I really wish they brought up that Goku asks to play 20 questions, and then there proceed to be 21 questions ending on the one that caused Krillin to die. Which is HYSTERICAL.
@@lollikabosso.w.n7153 I thought TFS had a bit more of a hand in the Canadian subs. And even if it was an accident, it’s still hilarious it lines up so well that Krillin died for breaking the rules of 20 questions. (Also the obvious reason for testing Freeza’s ego.) XD
18:45 I like the way this plays out in the Anime way better. My headcannon is that Freeza _started_ with trying to kill Goku at first, and then when Piccolo "took the bullet" instead, Freeza immediately thought _"Oh wait, this is _*_much_*_ better!"_ and decided to kill Goku _last._
18:55 - I actually thought the chance to have Piccolo jump in front of Goku was an improvement in the anime for two main reasons: 1. It makes sense for Frieza to try to take out Goku first since Goku is the one who nearly managed to kill him. 2. I like how Piccolo jumping in front of Goku shows how far their relationship has come.
1. Kinda feel it'd be more in character for Freeza to make Goku watch as he kills everyone in front of him as revenge. 2. While I think their relationship has improved, and Piccolo has shown he'd sacrifice himself for Gohan so he likely would for Goku, the deathbeam shouldn't be something Piccolo could react fast enough to shove Goku out of the way of. imo. Goku being able to block all of Freezas shots directly at him I can justify as him being able to focus to protect himself. But him not being able to do the same for Vegeta I feel is what really shows how fast the attack is, it'd be hard to block it heading towards someone else. Besides, it's a bit of a retread of Piccolo's previous sacrifice.

@@Gang3rs I love how even they found that timing funny! Put a smile right back on everyone's faces.
Still don't know what to do about the American Nazis but hey, one step at a time.
@@welshbandit7208 Or a reality check more painful than realizing you're old lol
Also I think my favorite Piccolo pain grunt from Lani, is when he was fighting Imperfect Cell and about to use the "Nail Gun"
That shit sounded impactful
You guys must've gone through the 5 stages of grief when you realized you missed that "Why didn't you dodge?"
Speaking of tik tok, your guys work is really taking off with lots of artist. It warmed my heart hearing my favorite artists use audio bits from dbza in their little animations, it’s just nuts how far media can reach other fan bases and cultures from around the world and I just think it’s really neat
All fun and games except when people don't credit them.
Im surprised they didn't bring up the fact that the OM NOM NOM was apparently Neil Patrick Harris
My favorite line from this episode is “There you are again throwing your hands up in the air like you just don’t care, CARE DAMN IT!!!! It’s also among my top 5 lines cross all of DBZA
15:07
Kaiser, you can't just ask an energy ball why it's black, damn.
XD
"Taka's a wonderful himbo" I freaking SCREAMED 😂
why..... weirdo... himbo is a terrible word.
5:41 Chiaotzu's line here is the most in-character moment of the entire Abridged series.
I just love Tien's face when he realizes that Chiaotzu was right.
I didn't even think about that but you're right. Chiaotzu's very first words to the og gang was just insult-city.
The day the original came out I remember seeing Popo at around 20:45 with the rising score and I muttered "called it" a second or two before he said it and I just burst out laughing, which startled my family. I kept giggling about it all the way through dinner too.
What I find hilarious and beautiful is that at 11:30 when he says "well now you're just acting transcendent" He's obviously just using the word because it'll make him sound smarter what's funny and what probably angers Freeza is he used it correctly by chance lol
The lipsync on Recoome's "Oh Yeah" is still god tier
I know I come here every episode saying I love this creator commentary, but after having to put my dog down today, I REALLY needed some cheering up. Thanks guys. See you next time on this thing that you’re doing.
My most heartfelt condolences for your loss, dude.
I'm actually impressed goku was able to count 5 whole minutes honestly
During season 1, you both mentioned that you would have started around Episode 14 when re-watching. The 5-minute charging joke is one of the reasons I will always start at Episode 1. The callbacks are so worth it. (Arlia notwithstanding)
That moment of "Are you about to die?" And the response between him and Goku with the "No lying..." would have been so satisfying for Freeza. It's the first of his barbs, his eloquent threats, actually lands.
8:00 Kaiser's face OH GOD
Krillin's smirk before he dies gets me every time 🤣
One of the more underrated lines is
“Shut. Up!!”
“TOO SCARED!!”
_“DAMMIT”_
Love how even in death the Ginyu force is trying to conquer planets for Frieza
It's all they knew in life, so it makes sense. Still, same. 😆
Finally we're to the point I caught up! Being a kid still in sixth grade back then and discovering the Namek saga JUST completed in DBZA was such an incredible marathon
8:21-8:33 love that scene and if we got to Battle of Gods abridged, would’ve loved Beerus’ reaction to that. Or elder/supreme Kai, now that I think about it.
