    I like the style of the CB1100, but when I sat on it, it felt so heavy. The Z900RS felt very nimble when I sat on it and when I bought one I found out it really is. :)

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The Z900RS is nimbler anyway, but the heavier CB1100RS is actually very nicely balanced so you totally forget its weight as soon as you ride it... I wish you many safe and fun rides with your Z900RS :)

      I have a 2014 cb 1100. I felt that maybe I bought more bike in weight than I wanted. I talked with another guy about that, and he said, give it time. I couldn't be happier, I'm happy with the weight for highway travel, and I now quickly forget each time I ride it, just how much it weighs. On the side roads, and highway it handles like it's a part of you. It never feels to heavy, the balance is so incredible. A lot of fun. I've always been a crotch rocket fan, and this handles, in many ways the same...

    Beautiful review. I really appreciated your humble disclaimer but ultimately discovered it was unnecessary, as your observations and analysis are more thoughtful and measured than many professionals. And your English is superb. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the review but it was great fun seeing the streets of what I assume to be Paris from a rider's-eye view. Thank you.

    They are both good bikes, but I think the Kawasaki has better handling and it has more power. Anyway, I bought the Kawasaki 900RS three weeks ago after thinking about it for about a month, and I’m very happy with it and I know I made the right choice for me.

      Thanks. I’ve done nearly 3,000 kms and it is run in.
      I love the power, the handling, the sound it makes, the torque at 2,000 rpm and the power at 8,500 rpm. And of course the looks. Every time I stop people want to talk about it.
      I’ve owned lots of bikes but for me this is the best one.
      I like the Honda too, but I prefer the Z900RS!

    PS - the next big thing will be - you order your paintjob and get it delivered with your bike. Both bikes have horrible paintjobs (in my opinion). It should be possible. Its 2019!!!!!!

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's something which surprised me, when I started riding: Motorcycle manufacturers usually only offers 2-3 paint schemes for each model, while there are much more for cars. Even computer and mobile phones have more colors available...

    The K is a modern bike trying to look old school, the H is a old school power bike with modern safety features. The stereo springs and air cooled engine on the H looks great. It also feels more mature and timeless, the K feels more like a toy.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good analysis, I totally agree with it. The main point is to find a bike that fits us. Some would look for a mature and timeless machine, but some others expressly look for a toy 😉

    I'll choose the z900rs because it's smaller, lighter, more power, 900cc is enough for a nakedbike, mono rear shock, upside down forks, better handling.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On paper, the Z900RS seems better indeed. But if you like this kind of bikes, I warmly recommend you to also test ride the CB1100RS. You could be surprised ;)

  • @michaellong622
    @michaellong622 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like them both, so I bought a 2018 Z900RS and a like-new, 2013 CB1100. I ride the Honda more. Not sure if that is a statement of any kind, but it just feels easier to ride! Not too smart Honda, does not look like it is going to release the CB1100RS here in the states. They are missing the boat I would say!

    A true retro has to keep the air cooled engine, that´s why the CB is so special and Honda give them great care!! The bike just go like the Wind just like we hear from the past 750cc... I like more the Honda Cb from that but for exemple Kawasaki has the W800 has there true piece of art.. Anyway the Kawasaki is very cool and 4sure very sporty nature like the Kawasaki Brand..

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right! Both are fantastic bikes. The Honda is more retro, the Kawasaki is sportier :)

    • @Sabumnim666
      @Sabumnim666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The retro is just that looks old school as they both do but new tech makes them a new bike. If you want an old bike my friend as cb1100 and believe me its in great condition. But god it is a pig by todays bikes.

  • @CapitanTavish
    @CapitanTavish 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Liquid cooling, inverted forks, higher cv and torq, lighter, exhaust 4 in 2 in 1, tuned sound... vs
    Air cooled , standard fork, heavier, 4 in 2 exhaust...
    It looks pretty obvious to me...
    Oh I forgot ... rear suspension .. double vs horizontal single .. yea

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's obvious to you, but people who buy the CB1100RS especially want air-cooled engine, dual exhaust, or dual rear suspension because they're looking for an old-school bike. If they were interested by horse power and modernity, they would rather consider the CB1000R...

    • @elzarbiman9657
      @elzarbiman9657 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      la Honda s'est mal vendue malgré les différentes déclinaisons proposées. Elle est beaucoup plus pataude et moins dynamique que la Kawa en revanche la qualité des matériaux est supérieure. J 'ai la kawa depuis 2 ans et je pense malgré tout qu'au niveau du plaisir de conduite elle l'emporte largement. C'était d'ailleurs l'avis du concessionnaire qui vendait les 2 modèles. On est sur 2 conceptions totalement différentes. Apres au niveau durabilité et vieillissement la Honda est quand même un cran au dessus. Elle vieillira surement mieux .
      Au final Honda moto placide et Kawa moto plus vivante. Juste un truc le confort de la kawa est royal en assise et suspension, la facilité de conduite est déconcertante .

    Thank you Mr Kiddo. I have just put a deposit on a new CB. It was between this and the z900. The kawasaki is very nice but as someone else has written here it seems a little bit confused as to what exactly it is. The CB not so much. I am 49 so tonking around no longer appeals. After 29 years of riding bikes on the UK's congested and often crappy roads sub 75 mph riding in comfort and style is what I am after. Pick it up next week. Really enjoyed your video and your style of delivery.

