The 8 pro looks more true to life though. How it looks in person ishow it looks inthe pro photos. The 8 is adding contrast. The pro also offers manual focus.
I actually use the 5X Digital Zoom on the Pixel 8 and it gives excellent results to the point where it could be compared to the same results from the 5X lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which made me feel that 5X lens has no benefit other than giving Some depth in portraits only.
That was a very good video. To be honest, most of the time I didn't see a difference and where I did see a difference, I even found the Pixel 8 a little nicer, just pay an extra €300 because of the zoom and night videos? No thanks! The normal one is enough for me to photograph my cat. Thank you for everything.
the difference is really in the ultrawide and zoom and that's basically it. The selfie camera o nthe Pro has autofocus, but I didn't notice a difference there at all.
It's terrible they don't make a smaller phone with the Pixel 8 Pro camera setup. I know so so many people who want a premium cam setup with a zoom/telephoto lens on a smaller phone like the iPhone 15Pro and S23.
My thoughts exactly! I ordered the 8 Pro but not sure if I'll be able to live with the size and weight for the sake of the zoom. Also a ridiculously good pre order offer made the Pro cheaper than the 8, so I thought why not. Worst case I'll have to sell it and end up getting the 8 or even iPhone 15 Pro for the size
@@narcyzascvierch8309 you're right, just 1 year too late. Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and more all had flat sides last year, Google was just playing catch up 😅
This is one of the best camera comparisons on youtube. Thanks a lot! But please add a few more landscape photos in your next reviews, the green tones are very important for landscape and nature photographers and there you immediately see if a phone is good for that. (Samsung for example sucks because the photos are oversaturated and the green looks fake)
Thank you for the video. It was the comparison I was looking for and yeah like many others here I’m totally bummed that the eight doesn’t get better extra wide and the telephone photo lens. Last year I bought the seven Pro and had it for a while but I just it was just too big. I am on my feet all day at work and then I’m a runner and so the seven pro just it was like carrying a weight so I got the eight this time but I’m bummed about the, lack of all the lenses on the eighth versus the pro
imo, they should have had the 8 with the telephoto (even a 3x could be fine) at $699 and call it the 8 Plus at $899, as is. or maybe do a regular line and Pro line like iPhone (which Samsung should also do, imo). I'm over companies keeping the best specs for the big phones. Out of the big 3 in the US, I don't get why Apple is the only one to offer a small Pro model.
Can't put my finger (eye?) on it, the shadows look ever so slightly more pronounced and pleasing on the smaller Pixel 8. Wish OEMs would leave the shadows and grain alone in the smartphone photography. Not a huge fan of the agressive HDR approach this year..
thank you for doing the important camera comparisons. most people already know which company they want to buy. but some of us want to know if its worth the upgrade to the higher end model or the base model.
I dont speak English so dont be rude with my bad English in the comment, the pixel 8 and 8 pro it's the best camera in smarthphone for the moments, i liked so much this review man, very good job. Thanks for giving us a great camera test of two amazing smarthphones. I want a Pixel 8 or 8 pro, i can see what is the same camera, the only change between one and another is the x5 optical telephoto
It's certainly consistent, I'd love if you could show a post digital zoom for the 8 to match the 8 pro, see if those 50mp can resolve the detail of the 5x telephoto zoom, maybe it might do well with 3.5x? Who knows. Anyways, great vids as always, I don't often comment but rest assure I watch most of your content. Smartphones kinda lost it's allure a few years ago for me, now photo quality doesn't matter as much to me as it did before, they all take great photos! I went from a OP6 to a Pixel 6A and tbh, I much prefer the color rendition and portrait mode from my 6. I got a Ricoh GR3 and that is an awesome aps-c pocket cam, so that does most of the heavy lifting for me, anyways, just letting you know where I'm at heh, gauge your audience and all. Anyways! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for tuning in and the comment. If oyu're on a Pixel 6a, you'll be in for a nice surprise once you update to a newer phone when it comes to camera performance.
