Nice Mahi. How deep did you get it? I was out of Big Pine Key Sunday to about 190 ft back and forth outside Looe Key. I got out late and it got rougher after about 1:00, so I worked my way in. Saw what I think were Mackerel airing out on some bait way inside the Looe Key area, but no hits all day. It was still nice to be out on the boat. I was running a Nomad DTX 200 Minnow purple/pink stripe deep, a black/red smaller Bubble Jet type lure near the surface, and casted a 1/2 oz silver/blue spoon inside on structure near surfacing fish. It was the first day trying out my CMOR chart on my Simrad Go9 XSE. Kinda nice to see the bottom detail and contour. It will save a lot of time searching spots. The sounder showed proper depth changes at structure shown on chart.

@capnstevoanythinggoes : I was at 220' directly south of the American Shoals Lighthouse. There was a well defined current line I was trolling.

I kept an eye out for a current line or flotsam, but just lightly scattered weed. I did see some Man-O-War.@@lowerkeysliving

Nothing like filming and sharing a good, old fashioned Cluster ****!
If ya haven’t been there, ya don’t know what you have been missing’!

@kevinlynch6799 - Thanks for watching. I've done this to myself too many times.

What pound line are you using? Braid or mono?

I have 40 mono on all three of the rods I used today. I use braid when I'm deep dropping so I can get more line on the electric reels. I use yellow mono on the rods I run on the center and clear on the outside outrigger rods. This lets me see/track the lines when I'm make turns. The Billly Bait lures come with 100 lb mono that I connect to with a snap swivel. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

@@lowerkeyslivinggreat. I just purchased my first boat so looking for pointers on fishing gear for grouper snapper and mahi, appreciate your responses. Always watching your vids brother, keep them coming

@@brianpino7274 Congrats on the boat!! Nothing beats being out on the water. I'm working on a video that lists out the gear I have and what type of fishing I use it for. I'm also going to review of few of the reels I have. I had one tackle shop convince me to purchase a high end reel for a lot of $$ but its been a maintenance nightmare, while my mid-level Penn Reels have been rock solid. Thanks for watching.
