i was born in new zealand and lived there for the first 4 years of my life, me and my family left though due to australia being more easily livable because everything costed less and housing prices werent as bad at the time, i havent been in new zealand in aaages and i really want to go back and see it

No we aren't aware of any tamed Kererū. Ones that get injured by cars or by accidently hitting house windows & fortunate enuff to get taken to bird hospitals are the usually the closest they get to human contact. Rare occasions with close contact occur tho. No to finding a chick either.
Over a decade in this treetop house enabled our mortal to give water & talk re assuringly to them & their crew.

What other native birds do you get there in the garden my friend?
🙏 A variety really.
Endemic Tūì, Kererū, Bellbirds, Fantails, Shining Cuckoo & Ruru occasionally, Kingfishers, Grey Warblers, Silvereyes & introduced Sparrows, Thrushs, Blackbirds off the top of my head bro.
Living so close to the ocean here Marine birds are flying past constantly.
Grey Herons, Canadian Geese flocks, Gannets ( only 3-4 here in the crater), Spoonbills (11), Gulls, Oystercatchers.
We are spoiled i know hence we like to share these sights. Chur for now e hoa.
