One avenue I didn't read in the comments was toxicology. Please be vigilant the the bunny is not ingesting or being exposed to anything [from food (bought or growing around, to household chemicals, paint, dyes, or medicines not prescribed, or non-bunny friendly food, to livestock near)] that may affect the nervous system. This could trigger seizure activity or give it cause to arise or worsen. If bunny is chewing on things for dental wear make sure its not something bunny found or that someone may have given inadvertently. From comments reviewed it appears you are doing well. Just some things to consider. Make sure bunny maintains a patent airway if possible during seizures and especially afterward . The airway can become obstructed that way (positional), or if bunny was eating. Of course keep seizure area clear and don't let bunny fall abruptly to the floor. If the bunny has or develops status epilepticus (extended seizures) be prepared for resuscitation. That can be life threatening since breathing during seizures can be less than sufficient for animals and humans. Be gentle, your lung capacity is much greater and can injure... tiny little puffs (over nose and mouth), relax and keep calm. Yes, you can do one finger CPR gently if there is no heart beat. Keep in mind a resuscitated animal may not understand that you are trying to help and may want to defend itself, or get sick (be prepared). That is at your own discretion and comfort level for such supportive care. Do your homework as is possible, that way when an emergency occurs you're not in oh sh** mode. My best.

There ARE medicines for animals just as there are medicines for humans. Why didn't you talk to your vet. I have a friend who has a cat with seizures and has to inject her cat twice a day. This is one of the reasons why I never can understand people giving animals foods that are bad for US, yet they seem to think that animals can eat anything. Animals can get cancer, diabetes, etc....just like humans and should eat an animal only diet, NOT human food like ice cream, whipped cream, cookies, etc....Treats should be rare.
get in , i did talk to my vet, and yes i know that there are medicines, but since our bunny was only a 5 months old when the seizures started, our vet said that the chance the medicines would work for Loekie were really small. We decided to nit give him the medicines cus the medicines could have a really bad effect on him especially because he was so young. Oh yeah btw he was diagnosed with epilepsy and in our country there were/are not many rabbits known having epilepsy so they weren’t sure if the medicines would have any effect on such a young rabbit, cus not many young rabbits were diagnosed with epilepsy. He didn’t get sick because he had bad food, he had epilepsy his whole life long...he had a seizure every 3 weeks/ 1 month after he had his first one at 5 m old. I totally agree with you that pets shouldn’t have any food that is bad for us. And i know a lot of people give there rabbits bad food, but we never ever gave/give our bunnies bad food, we always double check if its safe for them. Just so you know im not attacking you and i really appreciate your comment💕
This was in my recommended and made me cry.. :( I had a Netherland dwarf who passed away a few years ago from seizures. No vets in my area are specialized in treating bunnies, and all of them that I called about it told me my best option was to put him down. He ended up passing away in my arms while in the car on the way to an emergency vet when the seizures got worse. I couldn't find much online to get him help. I hope your bun has recovered and you both are doing lovely!!
Oh my goodness my heart breaks for you! ❤️❤️ so sorry that happened. I’ve had a few too many scares with Astro between GI stasis and seizures and it’s just so much heartache. That’s why I decided to share our story since seizures are pretty rare.

my lop also had seizures due to being dropped on her head as a baby before she was rescued from an abusive owner. the shelter vet didn't think that she would live very long due to her neurological condition, but with love, medication, and regular visits to a good small animal specialist vet, she lived to be nearly 7 before having a stroke after a major event. these things look really scary, but they can be managed with a good care routine, and your bun can live a long happy life.

Thanks for sharing! Our lionhead had seizures when we changed his primary food type - his sugar was too low. He was very happy when we went back to life with a little more sweets! And stopped seizing. His were scarier than this one-- his whole body would turn around as if he were in an invisible clothes dryer.

The sad thing is- Thats what happened to all 19 of my rabbits- But their seizures were nothing like that... They litterally rolled like they were shot and made noises They died cuz of a disease that cant rlly be stopped Poor thing! Give her/his alot of room and comfort her/his every once in a while so she/he knows that you will be by her/his side! If he doesnt eat for a long time you will have to force feed it so it doesnt starve I love all animals and its hard to watch them in pain (edited) I just saw your channel and by the look of it, you seem like a good person to rabbits so im sure you know how to help her!
Totally forgot i posted this video. He had another seizure today so i was looking up seizure videos and found his! He still has the seizures from time to time which is really sad but we have been able to reduce them with medicine.
@@SpecialneedsSpacebun My chihuahua has siezures occassionally so I started giving him 3 drops of MCT oil (coconut oil) in his food. He has not had a seizure in over six months. I'm not sure if it's the coconut oil that's helping him, that is the only thing I've changed in his diet. I know that coconut oil also helps people with alzheimers, it helps the brain.
My bunny is special needs kinda, he’s momma hopped into the nesting box and landed on his foot, so he has a wonky foot and can’t jump very high to but we love him for who he is 😊 ❤️

Almost identicle to my Bunny Tina...When she was first left at my home for me to look after 4 a week;She used to lay alongside the skirting board and simply tremble all day long...The Vet said "Maybe she's just a trembley Bunny'"!!?? Of course as soon as she was loved unconditionally and re-assured she became a 'bold as brass Beautiful Bunny"!! The shakes must of simply been her nerves .. Snatched away from Mother and siblings, put up for sale !! Figure it out ??Being a prey animal as well...She's so comfortable these days..

