    The donut feedback makes sense. But in the 2nd example with a supportive cushion, wouldn't that put pressure and cause irritation when "pushing them back up" with the fabric in your clothing? Not sure what the alternate would be besides lying down... For them most part standing up seems to be better for external hemmoroids and worse for internal vs sitting.

  • @rpersen

    Kind of in line with what the good doc says here - something that I've found that helps me (I should point out that I only have one slightly enlarged hemorrhoid but when it does flare up - usually waking me up in the middle of the night - it's about 6-7/10 pain for me. Close to nausea.) and that you never read about is: Sitting on a tennis ball. Right in bed. Putting as much weight on it as works well. Because at least for me, with a certain amount of pressure, it relieves the pain a bit (and seems to make the flareup subside faster) but too much and it increases the pain.

    While your theory makes sense, I find that sitting in my car or home office chair causes my external hemorrhoid to flare up and get irritated. I use an invalid ring which is the same as a donut ring and it gives me relief as it takes the pressure off the hemorrhoid. My office chair and car seat both seem to be raised in the area where my hemorrhoid or anus is. Could that be why the donut pillow helps my situation. I went a week without using the donut pillow and my hemorrhoid flared up like you wouldn't believe. Are you suggesting that if I used a soft cushion of some sort, that it would help the situation over using my current donut pillow. I am skeptical as previous experience has taught me otherwise, I would appreciate your input as experimentation in this situation can cause unwanted pain thank you.

    I wonder if this is why sitting on chairs is not good for us. I wonder if sitting on the floor against a coffee table with knees up to chest is better for humans to be on our computers. I also wonder why chairs are not made wider so while we sit on a chair we can cross our legs or fold our legs to our chest while on the computer. I would love to type while my knees are up to my chest and hate having my legs sprawled down hanging towards the floor, I love sitting cross legged pretzel-style while working.

    Thanks for sharing. In my flares I typically use the donut inflatable rubber to help while its swollen while I still need to do some work done especially when its bleeding I would use womens pantyliner maybe that would help catch it and not make it worse. And the recent discovery that I have in my last flare up is lying down on the floor with a mattress one for the upper half of the body then the donut to support the anus and the another flat faux leathered cushion to level the legs this method helped alot in getting a night rest and ease the swelling. I also noticed that for me while lying down on this position and playing the bubble blast game and watching your videos helped ease some tension as i feel some movement on the hemorrhoids and felt as if air is blowing to it or our of it at some point then I realized it was trying to come back in and it eventually did i felt it untwisting unwinding and go back in the swollen spinchter. And I try not to do keggels while its swollen although its my prime indicator that the swelling this less or more and I learn not to do the keggels when changing from sitting to standing with the use of a walking cane and just use your leg muscles to switch positions and same method when going up and down the stairs.

      @@multaksama9771 it was my husband that went thru this and we did not use the donut pillow. Just sitting to the side. The best thing I would recommend tho would be baking soda baths. Multiple times a day for around fifteen minutes or so. Baking soda is apparently an amazing thing that helps draw out the infection while also having anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. Seemed like that truly helped both healing time, preventing further complications and also pain. Hope this helps. Good luck! I felt horrible for him going thru this so I wish you the best for sure. It's not easy but you got this!!

    Hi. But isn't blood flow promotes healing?

    • @yourfriendlyproctologist
      @yourfriendlyproctologist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The anus gets plenty of blood flow continuously. Too much blood flow means things are swollen and that doesn't feel good.

    • @roderickjacob7248
      @roderickjacob7248 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m thinking that way because they say the sitz bath and kegel exercises promote blood flow which speeds up healing. Even massaging the scalp promotes blood flow for hair growth. I had very bad bleeding for over a week from chronic fissures because I increased wheat bran but it seemed to cut me. Lucky I came across your channel in time. I watched all of your videos and I made some changes. I adopted a low residual diet and I started kegel exercises and miraculously the bleeding and swelling stopped immediately. I’m fine for two weeks now. So is it the blood flow or strengthening of muscles that makes kegel exercises work? I get your point that the anus must not hang or protrude below the body and be pressured. Like sitting on the toilet too long is bad. So I guess promoting blood flow without the pressure is the answer. Please explain how kegel exercises help. Thank you.
