While the Buu saga would still be cool, with everything they've said about it, I'd almost rather they just leave it be. If they were going to do any kind of reunion, I'd somewhat prefer they do a special for the Pilaf saga or something. On the other, she knows he's a villain. Add in her desire to 'meet a real man', and those feelings combined in her subconscious to form a nightmare.

12:52 - In the OG dragonball series, Yajrobe 1: Drills thru a dragonball to make a necklace, 2: Climbs Korin tower with goku on his back, 3: One-shots one of King Picolo's minions after dodging lightning
Seriously, Yajirobe wasn't even a trained fighter and he was one of the strongest beings on the planet when Goku met him. Just a dude who wanted to kill shit with his sword and eat it. Then he met his wonderful cat husband and the rest is history.
You know, remembering this facts about Yajirobe gives more sense how he could cut Vegeta's tail. Really wish he could have been written as another member of the team instead of a hobo that lives with Korin.

I'll never forget, in my high school anime club where I was watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for the first time, how loudly I asked my friend, "IS THAT WHERE THAT JOKE'S FROM??" during the climax of Jotaro's battle against DIO.
Krillen having a crush on Uppa had me on the floor when I first watched this episode. I love the OG DragonBall references. Like when Cell tells Trunks off for being inexperienced by bringing up Goku sending a rabbit to the moon.
Also how the story went from simple martial arts to aliens and ki blasting planets, but was inversely less fantastic than androids, a stick that stretches to the moon, and animal-people
@edgardomartin8299 I've recently been reading the DB manga, and the slow but steady change from the Pilaf Saga, which feels absolutely nothing like DBZ, to the Piccolo/23rd Tenkaichi stuff, which is practically a prototype for both the villains and fights of DBZ, is crazy. But yeah, the Pilaf Saga is arguably the most fantastical part of the whole series due to there just... being animal people and a pole that can stretch to the moon
The idea of Recoome as a "performer" actually works really well because he did ballet as a child. That's what helped him develop his poses and agility.
Doing a re-watch with a couple of guys who've never seen it. All the season 1 stuff they loved so I am so excited to be in the namek arc with them too, we're on episode 22 now. So good. Thank you guys.
Hell I want to play D&D, Tried Roll20, got rolled and smoked by program. Tried Discord, all hell and chaos ensued. Flark that. NOTHING works. So, I write in AI Dungeon 2. I occasionally get into Xbox Parties to get people to listen to bits and pieces. I have to make sure people are at least 17 so the ultra-violence parts that are in it doesn't get skipped over they are some of the coolest fight scenes in there. (D&D magic and like scifi tech that works in tandem.) or they have to be okay with certain content, 18 if they want those explicit sexual parts to be read. Look you don't get anything for free, there is a modest fee, and that is just age outright. Cannot publish story that would break TOS instead it sits unpublished as just a story for me to work on whenever and entertain myself. Maybe if someone pisses me off enough, I WILL include them into my writing. I give them a name, (A new one) a description, and make them into someone that belongs but not for very long. The gimmick I use is, if they have a name, a cool description and weapons know how to fight or something pretty experienced. I just kill them later. Give the audience something to latch onto and hope for, and them kill them. BAD things happen to good people for no real reason. THAT is reality.
"That's what I like about you, you like me when I'm not pretending to be a firefighter or an athlete or a dog trainer." "Space dogs? You have Space Dogs on Earth?" "That's right, we call them Earth Space Dogs. I train them."
I’m actually happy that the next episode is being handled separately, because I think it deserves its own breakdown. Episode 20 is probably the episode I rewatched the most.
The best thing about watching "this thing we're doing" is hearing you guys talk openly and honestly about your feelings. Kaiser talking about how he almost didn't want to do it on this particular day and didn't want to be too cynical really shows how much love and passion you all put into these projects. Thanks for sharing with us.
I’m glad you didn’t cancel it Scott! I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve personally been looking forward to these every week. The gift you all have given the DB community through DBZA is incredible. Thank you!
Also, his mood got better and better through the episode. I can understand that some artists, as individuals, are very critical of their own work. But when they get to create with a team that they really love, the memories can mean more than the final product. Kaiser’s joy, excitement, deep references, and backstories are what make this series so great.
Oh, you definitely can speak for me! I literally WAIT for the next episode as soon as I watch the one that was just released! And, I usually watch them twice, not back to back 😂, but yeah! Love this whole project!
I always saw the Sex Dream joke as Bulma being so bored with Yamcha that Vegeta's edgy energy was infinitely more appealing. And the idea of him wanting her more than the dragon balls (and therefore immortality) made her feel valued and prioritized.
I always felt the Bulma and Vegeta joke was more Bulma beginning to fantasize about Vegeta. When she mentions having a dream about him later it kind of feels like an evolution of that as she got to know him more.
I think it'd be fine if you re-wrote a couple of things to make Bulma seem into it, even in the dream. Like, yeah rape fantasies are a thing, but what little we get here isn't enough to say Bulma is fantasizing about it.
@@austinleach1307: the fact anyone familiar with the source material would already know they end up together does help lend a bit of context to her being into it.