I really wish they brought up that Goku asks to play 20 questions, and then there proceed to be 21 questions ending on the one that caused Krillin to die. Which is HYSTERICAL.
I Dont think it was intentional, since only ones keeping track were the canadian subs, made by fans, as far as i know.
9:50 I always say “yes” just like this. Thanks MasakoX!
"Ohmygod" Is probably my favourite line delivery in this series.
3:20 gives a bit of context to "dont mistake youthful selfishness for genuine malice. nobody isnt kind of an asshole in their early 20's."
Fun fact: There’s exactly 20 Questions from the start of the game until Krillin’s death.
7:54 🤣 You guys really have been doing this a while if you can just instantly fall into a comedic moment like that.
The new internet has definitely wrecked my attention span, because waiting 4 days for these feels like waiting a month for the original episodes
18:55 - I actually thought the chance to have Piccolo jump in front of Goku was an improvement in the anime for two main reasons:
Thank you guys for making one of the funniest internet series in history, I will continue to watch until I'm dead
Really appreciate the deep dive into the decision making process and choices you had to make when writing this.
My favorite part of this episode is the 20 questions joke. Especially since we saw what happens when Krillin broke the rules...
Nick... nail on the head at 8:00. I've followed yall work since the early days and have loved to watch your evolution and growth as creators. I'll admit I slacked and didn't know about this series of commentary, but I am absolutely loving it. I also fell into the trap of angry, hurtful attacks under the guise of humor, but have learned to be much more kind and caring. Keep up the good work guys, and I really need to dig into your other stuff! Also Hellsing Abridged was amazing and I still quote it and this series to this day.
You have no idea how much I look forward to these
I don’t think it needed the “Why Didn’t You Dodge” joke there. It definitely fits better in the Kai episode.
20:30 Fun fact: I could never tell whether he was just screaming or quacking.
Lani, Kaiser, I just need you laddies to know how amazing your works have been. DBZ:A and HS:A are without a doubt my favorite dubs of those anime. Parodies or not, you guys are fucking masters of comedic timing and voice acting. I spent literal years working on my voice work thanks to DBZ:A, practicing Frieza, King Kai, Vegeta and Nappa, and did the same with HS:A for Alucard, Anderson, Maxwell and the Major. You guys are truly inspiring, and I'm so incredibly happy for, and proud of, you and your team. Thank you for giving sarcastic and nihilistic nerds like myself a true cult classic that we can dive back into, even this many years later, and still enjoy. Definitely something to be said that the first Deadpool movie, and your Abridged works, are like the only media I know almost word for word.
Keep on keepin on my dudes!
That lightning bit with Freeza was actually the first thing I saw from you guys on a video compilation durning my dark UT rabbit hole days…
And then when I got out, I just fell in the DB hole; haven’t left since (7 years)
When I started up this video my first thought was what a nice flannel shirt Lani is wearing. It looks comfy and kind of classy.
19:18 Babe wake up. A new meme reaction just dropped.
These commentaries feel so cozy, makes me wanna just blanket up in an armchair and watch with a good mug of cocoa.
I really liked how Yamcha went to being one of the Sane Characters in the show. I tend to relate to them the most, so he quickly became one of my favorites from season 3 onward
Just gotta say seeing Kaiser’s transformation from depressed (or at least extremely uncomfortable lol) at the beginning of these to excited has warmed my heart. I’ve absolutely loved “this thing you guys have been doing,” can’t wait for the rest 👍🏻.
Freeza’s “Oh my god” is probably one of my favorite lines in the whole series.
I think what makes Goku’s stupidity such a great counter to Freeza is that you established how blasé he is with revolutionaries.
He’s heard thousands of speeches and prophecies and he just doesn’t care, but he’s never heard malapropisms like he hears from Goku
King Kai’s “mmmsounds about right” is one of my favorite deliveries of the entire series
7:55 this delivery and the point that you continue the video with King Kai's line like that. 100/10 pure comedy gold. 🤣🤣
“Then may God strike me down where I stand”
“AND THEN ALONG CAME ZEUS!”⚡️
This whole time I never noticed the "Oh god my glubark! (sp?)" when Piccolo is holding off Freezer for the Spirit Bomb.
Every now and then I find something new when rewatching this series. That's part of why I love it so much, and in turn is part of why I'm really enjoying this thing...
...that you're doing
How is it NOT mentioned that NEIL PATRICK HARRIS PLAYS THE SPIRIT BOMB GOING “OM-NOM-NOM”?!
You found out too!
That sincere "Taka is a wonderful himbo" was so heartwarming
Looking forward to so many episode watching. Watched tfs dbz:A and Helsing so many times!
Every time I use burter and jase on dokkan battle I hear "seizure procedure" in my head. Or Agl Freeza 18 ki super.... saying "bigger, bigger". Love it!!
