It’s worth just knocking on a locals door and ask for some sugar to put in your bottle and water if you ever get in that state before. I’m type 1 diabetic and ran out of food/drink while out on a big ride in Portugal and everything was shut. Had to take that option and the local was more than happy to help. Felt like a new man afterwards.
Bonking before a little hill back into Kendal on a hot day when I'd forgotten about fuelling, I asked a lady pottering about in her garden in Levens for some sugar in my bottle. She just looked at me, like I'd asked her to give me all her jewellery. Wasn't happy. Eventually she agreed to give me a spoon or two in my water and popped into her house. Meanwhile, someone who'd overheard our rather weird chat offered me a Snickers. I thanked her but declined.
Awesome video! You guys are so fun. I have made the mistake of not carrying enough to eat many times and suffered the dreaded bonk. Hopefully you have had a great weekend!
Only found your channel recently, literally been back to the beginning & now caught up. Thoroughly enjoyed! I’m always toying with the idea of filming my training/video diary , if anything for my daughter to look back at her grumpy old man back in his late twenties maybe 2025 I’ll pluck up that courage 😅
Enjoyed watching you both cycling through beautiful scenery. Next time make sure to fuel yourselves properly for the ride. I was nervous for poor Kyle 😂😂 Keep up the good content!!🚴🏻♂️🚴♀️❤️
Fantastic video!!! 'Calpe, also known as... Spain!', err, okaaay! 😝I LOVE the banana holster! Your terrace is amazing! Please show us a night time view.
Lovely to follow your adventures :) Here in Sweden, we were a group that cycled around a large lake called Vättern on 1 February. It was a bit cold. We drove with studs front and back. What we had to fight haha. Good luck with everything you do and well done :)
Shame about the wind but what a place to ride a bike, so beautiful👌9600ft of climbing with very little food is insane😂I'm surprised you both had fingers left after finding that shop😉Awesome video Amy, looking forward to more Spanish adventures😊
Did the same thing in Val d'ebo a couple of years ago, mistimed our lunch stop and was in the mountains with everything shut .. it happens, anyway great video you 2 👍
As none of the pro teams will not give Kyle a contract he needs to start his own team. Full team of bricklayers, Nige and your Dad, move over Jumbo Visma.
Well done you two, we've all been there, "sailing close to the rocks" on a "low battery" Humble can of Coke can work wonders if you start hitting the "woozy" zone. Hope that sore throat is not a precursor to full blown lurgy Amy. Farewell departing "gift" from the UK ! Resulting in a CovFluMonkeypox week of feeling lousy :( Maybe check out the Calpe Car Boot Market, grab some 1,000mg Vit C. Might ward it off. Have a great time you two ☀️ 🇪🇸 🍊🐿
Hi guys, great video as usual. What a stunning location. Remember one of my earlier comments though. Always take gels and fluids, as much as you can on long rides. The body switches from glycogen ( sugars) for energy to fat after about 2 hours of continuous medium level sporting activity. Fat does not give you nearly as much energy as sugars so you will most definitely "bonk" if you don't keep your sugar energy and food fuel levels up. It's important not just for the ride you're on, but if you go too deep on one ride regarding fuel, it can take days to build your body's reserve levels back up to normal, which means that riding for consecutive days and not being able to regain high enough sugar levels is going to result in permanent damage to muscles. The muscle tissue becomes weaker and connot sustain even normal daily function and I'm guessing that's not where you want to go. Long rides yes absolutely, adequate food and energy even more so. I can tell you this because I've done it to myself when I was starting out thinking that I could ride hundreds of miles in training prior to a race like some kind of pro cyclist. Didn't get it all wrong!! I was peddling squares for the last 30 kilometers of a 110 kilometer race and was almost pushing the bike up the hills. I didn't make that mistake again I can tell you. Anyway I just love your enthusiasm and keep the joy and the love. I am already looking forward to the next vid TTFN.
@@amy.cycling.adventures You're very welcome. The distances you're riding are not insignificant, and no matter how accustomed your body is to long stints in the saddle, you must keep fueling up for energy. Even the pro's have to remember to do it. Drink and eat at 10 to 15 minute intervals for rides of an hour or longer, and don't wait until you're thirsty to take a drink, by then it's probably too late to catch up the deficit. I learned that from my marathon running days.
You can get a two Euro breakfast in Benidorm down the road if you hunger knock while out in that direction . :). Massive bonk on the first day that was. Its easy to get carried away with the nice looking Weather when you arrive in sunnier climates away from the British Weather.
Bonking is apart of cycling, it's funny how close it feels like death but it's impossible to ask random ppl for food or water or even calling for a ride, id rather die i think lol. but some how we can keep on pushing. It's really a good test of will power and commitment. At the end of it you'll be better for it.
Hace poco que me aparecen tus videos.... Que bueno que puedan hacer lo que más les gusta, el ciclismo..... Acá se pedalea a 37 grados en promedio porque estamos en verano.... Saludos cordiales y bendiciones desdé chile 😊
You're super gorgeous Amy inside and out,Kyle is a top bloke, love following your adventures, this by golly is a big one, you've got this, one climb at a time x
Regarding stretching. I had a 20 minute stretching program which was actually the warmup routine for a Jane Fonda Workout video back in the 1980s. It went literally from head to toes and enabled me to stretch every important muscle group prior to starting my training - and again when I finished. There are probably better ones, but that one always kept me injury-free when I was a runner, and I still employ my own version of it today. It makes me feel ready for my ride when I start, and it aids my warm-down when I've finished. I think it's every bit as useful and important as the workout itself. If you want to see the original Jane Fonda vid, here's the link. th-cam.com/video/fwQ1PrED9IE/w-d-xo.html
I really try to like your videos and refrain from sounding negative but ..if i was your sponsors/coach id call you bad influencers🙄 ... common sense isnt so common 😒..so much for me not sounding negative but honestly
Honestly, what is the point of this negative, ambiguous comment? There's nothing constructive or helpful about it. No one is forcing you to leave a comment 😂 To Amy, thank you for your content! You've inspired me to start training for my first brevet!