The fact that he just did it with very little prompt just makes it even more impressive. He's gotten extremely talented as a writer and as a voice actor! (Edited to remove redundancy)
THANK YOU GUYS! I've watched DBZA more times than I can recount, it is absolute soul food for me and helped me smile in dark times. I'm extremely grateful for the sweat, tears and passion you all put into the series. Have a blessed life!
8:45 I want to say thank you to you guys for mentioning Samurai Syber Squad. I watched that show when I was a kid, but could never remember the name or find it online when I searched for it in the early 2000's and kind of just gave up and forgot about it, but when you guys mentioned it here I thought it sounded familiar and looked it up and was overjoyed to see it was the show I had been looking for all these years!
right? Super-Human Samurai Syber Squad was so dope and cheesy and I loved it. I also love that it was iconic enough to make it into the title of one of the animes, specifically SSSS:Gridman (the 4 s's stand for Super-Human Samurai Syber Squad)
Here's the thing you guys, I know you're not a fan of the sexual violence joke anymore, but it IS key to remember that it's in Bulma's head. R-word fantasies in women are, weirdly enough, not all that uncommon. You might say 'Well, you're clearly a dude how could you possibly know that?' Lemme tell you a little story: I'm a writer for a little-known mobile game called 'Game of Sultans'. In it, you play as the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire - you conquer the world with your army, collect wives for your harem and make as many babies as possible to boost your stats. Now we didn't include THIS bit, but for those unaware: the Sultans would pick their wives and keep them locked up in a tower at Topkapi Palace, never seeing the outside world or their families ever again. Kicker is this: of our 2.5 million-ish players, 87% are FEMALE and over 80% live in Turkey or a surrounding country, so they would absolutely know the true historical context of the game. Hearing that little stat absolutely floored me. It's strange and messed-up, but it's a real thing. There's even an in-game option to play as a female and have a harem of boy-toys, but most players DON'T, they play as a dude and collect all the hot chicks to bang like they're freakin Pokemon. Weird huh?
I've gotta say, as an American who was living in Okinawa during this part of Dragon Ball when it originally aired, I really appreciated the "Grand sports center" bit in Japanese before introducing the Ginyu Force. I heard that bit of advertisement every Wednesday during the show and hearing it again in DBZA felt really nostalgic.
I always thought that the SA dream scene was Bulma having a froidian nightmare because her subconscious was struggling with her attraction to Vegita and her fear of him.
As an Aussie, the unbelievably over the top and stressed Aussie "accent" is amazing, I think it really adds to the bit of Jeice being a 'space Aussie' way more than an actual Aussie playing him. Also appreciate how you didn't go for the Foster's joke.
Kaiser, I have heard SEVERAL reactors say your Burter voice is almost IDENTICAL to the version they remember. Do not put yourself down for voicing 3 gravelly characters because omg your Corrin/Yajirobe banter gives me life.
I love the fact that Vegeta was freaking out thinking they were gonna die bc the Ginyu Force was coming... And Vegeta is the one who killed EVERY MEMBER.
To be fair, the only one who could actually kill on his own at that power level was Guldo (and it depends on whether or not you consider Gohan and Krillin distracting him as an assist). Recoom and Burter were both beaten unconscious by Goku, he only killed Jeice after a zenkai boost, and Ginyu was a frog.
I continue to appreciate that y'all are acknowledging the awful shit y'all shouldn't have done. It never comes across as "apologizing", it comes across as people who have changed, grown, and realized that while the action felt like it had merit at the time it actually didn't. That's *really* respectable. ETA: Also, I'm a pro-wrestler, and I have used y'all's "I'm planting a dumbass tree!" right before I suplexed someone.
@@summerrunner1755 Cool story. I called 911 so I didn't kill myself and got handcuffed to a stretcher. And that was just *one* time I barely managed not to kill myself. Your point?
My biggest takeaway from all these videos, COMMUNITY IS REAL. Fans in the community came around TFS to help them polish and craft this amazing series and love letter to DBZ.
I really love seeing these commentaries every Saturday. Its nice to see your opinions and even when you guys wanted to change something in retrospect. Season 2 is my favorite of the DBZA seasons, though you guys feel like season 3 was your best work.
It's quite fun watching these commentaries just to see how much more fun Lani and Kaiser are having and how much more they are laughing as the episodes go on. Season 1 had some chuckles here and there but Season 2 has had them full on laughing at times, especially with jokes they forgot about. Which just helps show how much better the writing got.
After Lani mentioned watching a couple new watchalongs, I stumbled upon AniMelon's watchthough. It's so pure and happy! It's wonderful seeing everyone react to something that honestly, was a big highlight of the last decade for me.
That never really came off as an SA joke to me, I always thought it was Bulma fantasizing after falling asleep reading an adult novel, especially when it's followed by the "You're hair looks stupid." line from Vegeta.
Kaiser being critical of your own work is always a sign of getting better also it adds to the commentary and makes it interesting to hear what you would do better.
I definitely agree which is why it annoys me at how much of the fans are like kaiser keeps criticizing the abridged that he helped make, and people are getting all whiny about him saying I wouldn't use this or that these days
@@dylanb659 Yeah it’s annoying to hear people complaining about him apologizing. Like if he feels the jokes could have been better or are outdated let him express it.
I get the guys not being super comfortable with it now but they kinda stumbled into a consistent character moment for Bulma here. She obviously likes a bad boy, she hooked up with Yamcha, the bandit that trapped her in a hole to rob her, back in Dragon Ball. She technically knows nothing about Vegeta at that point having only met him once in a threating but surprisingly reasonable confrontation. So her dream going that way makes a lot of sense. That he actually turned out to be a good man at his core was a huge win for Bulma.
9:39 The fish is from when Vegeta almost senses Gohan and Krillin for the first time but they get away due to a huge fish showing up. Vegeta is just like "WTF was that" and then "Hmm It was a god damn fish nevermind"
I like the running joke that Kaiser either voices gay guys that you wouldn't think are gay or straight guys with a gay joke. Trunks is the one with the least gay jokes but they are there.
Just to let you guys know, there's a whole generation of kids (my own son included), that's discovering Dragon Ball through your dub. As it should be. Thank you.

