Rust everywhere, hood and body decomposing and the engine still runs normally after being left to rot for 18 years with a replacement fuel pump and unjamming the alternator. Best example of japanese cars reliability that i have ever seen, these things are freaking war tanks!
Однозначно лучше , пластик недолговечен , и да у нас в Сибири эти машины бегают до сей поры , правда не такие гнилые , качество тех годов тойоты просто зашкаливает , сейчас они красивые , но недолговечные .
it is indeed great, but I think it would be even better if the cars were actually repaired, not just started and ran like junk. A car like this needs a lot of work, I know, but actually fixing them is so rewarding.
They dont make like this anymore, perfect engine like if it was runing 5minutes ago,my uncle still have one of this, never give him nothing major and the Fiat 125P another good example. This is The AE82 Corolla was manufactured and sold in the 80s and 90s. In Japan it was manufactured and sold under the name "Corolla FX." At the time it was a "hot hatch" car that competed with the Honda Civic and Mazda Familia, and was in the same class as the VW Golf. The highest performance model was the "Corolla FX GT," which was equipped with the same 4A-G engine as the so-called AE86 Corolla Levin. It is a very rare car now.
The exact model code is EE90 in this case, with the 2E-E engine. I had the same model for a few years and a AE92 with the 4AGE 20V swap inside. Still miss them :-)
No surprise..It's a Toyota! I still own my first car, a 1990 Starlet, 1000cc, carbureted and point ignition engine. Just a few spots of rust, runs great. If Toyota could produce it again, I would by two of them.
Toyotas are much different today than they were 30 years ago. With all the EPA-required garbage electronics, evap & VVT systems, hybrid systems, etc, etc, etc. you will never see these "revivals" with modern cars, including modern Toyotas, as they age. Modern cars are over-engineered and made to be disposable, to maximize profits. Simplicity = Reliability. Always.

My Toyota starlet also using this engine, but still use carburetor and platinum ignition. This engine super reliable, easy to mantain. The only thing to remember, this engine still use timing belt, not chain
I have a similar car in daily use, very reliable, the world's strongest serial engine! If you keep the rust away, it will last for years! Greetings from Finland
Toyota is always a Toyota ... Change new front and rear fender , New 4 absorbers , 4 doors , New floor plate , front and rear Bonet welding and repaint , New engine oil , flush brake fluid , flush new gear-box oil , All new internal carpet covering , DUCARO SEATS ...Sell off and make some $$$ ...! * Suitable for rally car ... IN MALAYSIA A LOT OF LOVERS ON THIS CAR.
For a minute I thought I would have to take back all the praise I had used on the Corolla but the poor thing just started right up. I had the 4 door hatchback version. In Australia it was badged as CSi Limited and it had the 1.6 litre 4AFE engine. Fantastic car, went really well and handled excellently. This one seems to be sadly beyond help but it sounded really good echoing through the trees. 😊👍
I mean, I wouldn’t be so sure because not only Is it rusted but literally the only light on the car that works is the left turn signal on the side of the cover over the tire and the back brake light for headlights
This has to be a sign to literally before watching or running in to this video.. today.. I just started my Toyota conquest 1997 after not running for about 7 months
That's amazing you got it running reminds me of the Toyota Hilux on Top Gear they couldn't kill it ! Body is rotten but the engine is still good ! Unreal well done !
next time it would be cool if you walk us through what you're doing. I'm not a car guy but I'm trying to revive my friend's old Corolla so that would be helpful. other than that, great video.
I had a 1986 nissan Bluebird 2.0 petrol with the bonnet missing, so the engine was naked for a couple of years under a tree with leaves ,rain, and snow in uk . When i tried starting with a new battery, the nissan engine started on the first turn. I was so shocked that a car could do that after what it had been through.
I had 5-door hatchback of this as my first car in 2007, was a perfect car for new driver, withstoods all the punishment you throw at it haha. This must be '90-'92 car, since it's fuel injected, 1.3L 2E-E engine, mine was carbureted 2E one. Guaranteed that it was gonna start immediately with fresh petrol and a battery. Rest of the car is however just too far gone, maybe some parts are worth to save though.
@@krus180Windows, emblems, headlight glass, interior might've molded too much already. Rear end also has solid steel suspension arm rods compared to EE80's pressed sheet steel ones, which rusted away. Not that these are valuable to restore though, they made millions of these + shitload of them have been imported to Africa during past decades.
Not much left of that one but revived into life! Almost sounded like a world car through the forest!! Thought you would need the sweeping brush after the jet wash 🤣 great vid 👍
Well done Comrade. Seems none of these wrecks has defeated you yet! 🛠👍 I thought you was on WRC @ 19:08 lol!! 😅 That tractor lifted the car like it was nothing. Impressive. 💯🇬🇧😉
The A-series engines on that generation of corolla (4A-FE, 4A-GE, 7A-FE) will probably running on the other side of the heat death of the universe Same for the 1.3s like in this video

🥲
Eh, this is easy. Next time, try something harder. Like, "Starting Alfa Romeo Tonale after sitting for 5 hours".
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
-Body rusted almost completely in half
- Rear axle falling off
- Front springs likely collapsed
but runs and drives like new...i love toyota!
Rust is the enemy of old Toyotas. As long as the rust is kept at bay the rest of the car will run just about forever.
Old Toyota never dies. The only thing that kills them is rust.
Yeah. I'm not gonna die yet.
Sadly this one looks like it's on its way out :(
Only car brand that will survive an apocalypse 🥇
Not even knocking or valve ticking when started after 18 years is truly mind-blowing.
Those lights made from glass are better than the ones on newer Toyota which are made of plastic ✌️

Newer? Plastic headlights have been around since the mid 90's.
its called reflector headlamp
For real💀🔥🗣️
True, the front light are infact glass, sidelights tho are plastic
My 36 year old Corolla starts reliably every day on the first turn of the key and it's carbureted too.
😮 88 was a great year for Toyota
That a 2e? how many k's or miles?
Another beauty from the golden era of Toyota. These cars may rust… but the engines will never give up.
You are buying/obtaining more and more rusty remnants of the cars and you still make them work. That is really impressive.
it is indeed great, but I think it would be even better if the cars were actually repaired, not just started and ran like junk. A car like this needs a lot of work, I know, but actually fixing them is so rewarding.
Best sounding exhaust I've ever heard!
Still doing it's job after 34 years what a machine.
What an amazing sounding engine! for its year and condition, this goes to show hoy Toytas are the most durable engines out there! great revival guys!
Ain't nothing tougher than a Japanese-made Toyota.

Unbelievable how quiet valves still are in the engine after all those years of standing.
