I had my first flair in 2002, I worked out and ate spicy Thai food and the next day boom, External Hemorrhoid and wow was it painful, I got it lanced, then I had another flair in 2005, and I got it lanced, but the Emergency room doc didn't get the whole clot so another doctor got all of it. I didn't have enough fiber and I was riding my bike. I just recently had another flair, I turned in my chair and instantly felt it, so I started with Preparation H, Sittz bath with Witch Hazel, this flair up wasn't painful so I didn't bother going to the doctor, but I have two, they are slowly but surely shrinking, but I was so tempted to have them lanced. Even after changing my diet and making sure I get fiber it still happened. But my VA Doc told me in 2002, that once you get one, they will always be around, at 26 I didn't even think of such a thing, but at 49 I get it. But it sucks, I can't stand having them, they take a lot of care for sure, just irritates me that they are around lol @Your Friendly Proctologist

Been dealing with external and internal for 6 months now, there was a point where it was so bad I couldn't sleep and stand. I'm now feeling so much better and it does not flare up anymore if you look after it.
Just a tips to those who were is my spot, is to take fibre supplement (metamucil), can either take their recommended daily dose or 1 dose (1 tablespoon) like me daily, it really makes everything go smooth. Also if you incorporate vegetables (high in fibre, vitamin C, antioxidant etc..) it actually helps prevent these flare up by strengthen the blood vessels that are prone to swell.

Hey I have loved watching your videos on hemorrhoid treatment and suggestions.
With that said I have listened very intently to your descriptions because I had developed a hemorrhoid years and I will tell you why.
Years ago I had injured my lower spin herniating a disk which compressed my sciatic nerves and the pain is relentless and never ending.
Because of that i take pain pills and sometimes muscle relaxers but not the muscle relaxers so much unless I start getting cramping.
In one of your videos you explained how blood could fill up the external hemorrhoids and because there is so much pain that the sphincter tightens up and does no allow the blood to escape.
I thought about that all day, which is today the 28th of Aug. and it all of a sudden dawned on me that you were giving suggestions on how to get the sphincter to loosen up such as creams and sitz baths that I have some very strong muscle relaxers on hand so guess what???
Yup I started taken my muscle relaxers and within 12 hours that giant painful hemorrhoid has decreased by a little more than half in size and the pain is almost gone.
I believe that muscle relaxer helped relax that sphincter allowing the blood to escape.
Maybe next time you could write a script to a patient with a huge painful external hemorrhoid along with preparation H or what ever cream you suggest and see what happens before operating.
I know this will work and the only downside that I can see is the money that doctors will loose out on from operating.
Just my two cents but they are a couple of shinny Pennie’s in my opinion.

I was recently in hospital for renal failure due to a stuck kidney stone and whilst in A&E they gave me a suppository pain killer as it was the fastest acting . Later the evening I noticed my bottom getting sore and by the morning going into surgery for a stent I was in more pain in butt than my kidney. I then woke up with an absolutely furious bleeding external haemorrhoid. The nurse checked and said the suppository hadn’t fully dissolved and now I am at war with my butt. There can’t be many people go in for renal failure and come out with a bubble on their butt. Listening to your vlogg it sounds like I am stuck with it, so my question is do I name it? May I ask : *can anoscopy/ proctoscopy if not in a gentle way can cause blood vessels around anus to burst/ ruptured which may lead to hematoma even a small lump* to appear . ?
    - *Is this kind probability of developing thrombosed or hematoma very high for a anoscope inspection* ? (Still can feel pain since last scope inspection 1 month ago)
    - Will the lump subside after some time ?

I noted the remark about placebo effect from some creams. That may be true. But, I had my first flare up of external hemorrhoids about 10 days ago (at 68 yo) and decided to manage them on my own. I shifted from sit commode to squat commode since this posture helps faster bowel movement (no constipation in my case, no bleeding). I started a bran cereal (which I used to have regularly until no supply recently (I live in Dhaka Bangladesh where supply chain has been hampered by the war in Ukraine and the fluctuating dollar exchange rate.) I applied hydrocortisone 1% ointment at night and Vaseline with Aloe Vera in the morning). I increased my water intake and started more fruits (oranges, apples). I applied ice pack to the anal area (10-15 minutes) since warm water sitz bath did not have positive effect. Within a few days the rhoids shrank and dried leaving skin tags. These dried up enough to fall off when cleaning with baby wipes and when showering. Having resolved this episode I can’t agree more with the doctor here. Like the saying goes: An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Thanks, Dr., for your informative and helpful videos.

I’m reading about these ablations and things (the ones causing my trouble are external) Is this something I should get done because I would get done? Because I’d get it done today if I could. Also, I can’t live well without a certain bedroom activity and I’m wondering if it’s OK to go ahead? I did in the third trimester, but tho they looked like this they didn’t hurt much. I’m wondering if that activity might actually help the blood to not be all clotted up in there?

More great advice video. Take care of what's going on back there because successive hemorrhoids will probably get bigger and worse. I didn't know this.
For me the sitz bath was the shit. 👍 Fresh as a daisy twice a day. 🤣🤣
Keep your stool soft. The biggest thing in my opinion is, let your bowel movements come naturally as in DON'T PUSH! Let it happen naturally. If it doesn't happen naturally within a two minutes while you're sitting there on the pot then get up and do something else and come back to it when that natural feeling to go happens again. This is what I do.
I can't speak for a pregnant female, I'm male. Prego female bowel movements could be a completely different ballgame.
    Just sayin.

