Black levels, motion clairty and lack of input lag is why I love them
One thing to consider is that the cost of properly shipping a CRT drives the already-scalped eBay prices up, hence why local pickup via Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, etc is preferred.
you guys gotta start smoking that facebook marketplace pack, guy was listing a 28” crt as broken for parts and gave it away for free, took it home and plugged it in, worked perfectly fine
Good thing I have like 4 CRT’s and usually can find them given away for free in my area
I got a CRT about a year ago just by waiting for someone who had one they didn’t want anymore
Also Goodwills, salvation army, and other places that accept donations have stopped accepting CRT tvs. I take them off people's hands regularly. They charge us to get rid of them at landfills as well. So, that's likely why you don't see them at donation stores as much anymore.
I've purchased a few crt televisions from the goodwills in my town. They are sold regularly here till this day

$480 for 480p
I was not a big gamer as a kid in the 90s but our family got the consoles for Xmas a couple years after they came out. Still have them and the boxes to SNES/N64/PSONE/PS2. They were mostly in a closet cuz I hated the ugly pixelated look on LCDs. Well I saw a post on reddit of a PVM in 2019. That's when I got one for $125 and started to plug in my old systems and try out 99% of games that I missed out back them. I love retro games more than the convoluted, overly complex and addiction based modern games. Don't need every button to open a menu, submenu, weapon menu/upgrade weapon menu, map menu, pause menu, stats menu, etc like the Switch Zelda games.

You only get 480i if you have S-Video or Component with your CRT TV. Composite video has an effective maximum resolution of 360 lines of resolution because the chromium signal interferes with the luminous signal. Lines of resolution comes from the fact that analog video is a very different beast than digital video. The horizontal lines don't even have pixels. It's just a stream of constantly changing brightness. Well, it worked, so I wouldn't worry about it.
480i is just 240p with fast blinking maybe youre confusing it with 480p
i work at a waste disposal company. we have E recycling and i see working crt;s in dumpsters literally every week
Somehow I think that Xbox 360 and PS3 are the "best generation" of the consoles. I have both of them (and PS2 and Xbox Series X + PS5), but on PS3 and Xbox 360 when you buy the game on disc, it is made to work. No need to download anything unless you want to update those games for whatever reason. Nowadays on newer consoles (Xbox One, PS4 and newer) you still need to download stuff sometimes to even make the game work in the first place (AC: Valhalla crashed after the starting video until I updated it) and it is annoying. I just want to play game without loading crap on internet and wait, update, wait and wait more.
Dang. I should put my Xbox 360 back in use soon.

its not worth it to BUY a crt, i found a rare jcp penny display only crt tv in the garbage, it was just rlly dirty so i cleaned it up and i still use it to game to this day, its really easy to FIND crts

Loved this video! Most CRT's have only 480i resolution, which is even worse than 480p! Definitely subbing, keep up the great work.
That still means it looks as intended on those retro consoles that only ever supported 480i without any capability for progressive scan output unless you get into the rabbit hole that are upscalers as to not deal with input delays.