Thank you ☺️ beautiful area 😍
What a beautiful place for a ride!
I have ridden round there a few times as I live about 2 hours away. The descent off Val de Ebo is cool. The area is a great place to ride.
Ahh nice!! You live in a great cycling area 😍
Ohhh Kyle we love you ❤
Well that was shambolic 😉 Best to learn now before you get to France!
Harsh... but true 😆
Glad you took it easy on your first day in Calpe😂. I bet that super mercado was like an oasis to the eyes especially Kyle’s 😅
Yes it was 😅😅
Did the same thing in Val d'ebo a couple of years ago, mistimed our lunch stop and was in the mountains with everything shut .. it happens, anyway great video you 2 👍

Well done to you both. I always eat the night before a ride or exercise
Super ride Kudos for getting that done with minimal food
Thank you 🙂

There are lots of cafes inland from Calpe need to ask and plan your ride accordingly
13:48 Amy talks incessantly on the climb while he is behind her dropped :)

It is awful when you run out of food and have to plod back. Felt for you. Beautiful roads ... amazing winds. Gong to be interesting.

How’s your camera attached? Using a cell phone ?? Dr Dave
It’s a go pro and it’s a mount under my Garmin & a selfie stick go-pro
Remember to go to Cafe Seamos, best Cafe in the Calpe, Carrer la Santamaría, 10, 03710
Ohh we found that one 😍 we love it there!
I made the mistake of doing 8 hours of excersize once on just breakfast and ended up fainting! I don't think Kyle was far off!
Oh no!! Yes he wasn’t good!
I'm sure you past two Greggs 😉
😅😅
Yipee
Every day’s a school day eh! You know the drill about having an elevated pulse before a ride, check and be sensible, think of July?
Thanks for verifying this is just a commercial for APEX.
Not just a commercial we haven’t been paid for it - just being honest that we were invited to stay

It's ok to recognize that you're the main character in your story..
how was ride
I enjoy you and Kyle rides, Thanks.
Didn't think Spain was letting tourists in now.
Porridge lots and lots of porridge
That’s my fav 😍
noisy brakes there kyle
That's why I'm selling my disc brake bike. I'm sick of that noise. It's rim brake for me now.
And he's supposed to have had his bike serviced!
@@Raymond-Farts neither of my disc brake bikes sound like that.
ride safe Pretty Amy.
Just the elevation would need 2500kcal to lift an 85kg body up 9000ft of climbing. Add 95 miles and this was a >5000kcal day, not a 1 banana day 😂
Sorry Amy ,but Gala’s a great apple
Well when you're new to cycling your gonna make a few BLEEDING obvious mistakes......but your sorted now.......
'Ull' east yorkshire.
For the love of god what’s with that cap Kyle! You are too old to be in a boy band! 😮😂😂😂