I want to tell people, the most important thing I've learned, the most effective treatment is getting off the toilet in 2 minutes. I have had hems for years. They were so big I scheduled surgery to get rid of them. They were extremely painful, thrombosed, and bleeding frequently. I was home from work for a week because of the pain so I decided to just try standing up after 2 minutes. Although I didn't feel like I was done going at first, it turned out fine. Nothing prolapsed. I have had no pain or bleeding since I started doing this. I think part of the reason I feel like I'm not done is because the hemorrhoids are being detected by my body as a foreign object that it is trying to push out. Please try doing this before you schedule surgery. I feel so stupid for not doing this sooner. My doctor told me to do this and I didn't want to try for some reason. Fiber doesn't matter that much. Squatty potty doesn't matter that much. Trust me, because if you get the surgery and you keep spending too long on the toilet, it's just going to happen again. So you may as well start now and see how it goes.

Two things that have helped me are collinsonia (stone root) and eating two whole stir fried onions every night before bed. The onions contain tryptophan, which can make you tired at first. After a while you get used to it.
I had unbearable pain. If i go more than about two or three days without my onions, i start to have pain. Every day i eat my onions, zero issues. I did stop taking collinsonia just because it's about 20 bucks a month and it doesn't work as good as fresh onion. If you used both it might clear it up. I'm not sure. Haven't had the issue very long.
That and lots of kale in the blender. lots and lots of kale.

MY experience: 1. banded removal is basically painless and effective . 2. Use your stomach muscles (pull in your stomach) and change angles til you sense bowel movement, rather than "push". This takes weeks of listening to your body ( and strengthening your stomach muscles) while not pushing, to develop. You will have to push, but only mildly, and less so the more you develop the technique. Self taught and self created, so take it for what it's worth.

I’ve had them since I was pregnant in 1995! Unless you have surgery, they never completely go away. It helps to stay hydrated, use witch hazel and have a sitz bath routine. The reason I never had them surgically removed is because my husband had his removed and he had a very painful recovery. That surgery left unwanted side effects, like having to stay near a bathroom.

I really wish I knew this info sooner or that you gave OTC options that can help or something.
I'm a gay male with IBS and I've always been really insecure about my booty area as I do get painful hemorrhoids on occasion and I don't think my area is visually appealing as a result.
It kinda ruins my sexual encounters cause I don't want others to think it's gross.
I always assumed hemorrhoids were just an uncomfortable thing that flared up but then when it stopped hurting went away. Now I'm worried my booty hole is going to be forever unappealing and I'll never be comfortable with others exploring that area of my body again lol fk

Not sure if someone has this similar experience but ima share anyways just in case. 26 yr old male on the overweight side but still active (i hoop a lot). Had a bump not in or around but down the line of my anus from sitting on the toilet and straining too much. It eventually exploded and I was spot bleeding for weeks. Used prep H wipes, ointment , and eventually bleeding stopped. Switched up my diet too to more fiber and that helped the process go along smooth too. Longest 3-4 weeks of my life but I’m saying this for someone who needs to hear it…. EAT HEALTHIER AND STOP SITTING AND STRAINING ON THE TOILET FOR SO LONG TRUST ME 😂😂 hope this helps!

Sitting here in Panama and have nothing else to do than watching this hemorrhoid video. 😂 I do have a “nice behaving “ external hemorrhoid, that I got as a “present” from my gallbladder surgery. I woke up and actually thought that the doctor forgot something in my bed like a tool or something. (That’s when you are still kinda Knocked -out from the drugs.) But that was my first thought. I’m laying on something what was hurting by backside.😅 So I called for the nurse who checked first the mattress and bed. Nothing. Then she asked me to roll over to the side. “Ohhh wow. You got a hemorrhoid as big as a big marble. I bring you something.” So I got one of this ring billows and a ice bag. 2 years later, I was at my family doctor. Prostate check. “Mhmmm. What is that? You have there a kinda skin tag…” Ohhh yes. It’s a souvenir from the hospital 2 years ago….. It only gets “big” when I catch a real cold with high fever. That’s when I am getting a reminder: Hey, boss. I’m still here! 😂

Doctor. I've had an external one for over 1 year now, & finally went to see my doctor 3 weeks ago. my doctor gave me creams that did nothing. My doctor referred me to a surgeon to remove it (where i live health care & these surgeries are free if you have a job). My surgeon prescribed me Daflon 500mg tablets two weeks ago & said that if it didnt work then we would go ahead with the surgery. My hemorrhoid has been shrinking every day (i take 2 pills twice a day). I'm so shocked. It has shrunk by 60% in 2 weeks. Something i never thought would happen. I'm hoping that it will completely shrink in the next two weeks. it really works!

Yes, you're right, it's like skin that has stretched on a fat person, same thing, not hard to figure that one out. I've had them for over 35 years, only cute is to cut them out surgically no bands or treatment or cream is going to bring the skin back to its normal state. Never, ever. I got a doctor that want to put bands on mine. What's the point, when they just come back but worse. Best way is what this doctor says. Cut them out for good. You think they'll go away but if the skin is stretched they never ever will. I wished they did, but they won't. I get so stressed and annoyed, I go ballistic when they're bad. So somehow I've got to find a decent doctor to get them cut out. So irritating and a pain in ye butt. Thanks for bringing real wisdom to the people. Other doctors on here say they'll cute them and have these fake comments. Seriously, they're not going to go away by what you eat and treat them with. If they're huge and external they're worth getting rid of forever.