For me, the Pixel 8 Pro cameras are not worth the 300 eur price tag difference from the vanilla 8 model. The 12mp ultrawide is almost on-par with the 48mp in almost every situation. I do prefer the small for factor for point and shoot, though...
Another great video, I w2ould save my money and go with the regular 8, I would miss the tele photo, but the price is just too steep, they are competing with apple and hurt them themselves.
As someone who desperately wanted telephoto but also only does small phones, I had to skip telephoto to keep the form factor. I wish they did both the normal and pro in both mini and XL versions to appease both camps.
Pixel 7 vs pixel 8 💥
@phandriod other nice video. I see in pixel 8 images main camera mentioned 50 megapixels.I wonder how did it able to capture 50 megapixels,i could see only 12.5 in my pixel 8
Sir please help me in choosing between pixel 8 and iPhone 15 plus I'm getting both at around same pricing. Also I have heard that pixel 8 battery drains fast even at the minimal usage. How is the battery life ? Pls help Thanks
The Pro selfie is washed out compared to the regular pixel. Could probably be fixed with software update. 48mp vs 12mp - no difference in detail or quality that I can see (viewing in 4k on 27" monitor) Extra £300 for telephoto - not for me Great comparison!
If your video is accurate (and I have difficulty believing it is) then for photos the Pixel Pro is superior and yet for video I prefer the image quality on the 8. I cannot comprehend this. I would think better photos would translate to better video as well....Odd
Both phones need fine tuning for selfies (photos and video). The main cameras are the same, the results aren't, the Pro is slightly better. The ultra wide on the Pro is far better. And there is the 5x zoom on the Pro. So I prefer the Pro for my money. For a smaller (and cheaper) phone, the Galaxy S23 may be a better choice. A comparison between the regular Pixel 8 and the Galaxy S23 could be interesting.
On the main camera the pro seemed to over-expose a little. Then again he could take ten shots on one camera of the same scene and get slightly different results/ exposures
Why nobody test shooting moving objects, kids playing, running, dogs running. I need these tests, because this will be my most of time photoobjects and main reason to buy a new phone 😢
I thought the same thing glad to hear it wasn’t my imagination but I started stopping each time the front camera was shown on screen and I think the eight did a better job than pro with the selfie camera
I would choose the pixel 8 pro despite the fact that the 2X digital zoom Look worse than the regular pixel 8 in some night condition. We can see it at 10:03 and at 12:20. The 2X of the pro looks more blurred than the regular pixel.
Pixel 8 selfie is absolutely shit because no autofocus. If your video calling or taking selfies anything less than a foot or foot and a half away from your face looks shit. It's a blurry mess
I too wish google would make a mini pro. I have thought this for years. Clearly google is to myopic to see what the public wants. I think if they had a mini pro it would sell out.
Pixel 8. Many photos looked better than the 8 Pro to me.
for me too.
The 8 pro looks more true to life though. How it looks in person ishow it looks inthe pro photos. The 8 is adding contrast. The pro also offers manual focus.

Would be better if you could show how the Pixel 8's 5x digital zoom compares against the 5x telephoto lens of the Pro.

Both phones did great when it comes to photos. The video quality has improved. The base model did great. Really not any big differences
Why did some of the regular 8 photos look ever so slightly cleaner than pro's one on the main sensor?
Why didn't you test the Pixel 8 digital 5x? I also missed the comparison of macro photos

Pixel 8 looks more beautiful than 8 pro😂😂😂
The Pixel 8 Pro has this magenta hue to all of its photos. Looks like in video too.
The Pixel 8 Pro ultra wide is an absolute knock out. Clear difference here imo. So frustrating its not on the smaller 8.
Other than the Telephoto lens honestly the Pixel 8 looked more sharp to me.
I had both phones and agree. the 8 just took sharper pics even though the pro supposedly has a better lens,
