What a stunning ride that was, those big climbs are always tough but worth it for the descent😁I managed to get out yesterday after 5 days of awful weather, only 58 miles witn 3500ft of climbing but it was so good to get out👍Like you I also got wet😂I even saw Chester's double near Edinburgh😁
Kyle might not have liked the idea of Winnats, but he just got on with it. Cold, cold, cold ... and windy .... but some of the views looked stunning (great to be alive moments). Winnats in the headwind, in those temperature and at those percentages ... was a typical Amy 'n Kyle ride. Bonkers and great entertainment for us all. Made me smile, thank you.
Watching from NZ. You guys are so strong mentally to climb like you do, and also the milage you do. Amy your constant commentary is amazing considering the effort you are putting in on the bike. What also amazes me is the weather you ride in - tough as.
Got to be the best cycling based channel by far both so natural which people can relate too so enjoyable being from Sheffield and now in Norfolk I really miss the Hills . Keep up the Good work and both have a Great Christmas x
When I am out running and I have a meltdown, I do an internal primal scream and then make stupid pop sounds on each footfall, like a train, lol. Just a roar without actually making any sound, other than a quiet growl. Whether it's an adrenaline thing or it kicks off a flight or fight response, I don't know - but it works for me. It's so easy to shut down out in the tranquil countryside. The roar starts me back up. Well done to you both. Amazing job - amazing video. Thank you.
That climb looked super hard, but amazing scenery! Amy maybe you just needed a bit more food in you before you hit the climb? I know that you don't like using gels but they do work!
Great to see you cycling again, and well done on conquering your fears and Winnat's Pass! Look at having a different gear ratio as good training. As for cold feet, Lake Winter road shoes are amazing for those cold rides. Pricey, but worth every penny.
Your face when you bit into the cake! 😍 I remember riding up Winnats in about 1984 with full double rear panniers. We camped near the top, over the other side somewhere.
So glad this turned into a fun ride w/ the blister finally behaving! I saw Dame Laura got her new road bike; you two need to invite them out for a ride in the Peaks.
Great effort. I did Winnatts a long while back on a hybrid before I really took up cycling (not done it since). I had to stop about 4 times on the way up, could barely get started again. As I got near to the top an elderly couple also gave me a round of applause. The hill you enjoyed freewheeling down is called Mam Nick. We have some of the best cycling in the country in and around Derbyshire. Make a note of a little village called Hartington. Beautiful there. There are also a couple of very good Audaxes from Cromford.
Well done for getting up there . I casually ride and watch u guys for inspiration.i know for a fact id have fallen off early on trying to climb that behemoth .
Wonderful light and sky on the descent ! Next time you are struggling on a climb, imagine all of us, your fans, lining the side of the road, all shouting "Allez Amy, allez Kyle " !!!
Ive not done Winnats for 40 years and Speedwell Cavern looks just the same over the cattle grid at the bottom. Going down always used to be quite dangerous as you frantically braked on 19 or 20mm tubs to go over the cattle grid at the bottom.
The giddiness was real in this video :D . I'm with you on the inactivity side of things. Think I've got the illness you guys had. 5 days in & this bug is no joke! Don't think I've had 5 days off in a row all year. Well done the pair of you on that climb too!!
@@Daimoku1938 Nah. Thought it might've been when the taste went a couple days ago but covid test says not so. Must just be a bad flu or something. Garmin's body battery gave me full on orange for 3 days solid. Not really how I pictured spending my 2 week annual leave though.
A lovely part of the world - I was there just a few weeks ago. Have MTBd Mam Tor and Winnats (with some pushing admittedly), but haven’t attempted it on a road bike - there’s a bit too much traffic these days for my liking…….
1st time watching your vid, it was great!! I was the elf behind the Christmas Puddings 😂 Wish I’d known earlier and you could have borrowed the outfit 😊😂
It was such a great day, started out at 9.30 and everybody we passed smiled and waved! Bit different from the usual reactions to the lycra clad cyclists 😂😂 Glad we could all spread some Christmas cheer ❤
Those Compeed Blister Extreme plasters work really well because they literally fuse (not a medical term) onto the the blister and help in healing and also if in the middle of a run.
I recently bought the mens version of the MAAP Winter training jacket, I didn't get it for the bargain price you did mind! Fanatstic jacket, I do agree with it being very difficuly to access the pockets!
Great video again guys!! About de-layering when indoors, that's actually a misconception! Unless you need to dry off from sweating - you're better off keeping layers on and heating up as much as possible so when you do go outside in the cold it may be a shock but your core temperature is still high and will remain much higher than if you de-layered! :)
Have you entered the Fred Whitton event next season ? This sort of ride is an ideal prep for that one. Winnats is a nice climb when its quiet and not so many cars on it. Going down it is a bit of a brake squeezer as not many bends on it.
Hey, I was one of the 2 Xmas puddings you saw in Belper, part of the Belper Bicycle Club Xmas ride, there were 80 riders in total. We were the back markers 🤦
Some great scenery.... adverse weather conditions.. You could see the what the weather was like ( except for the guy wearing the shorts @16.06 lol ) ...... MY guess is once you got warmed up it made it all worth while... very nice interesting video.. Ps .I hope you rinse off the dishes and water bottles etc and everything after washing them in dish soap if you don´t i would highly recommend doing this.
hello amy, another great video, I have a question: what does the law say in england about rear lights? here in france they've just banned flashing red lights, I find that counterproductive for cyclist safety. what's your opinion?
It's not the climb that scares me it's the traffic on winnets .. single on the front but isn't your big gear at least 1/1 like 42/42 ? I need less than that 😅 fantastic effort ..... I have been up your decent from edale
I don’t understand why your buying MAAP jackets, MAAP need to wake up and give you a sponsorship asap. You guys are great ambassadors for amateur cycling.
"I just bought this top for £100 in the sale... but Kyle, you cost us £8 in coffee, and you know we're saving up for our home extension". Warm words there, Amy. 😵💫😳😲 ps. Foot long chocolate cake £1.99 Aldi. 🟫🟫🟫🟫🟫🟫

