crew back together down under 🎉🎉🎉🎉. my car goes pshhh pshhh
Ay, g'day Brett, good to see ya again.
I'm glad to see they finally let Brett out of that cage. 😆
good to see brett again

Educate me if I'm wrong but, why this over the diverter valve? I'm thinking with a DV we wouldn't be sacrificing the boost versus on the BOV.

Please can you ask GFB if they will do a similar product for an Up GTi? Thanks 😊
Sorry guys, the lack of a factory valve on the Up! along with its compact engine bay make it difficult to put a BOV like this on there.

@ Excellent!! I’ll be buying it right away! I’ll uploead a short in youtube and @ you guys! Thanks for the info!!
will this fit my Honda?
Yes.
Love it. Great stuff.
Will it work with a pod filter?
do the yaris/gr corolla next!
would he be interested in doing an explainer episode on the twin turbo set up on the rx7. I just bought one and its a little intimidating lol
More BMW products please GFB!!
Yes!
What is the exact part no., is it this on the GFB site T9480?
Do you do something similar for a 4.2tdi Q7?
can you interchange the trumpet

Has brett got a built in BOV? They're some strong essessssss
Does this fit on a Golf R too?
It's been so long!

Do BOVs cause a stock car to go rich on decel as it's letting out air ?

Awesome quality product, but did anyone actually think it sounds good?
Sounds Godawful, IMHO.
No, it sounds dreadful.
I wish they showed what the original sounded like to compare
I liked it, though I’m contrary as heck
@@AfferbeckBeatsTheres no sound with the stock one. This one partially vents to atmosphere, hence the sound
Super cool awesome sauce
Holy crap it's been too long!
Sounds like a VK commodore power steering belt 😂😂😂
is this a repost?

i've always wanted to know how much of an indesirable effect flutter is. Is it really that destructive to the impeller/turbo?

Something special for the euro market in other words for all the European cars that throw up an engine light if a mosquito farts in the engine bay 😂

Now try & do an install video of a BOV on the new R, absolute nightmare of a position to get too, definitely not a 10min job…! 🤬
Yeah, they're not fun! One of the 3 screws on the diverter needs a bunch of extensions and flex joints, or drop the charge pipe!
So fast they forgot the comparison.
The comparison... is silence