As someone that has had seizures in the past, it’s not fun, not sure if it’s any different with animals, but for me, a trigger is bright lights, and I’m not sure if animals that have will have to take medication or not, I stopped have them a long time ago, but I was diagnosed with epilepsy, which is my brain is having seizures every like 20 seconds or something, hope your bun gets over this and feel better
@@nfislife4017 You would be surprised how few vets actually know about rabbits in most areas in at least (what I can speak for) the United States. I know from experience. It took 12 vets before they diagnosed my bunny correctly. 3 of them admitted that there's unfortunately not much science behind rabbit research. :/

Today, my rabbit started to do the thing that yours was doing. He then started running into things and then seemed to lose control of his legs. Would this be considered a seizure?
leela reilly it sounds like it could have been one. It would be best to call your vet and tell them what happened. Try to keep an eye on your bun to see if it had another one / I know it’s tricky to get on camera but trying to video tape it is the best way your vet can evaluate what’s going on. Also count how long the seizure is for and keep a log in your notes of date / time it happened and symptoms afterwords. Sorry your bun isn’t doing well! Let me know how it goes

My bunny would have seizures a few hours after eating either parsley or Cilantro. I can't remember which and i lost notepad for her health during my last move so she doesn't get either to avoid it all together. She would look control of her hindlegs and seize on her side will looking like she was trying to fight it
Yeah, now that we work from home we are able to give him 3 doses of anti seizure meds 8 hrs apart. Noticing a huge difference! He went from June to October with out a seizure, the longest yet :) Our vet thinks it is epilepsy.

My rabbit also has those things. He just falls on the floor and starts shaking a lot. He doesn’t understand what is happening and after, he needs at least two minutes to get full control of his body.
@@SpecialneedsSpacebun He didn't stand on his hind legs like your bunny did, but it reminds me of my own rabbit. In the very last days he was completely paralyzed so we had to put him down.
Oh no! Really sorry to hear that. You'll have to go through some testing to determine the cause. Could be a number of things 1. ear infection 2. e.coniculi 3. brain tumor 4. epilepsy and probably a few others that I am unaware of. We have him on Levetiracetam 8ml dose 3 times a day. It has reduced his seizures to once every 2-3 months instead of having one every week. Hang in there! Your bun can still live a happy life.
I should also mention that we have his medicine compounded and pick it up from a regular (human) pharmacy. It is supposed to taste like strawberry but helps to dip it in apple sauce so your bun will take it at first. It is $60 a bottle and lasts 1 month. Your vet will be able to determine proper dosing and play around with other meds.
Hope you bun is ok and recovers nothing is more painful to me than seeing an animal suffer :(

Even if he had medicines he would still have a lot of pain and the chance of surviving would still be really smal cus of his young age

Have you checked to see if its e. cuniculi ? Seizures are one of the symptoms and it tends to be untreated as such

That does sound possibly like a seizure. One of our elderly rabbits started having them the last couple of months before she died. Meds helped.

My rabbit also has those things. He just falls on the floor and starts shaking a lot. He doesn’t understand what is happening and after, he needs at least two minutes to get full control of his body.

@@SpecialneedsSpacebun He didn't stand on his hind legs like your bunny did, but it reminds me of my own rabbit. In the very last days he was completely paralyzed so we had to put him down.

Our Holland Lop just started this. He is only a year and a half. What medicine is yours taking?
Oh no! Really sorry to hear that. You'll have to go through some testing to determine the cause. Could be a number of things 1. ear infection 2. e.coniculi 3. brain tumor 4. epilepsy and probably a few others that I am unaware of. We have him on Levetiracetam 8ml dose 3 times a day. It has reduced his seizures to once every 2-3 months instead of having one every week. Hang in there! Your bun can still live a happy life.
I should also mention that we have his medicine compounded and pick it up from a regular (human) pharmacy. It is supposed to taste like strawberry but helps to dip it in apple sauce so your bun will take it at first. It is $60 a bottle and lasts 1 month. Your vet will be able to determine proper dosing and play around with other meds.