Kaiser has the slight fear he may get somehow dragged into doing the Buu Saga by reliving older content 🤣
The desire is probably still there, but he knows how negatively he and the crew would be affected by the stress of it.
While the Buu saga would still be cool, with everything they've said about it, I'd almost rather they just leave it be. If they were going to do any kind of reunion, I'd somewhat prefer they do a special for the Pilaf saga or something. I know that that wouldn't have most of the major characters from the main series, but that didn't hurt the Bardock special, so I don't see why it would be a problem here.
@@jasonkeith2832 Yeah that's a thing too. Even if Kaiser ended up wanting to start it, he still wouldn't want to drag everyone else into it.
@@jasonkeith2832 But think of the dopamine rush and catharsis they could have from having a complete DBZA series. They could finally close the book on DBZA forever and never have to worry about being asked about it again.
@@Bugattiboy912 They effectively have closed the book with where they have already ended, and they don't have to deal with an saga that would take at least another 30 episodes that could risk yet more problems that plagued the Cell saga.
Honestly I love how good of a friend Lani is here, he looks like he's going out of his way to joke and help Scott's mood here. It's very sweet.
At the start where he kept replaying the intro to get him to loosen up and laugh, it was really sweet.
There was a comment in another video that said lani always interrupted Kaiser and that it was annoying Kaiser
Which I disagree lani is far too considerate to purposefully annoy a friend and Kaiser is an adult and can handle himself. I love their friendship
@@Wingingvoice yea these guys have been friends for many many years. This is how they joke around with each other. We may see it as one of them being annoyed with the other but it's all in fun for them.
Regarding the Bulma Nightmare scene: I always assumed it was her brain attempting to reconcile her conflicting feelings about Vegeta. On the one hand, she's wildly attracted to him. On the other, she knows he's a villain. Add in her desire to 'meet a real man', and those feelings combined in her subconscious to form a nightmare.
Oh my ood, someone finally put it into words!
Brains coming up with dreams is like AI generated stories half the time
Yeah I feel that if not for the situations that were going on and so many woman coming out qith their experiences he probably wouldn't have felt as bad about the joke but if that waant the feel of the moment he'd probably be able to come to terms and see the joke as a joke
I agree. I see no problems with it. It's her fantasy dream.
That makes sense. I just assumed she read too many 'romance' novels with the exact same setup

I had the same experience.
"You thought it was just a simple internet meme, but it was I, DIO!"
Literally me
“Aw crap baskets”
“Oh you guys say that too?”
I’d never heard of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure before this joke

Lani having a blast watching episodes, quoting and miming along, is the best part of TFS commentary tracks.

I also love that it was iconic enough to make it into the title of one of the animes, specifically SSSS:Gridman (the 4 s's stand for Super-Human Samurai Syber Squad)
I always thought that was a great joke, it riffs every single dirty romance novel my wife reads.
I loved Okinawa so much when I visited last year. Wish I could’ve stayed longer

To be fair, the only one who could actually kill on his own at that power level was Guldo (and it depends on whether or not you consider Gohan and Krillin distracting him as an assist). Antfish's Ginyu is in the top 5 of my favorite voices in DBZA, and one of the few that I prefer leagues above the official voice.