      Not sure what you mean about the z900 being confused about what it is. I think your confused and not the bike, its a classic looking bike with modern tech. A lot of people like the classic look but not the classic ride and that's what the z900rs is. I don't know why anyone would want a new bike that performs like an old bike, if that's what you want then just get an actual classic.

    • @petebusch9069
      @petebusch9069 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Bunnyshooter 223 Totally agree, who want's to ride a NEW bike that rides like an old bike? Its the "classic" performance that we can live without but want a classic look, or a bike that doesn't look like a transformer or something from Star Wars.

    My opinion: Both are fantastic, I prefer Honda cause on the kind of chassis too much power sometimes is a handicap. Talking about the engine Kawasaki sounds more square.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Excellent choice! Not sure the power of the Kawasaki is a handicap, as this is a smooth 4-cylinder engine. Both are nicely powerful and torquey anyway. The engine of the Kawasaki feels a bit sharper, but the air-cooled engine of the Honda offers very special feelings...

    I have been struggling to make a decision between the Triumph Speed Twin/Kawasaki Z900/BMW R9T/Honda CB1100 RS. I’ve owned a BMW K1200LT which was a great tourer, a Honda Goldwing and a Honda F6C. I have to say that both Hondas were fantastic, well engineered and trouble free bikes and kept their value..........so it’ll be the classically styled Honda CB1100 for me, it really is a thing of beauty.

    I've always been a Honda guy and the CB1100 got the retro thing more exact. But in riding both, the Z900RS is IMHO the better handling and performing bike of the two. I don't think Honda is selling the CB1100 in the USA for 2020, it just didn't capture any market here.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Z900RS is more performing indeed, but the CB1100 offers a kind of old school feeling even when you're riding it. So it depends what you're looking for! For 2020, the CB1100 isn't marketed anymore in Europe neither (but some dealers still have the 2019 model in their inventories), because a new model will likely be introduced at the end of the year ;)

    Z900RSは輸出モデルのZ900をベースにレトロチックなタンク等のパーツを付けたもの。中身は最新技術のストリートファイターである。つまりレトロ風味バイクだ。一方のCBは、わざわざ専用に空冷エンジンを開発している。レトロに対するスタンスの違いがそれぞれのメーカー間でハッキリ出ている。Kawasakiの方がマーケティングだけで売ろうとしている点が興味深いがこれを正しく理解しているライダーは少ない。だからZ900RSを指して「男の」とか「漢」などと評しているが、いやいやZの方が軽くて誰でも乗りやすく女子も選択しやすいモデルなのである。

    what I hate about the Z900 is that it has the chrome lines on the engine where the fins on an air cooled engine would be. To me that's a deal breaker. It just fakes the look of an air cooled engine. It just lies in your face.

      I have compared the Z900RS and the CB1100 in the video. I haven't tried the XSR 900. I know it has the same engine than the MT-09 (also called FZ-09 in some markets), which is a very exciting engine, I'm sure it's a very enjoyable bike to ride, but it doesn't look as beautiful as the Z900RS or the CB1100 in my personal opinion.

    The Parisians have excellent taste in motorcycles. Many interesting models that I rarely see at home.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CB1100 hasn't been designed in order to be light and powerful. If those are the only things that matter to you, take a Triumph Street Triple. It's cheaper, much lighter and much more powerful. Honda's aim was to design a motorbike with an air-cooled inline-4 engine meeting the current emission standards (it's Euro4 compliant, your CB900F isn't) and to make it as enjoyable as possible (it's much more torquey than your CB900F). Try it, you will be surprise...

    Such a hard choice. I think a winner is impossible, mechanically speaking. Honda and Kawasaki make the finest small gasoline engines on earth. Matter of taste I guess. The R NineT is a great bike too. These bikes should not be compared. One is a modern bike dressed up a little and painted to look like a classic bike. Repurposed water cooled engine, Single shock. Repurposed frame. The other is designed from the ground up as a modern classic. Tube frame, air cooled engine, dual shocks. About the only real concession to modern tech on the Honda is the fuel injection (got to meet emission standards). To me there is no point in the Kawasaki. It doesn't really look or feel like the Z-1 it is supposed to evoke. I would just buy a naked sport bike. The Honda is meant to compete with bikes like the Triumph retros, the Kawasaki W-800 and the Royal-Enfield 650s. It does that pretty well, except for being pricey.

    • @MrKiddoMoto
      @MrKiddoMoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with the beginning of your analysis... But I don't think there is no point in the Kawasaki. Some people likes the style of classic bikes, but want something really modern. The Kawasaki is made for them. The Honda is made for those who also want the feeling of a classic bike, not only the style ;)

    Excellent comparative review. I was sitting on a fence deciding between CB1100, Z900RS and XSR900 after I sold my big adventure bike. CB1100 is a bona fide retro bike, whereas Z900RS is entirely modern. I think Z900RS and XSR900 would be apples to apples. I was about to pull a trigger on Z900RS, but came across practically new CB at at 40% of Kawasaki price. Made my choice so much easier!
