      It's pretty ridiculous, I have a whole gaming pc with three flat screen monitors. I would never play retro games on it emulated or not. CRT's are for people who actually care about how their retro games look cause there really isn't a better way to experience them.

      Actually older systems honestly look like crap on new TVs and look too HD and perfect for systems that were never intended on be played in HD. CRTs are the only way to play older consoles that were designed for CRT TVs. That is the reason why I own a 1999 Toshiba CRT TV and a 1983 Emerson CRT TV to play old consoles.

    I also own a CRT and I can safely say it’s the best £5 / $6 I’ve ever spent in my life. Never had my Original XBOX looked so good. I’m still not used to the high pitched noise every time I turn it on though haha. I don’t think that the noise disappears, because it’s the equivalent of white noise, so you just don’t notice it once your brain has become used to it. Great video btw!

    Lucked out when I was driving in my neighborhood a guy brought out a practically brand new CRT 20" Toshiba TV with DVD built in with remote in perfect condition for free! It was manufactured in April 2005 and in perfect condition, literally was probably in a corner of his house sitting there for over 15 years.

    I recently found an old crt in my parents basement and dusted it off, and I really love playing with it. I had to buy an hdmi to av converter, and I don’t have any old consoles, but I do own some old games that I could emulate, and I love it. This crt also has a high pitched noise, a headphone jack (that only lets me hear out of my left ear for some reason) and it also has a vhs player. Overall I’m glad I got it working and can play games in it, I think the oldest games (Atari and nes) look the best on this thing.

    • @Mikeinoid
      @Mikeinoid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's pretty cool! Hope you got some games to emulate and play on the TV! NES looked really good on the TV for sure!

    • @Determi9r
      @Determi9r 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s been a few months so I thought I’d give an update, but I actually bought an original nes just so I can play games on the tv. I bought the grey light gun so I can play duck hunt, and I bought an advantage controller for arcade games. I love how the nes looks on the tv and it’s very fun playing games on it, and my favorite is easily castlevainia 3: draculas curse. I have around 12 or so games atm including Super Mario/Duck Hunt, Mario 3, TMNT, castlevainia 2 and 3, Pac-Man and dr Mario. And the system itself works… like crap. It’s the OG front loader system, and it crashes on time to time, and inserting and exerting cartridges can be annoying sometimes, especially since it never reads it on its first try. Other than that I hope to get it fixed up and refurbished sometime in the future, playing games in their original form is so much fun on a crt

    • @Mikeinoid

    I don’t have a room to play my retro games on a crt peacefully in privacy, so I had to play it in the living room, and my family members didn’t like the noise and I had to throw it out years later because I just didn’t have the space for it anymore, which sucks. I think the crt tv I had was like a 20 something inch Sanyo CRT tv. I forgot the model though. I remember when I played it, Sonic 3 and Knuckles looked so good on it compared to my HD tv. I used that crappy rf adaptor though so it was bad nonetheless. If I move out someday and get my own room, then I will consider getting a crt again (if I can find a good one at a good price or free hopefully) my retro consoles looks so bad on my HD lcd tv, so I’ve been resorting to emulation, but I play on my SNES from time to time.

I don’t have a remote however I an able to change the input to aux using the channel buttons. I plug everything in and I don’t seem to be getting and visual or audio of the game. Do you know if there is anything I can do to prevent this or how I should be connecting a console? Thank you! :-)

      You should check if there's an issue with the Wii or the cables by plugging it in to another TV. If those are working then maybe the output channel on the Sylvania is different. You should be able to look up the correct channel on Google.

      Damn that sucks. Is there any way you can change the input? To display the game on my TV you need to change the input to "AUX"

      @@Mikeinoid No, we tried. We even bought a universal remote and while we can get the TV to mute using it, but it won’t respond to anything else.

      @lubbockbabesfan81 It turns out that we were actually missing a component for the N64. The memory thing that goes in the top slot.

    Hey bro! Love your vid. I just picked up a similar tv like yours but it was a Magnovox brand. It didn’t look good. The picture quality was pretty dark and I had no way of setting up the brightness. Would you say your crt has great picture quality?
