Daniel's body language was brilliant. Showing contained excitement intentionally must have registered as bluff to Phil
i noticed too, all that movement, the ear touch lol all mimic to make him think hes bluffing

my favorite Phil Hellmuth meltdowns are the ones he has against other players but Negreanu is also at the table and just constantly pours gas on the fire.

This is one of the rare videos where he is actually blaming himself for not correctly reading Daniel's hand when he had enough clues but decided to ignore them. This is Not blowing up.

Yea and he even tells Daniel nice hand at the end.
He literally said that they have no F-ing clue on these pots, acting like he is better than everyone after he loses a big pot (despite Negreanu being one of the best players and most earnings in the world), which is his typical blow-up speech. Essentially he was saying what Negreanu was doing was stupid, which is why he didn't put him on the hand (except that's what you want to do in poker which Phil often does not understand, Negreanu frequently calls this out as it is not uncommon for Phil to do).

This is why Daniel laughs when Phil catches him bluffing, because he gets to laugh when he's not. Hellmuth celebrates when he takes chips off the kid, but Negreanu laughs because he knows they're coming straight back, and with interest.

High Stakes Poker is the absolute best Poker show of all time. I agree with Jerry Buss its worth paying the antes to see it! So many legendary moments here, legendary players. This show was IT, I can remember playing with the boys with this on tv in the background and we'd stop the play just to watch big hands lol

Not enough can be said about just how awfully Phil played that hand. Every play he made was totally wrong. He absolutely deserved to lose this one.
I mean... clear overbet could suggest a bluff. He flopped aces was kind of hard to get away from. Plus this is Daniel and they know each other well. I dunno tho I haven't jumped on the bandwagon and blindly hate on phil, he's probably just trash
@@charlesmartiniii1405 He gave away his hand at the turn letting Daniel know he had weak top pair. Daniel's river bet showed he had him beat. Maybe he was priced in but Phil should have known that was a perfect bet for a strong hand.
Phil wants to make a call that makes him feel like a hero. He always does this, he makes stupid calls, because on the off-chance he's right he'll feel like a superhero.
