If you listen, a few of the other players say something like "are you really going to try that?". Back in the old old days, just before internet poker, a lot of pro players would say AK o > AKs because you can make 2 flushes instead of one. This was a real thing a lot of people did, so he might be partially joking here, but this was an old school "angle" before people applied much math to the game.

Hellmuth once made a bet with some other player that an unsuited hand is favorite against a suited hand and all the pros thought it was hilarious. So this is what Farha is referring to. Shows just how much Phil relies on his incredible luck to win in poker.

I remember something from, I think, the original super/system. Brunson was in a hand with Sklansky in stud hi/lo (I can't remember if it was 8 or better or declare) and I can't remember the exact hands, but they kept raising back and forth on the first 4 cards until they got it in. Brunson had something like a pair and 3 to a low (again I don't remember the exact hands at all) and Skalansky just had 4 to a low with maybe a gutshot or something. Point is, Sklansky admonished Brunson for getting so much in as something like a 60/40 dog and Brunson wrote, in the book, "I realized I had to take this math stuff more seriously". It's kinda shocking, if you look back to the real old timers, how long it took for math to actually make its way into the minds of some of the best in the game. As someone that's played at a moderate to high level since 2003, it's hard to believe guys like Brunson, Cloutier, probably Hellmuth got so far and were as successful as they were based on pure instinct. Anyway, yeah you're right about the specific jab to Hellmuth.

Sammy Farha is one of my favorite players. He was a great final boss at the WSOP for Moneymaker. He should’ve beat him, but that was straight out of the movies.

televised poker is the 1% of the money this guys move. They make their money by milking rich bored people in private games and they cash in a lot of minor tournaments. PH is one of those businessmen milkers.
Phil is so bad, even in the hand he won against farha. Why raise to 35 there with AQ? Could bet less for same information and now you're pot committed with a trash hand in that spot.
