    so there is no test in order to get into residency program? you just get the job and you start the residency? Considering that someone wants to become an ophthalmologist, what should he do?

    Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I plan on pursuing a surgical specialty, probably very competitive as usual but I´m curious on just how competitive? Do you have any info/data to share on the different specialties maybe? I will start working back home soon and need to save money to live in germany until I get a job but I am so unsure on how long that would take. In some countries it could take years to get into a competitive residency, are you aware if that´s the case for germany as well?

      It depends on many factors like location, the area of surgery, size of the hospital, e.t.c. Plastic surgery, for example, is quite competitive, but it isn't impossible to get in.

    doctor, thank you very much for your video. I have one question, if non-eu citizen studied in Romania (eu country) but only get diploma and not a medical license. can this non-eu citizen still get approbation in germany or does this person need to get medical license in romania first?

    1.Is it possible to do the language course up to B1 in my home country ( Gothe inst) and come to Germany for only B2 and C1 and then write the medical language exam
    2 if I do this, will this be sufficient or I will have to start the course all over again from A1 when I get to Germany if I apply for the German language course

      Dermatology is one of the most competitive specialties in Germany but it isn't impossible to get in.

    I’m about to finish cardiac surgery residency. I want to move to Germany to work in my field but I’m just curious if I wanted to do another surgical speciality is there any age cutoff? I’m 38 thanks

      Hi, aside from the retirement age, there is no age limit to getting into residency.

      Hi Neema, you are welcome. Unfortunately, one is not allowed to work while on the language course visa.

      Since Ukraine ISN'T a EU country nope. You have to take a medical terminology test in German and etc.

      Your age is not an issue.
      Learn German language to the B2 level first.

      Having a medical diploma/degree and proof of internship for those who studied outside the Eu is enough.

      The visa was for three months. The duration of stay gets extended in Germany.

      You are welcome. No, residency in Germany is done independently. It's not attached to a university.
