    Whew chile… the ghetto! I never thought I’d see the day I’d have to film this video. But as always, I hope my journey prevents at least one person from making the mistakes I’ve made. Love y’all, and thanks for watchinggg! 💗

      I was just about to start accutane after watching your older video. Seeing this now and I’m sacred.

      My acne came back after two courses of accutane. Although it's not as bad it's definitely super annoying after the intensive 6 month treatment. I learned it has nothing to do with skincare regimen. It's very hard to treat hormonal acne with topical treatments that's why accutane works so well to treat it. Without birth control combined with topical medications after accutane my skin would be worse .

    Honestly, even with the breakouts, your skin looks so healthy and glowy and still beautiful 😊 I have finally embraced mine as a look because the stress I put myself thru over my skin was so time consuming! I focus on my brows and eye lashes. I exfoliate using a retinol I use sunscreen, and that is my look😊

    Omg, this is exactly how mine came back! Exercise and protein shakes, then the breakouts came back!

      Thank you! 🥹 I’m optimistic things will start to turn around. Honestly I feel like this was avoidable had I stuck to the right skincare regimen and diet, but like you said, we live and we learn. No point in crying over spilt milk!

    Acne is the TRAILER PARK! I’ve had acne for over 20 years and had accutane twice. The acne came back both times. I’m still trying to figure it out. With age it has gotten better but it’s still annoying.
    What I will say is that you’re beautiful and you absolutely glow. You have a whole fiance and I can guarantee he loves you for you not your skin. So in the process of figuring it out give yourself grace and know that your true beauty is always shining through no matter what your skin does on any day.

    Cutting out gluten, no diary, sugar and low cards have helped my skin significantly. Also seeing a naturopathic doctor who helped me figured out with the root of the problem which is PCOS also helped with my cystic acne. No medication needed more so changing my diet. Skin changed within a month after incorporating those things. Wishing you the best on your skin journey. Your beautiful regardless.

    • @A_Wilson

      I agree. Acne stems from what is put in the body. The best thing that's helped me long term is drinking lots of water. We have to flush out our system constantly. I used to have cystic acne that left dark scars as well. Water has made ALL the difference in every area in my health. My thing has been, if I can't use something while I'm pregnant, then it can't be good long term.

    • @MT-yx5cu
      @MT-yx5cu ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@A_Wilson many times its hormonal not just what you ingest. If that were the case acne wouldn't be such a difficult condition to treat.

    • @A_Wilson
      @A_Wilson ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @MT I can agree with that. Keep in mind that there are many foods ingested that have been injected with synthetic hormones, i.e. meat, dairy, etc. Synthetic hormones can exacerbate the disruptions of a persons natural hormones. It’s something to consider when trying to combat acne.

    Acne is the worst! My acne comes around my cycle too, but even on calm times I make sure to exfoliate and use retinol to ensure my skin is turning over. The dark spots are the most hateful things...

    • @Naakie
      @Naakie  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wish I had been exfoliating and using a retinol since I ended Accutane. But better late than never! And omg yes. The dark spots are the true enemy of progress.

    • @A_Wilson
      @A_Wilson ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to have cystic acne that left scars as well. Good old fashioned cocoa butter, the hardened consistency kind, cleared my scars. I used it every night religiously. You literally cannot tell that I ever had an issue with acne scarring.

    Yes, as soon as I heard you say whey protein I was like that’s a monster acne causer, especially for people like me, who has sensitivity to dairy / lactose intolerant. I struggle with adult acne as well. And, like you, I sometimes I go a while not being on camera because of skin issues. Truly, you look beautiful and it looks like your skin is going in the right direction.

    Hi Naakie, Thank You for making and sharing this video with us. Acne is no joke! Some reasons we get acne - stress, hormone imbalance, eating junk and bad face hygiene. Just some suggestions - dairy is not good for your acne, eating processed foods and eating other people's food because you are not aware of what they are using or not using in their food. Try buying foods that you have to cook from scratch the Caribbean Way. You know what I mean. You still funny 😄🙏🏾 ❤ Not to worry your acne will go away and never return!

    Your skin still looks better than before. Also, be careful with whey protein products given the heavy dairy content which isn't great for hormones. I'm on my isotretinoin journey and have heard of so so many people that break out again so don't beat yourself up! You look great and will continue to bounce back.

    Its not uncommon for people with hormonal acne to have to go on accutane for 2/3 courses for it to work permanently. For those taking accutane, it’s important to have achieved 10,000mg by the end of your course. 😊

  • @maurasworld000
    @maurasworld000 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Oh my gosh!! The same timeline of accutane and I just started to get cystic breakouts that have lasted longer since,I’d say, this March (last month). I just reached out to my derm and awaiting their response but I feel the frustration girl ESPECIALLY as one whose trying to gain weight and started being more constant since this March after quitting my job. You would think that being less stressed and focusing on health and fitness would avoid this but clearly not 😭 thank you for sharing honestly. I was so confused like why a year after my accutane course am I just a cystic sister again -___-

    I hate acne so much, I am also taking Arazlo and in currently in the "gets worse to get better purging stage". This is my last method before trying accuntane. I forgot how horrible acne is, I had a good break with Dapsone and Tretinoin last year. The struggle has been real for over 15 years😪. Thanks for sharing how real this journey is, it will get better. You are BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤

    I’ve been on tretinoin for like 9 months I think? I started drinking protein shakes last month bc I also want to gain weight, and omg, my skin looks like it did last summer before tretinoin 😢 I’m trying to recover from it right now. I have my first real dermatologist appointment next week! I kind of hope she prescribes me accutane, but I’m willing to do anything she tells me to at this point. I’ve had acne for like 15 years :/

    Is it a hormone imbalance? That's the main reason teenagers get it cuz of hormone changes. Diet too. Maybe something your allergic too but still eating. I used to have horrible menstrual, but i balanced hormones and it changed my life. I got off EVERY CHEMICAL POSSIBLE. Most imbalances are stress, vitamin deficiency, or chemicals from products. Sorry for this comment if u addressed these in other vids.

    That is so frustrating, but thank you for sharing. Also aquaphor is seriously the best. I’ve tried so many different lip balms and masks etc, but aquaphor is undefeated. I feel the same about wearing makeup on my skin too.
    For post workouts I get super sweaty too, so I would always wash with cerave benzoyl peroxide cleanser right after. It’s too drying for everyday use but I felt it killed off any bacteria that sits in your skin after sweating and touching equipment.

      Hey im in the same situation and worried about wheter its safe for my age i took roaccutane at 24/25yrs old now im about to be 39 and had a relapse mid last year. Is it safe to take later on in life for a second time? What has been your experience a second time around?

    • @fedfessed
      @fedfessed 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jinmgrant94 I am 34 years old, finished my 2nd round last August. I was in college the first time i took it, I was able to rest while on it but now with a full time job and 2 kids, it was a lot tougher. A lot of joint pains, it felt like i was tired all the times. If you are healthy, I would give it a shot. You would still get the dry skins, dry lips, lots of moisturizers but the joint pain and being tired all the times was the toughest part of taking it at that age.