Haha whatever works for you 😂 I can imagine that being helpful though!! Aww thank you thanks for watching ☺️
Wow I just paused at 12:18 to Say Impressive Way to go Team !!!! 🚲🚲

It was haha but defo worth it for the views! Yes I just needed a little something for energy 🤦♀️
U done it again;, champ Kyle 🎉. Really king of mountain Kyle. ✈️ That's awasome man. Look like pro. Excellent. 💯

I went to heaven! 😂 ahh bet it was cold camping up there!
Well done to you both that hill looked pretty hard well done Amy for getting to the top you guys are the best ❤❤
Thanks so much ☺️
Glad you got over your wobble at the bottom of Winnats, you, young lady, are a star.
What a beautiful place! Glad to see you guys back on the bikes.
So glad this turned into a fun ride w/ the blister finally behaving! I saw Dame Laura got her new road bike; you two need to invite them out for a ride in the Peaks.
Good idea, I would like to see Amy and Kyle ride again with Laura & Jason Kenny. They could both babysit for the Kenny’s.

Thanks for watching! Haha yes it was defo a burner I was worried about falling off 🤦♀️😂
I'm a mountain biker and don't like road riding and probably won't ever do it , but love the videos and watch them all the time. keep them coming 😁👌👍
Ahh thanks so much for watching ☺️ I’d probably never do mountain biking 😂 too scary for me!
@@amy.cycling.adventures I would say the same about road biking 🤣
Wonderful light and sky on the descent ! Next time you are struggling on a climb, imagine all of us, your fans, lining the side of the road, all shouting "Allez Amy, allez Kyle " !!!
You should get thermal overshoes, waterproof and warm, cold always starts from feet and head...
Yes I need to - was a lot colder than I expected 🤦♀️

Hi Amy you have got your exposure rear light mount upside down 👍🏾👍🏾
Yes haha it’s on purpose so I don’t blind riders behind me, it’s very bright when dark 😂

It's winter cold and wet weather, where are your bloody mud guards guys 😮
Great climbing team 👏most people aren’t leaving the living room at the moment 😁👊
Great effort up that climb, it’s a tough one.😮
Hi Amy what cassette and chainring ratios do you use for Road when using your gravel bike 👍👍
Nice ride guys!❤
Thanks for watching! ☺️

Proper Derbyshire hills, well done.
Thanks! ☺️
Hi could you show us how to plan a route and upload it on a cycle computer some time .
Got to love the bonus climb up to Mam Nick 🙈
Didn’t realise I’d planned that into the route 😂
19:51 Welcome back to Spelling With Amy.
Smashing those hills again even you didn't think so.
Btw what bar bag is Kyle using?
Kyle should consider using a rear light on days like this
I have tried to tell him 🤦♀️

Thanks!! It’s a nike running headband ☺️

I paint a bit of Second Skin on first and then Compeed blister plasters. Will not roll off with sweat/wet or shoe rub.

You do like a cruncher... But nan bread 😂
