- Time for a Pixel 8 Pro versus OnePlus 12 camera comparison to see which device captures better photos in day-to-day use. The OnePlus 12 has a pretty significant camera system upgrade this year, but is it enough to catch up or even pass the imaging capabilities of the Pixel 8 Pro?

as much as i would like to support OP12, the pixel 8 pro is quite alot better when it comes to cameras and shooting.
True, but camera is the only space where its better, OP12 wins in every other aspect. Unless you're using your phone for photography only, OP12 is a better device.

The colours of the OnePlus selfie is much better than the pixel's at 0:58. I own a pixel 7 pro and I hate how I have to edit almost every selfie I take due to pixel processing darkening my skin/eyes and even making my skin look grainy and like reptile skin at times. I'd rather have my selfies overexposed than underexposed and blackened like the Pixel. The same thing applies for the selfie video as well. At 2:25 of the video if you look at his mouth and eyes in the Pixel selfie video they're devoid of colour and almost look like black holes have been overlayed, the inside of his mouth looks extremely dark, underexposed, unnatural and makes him look sick. The oneplus exposes the skin tone and features of the face much better for selfie photos and videos than the pixel and I hope google can fix this but Google never really seems to take our issues seriously as pixel owners.
Thanks for the review and the great content!
Agreed💯
Agreed 💯
You can fix the underexposure in post, the blown highlights on One Plus are lost. I on the other hand like Pixel 8 Pro's selfies as they are balancing the subject and the background.
@@picco2833 sometimes increasing HDR in post will work yes, but if you're taking a portrait selfie then nothing can fix the pixel post processing which turns your skin into looking like it's a dark reptile skin
@@lololol01010l I agree that portrait mode is the weakest point of Pixel 6+ phones, I usually don't use it as you can get better results with the Portrait mode added later in GPhotos.
Great video! Long time pixel owner here. Went from P7P TO OP12. Lasted 2 days before returning it and going back to my P7P. OP has made great improvements, but real world, every day use... Absolutely no comparison. Pixel is miles ahead!
I did not expect to read that. So you went from a Pixel 7 Pro to a OnePlus 12 back to a Pixel 7 Pro? About 4 months ago, I was trying to choose between a OnePlus 12 and a Pixel 8 Pro. I sided with the OnePlus 12 then, but today I am experiencing a BT connection issue with my OnePlus 12. It's a major problem for me in that the OnePlus is randomly disconnecting from my car's Android Auto. I'll be in navigation, and it drops out and doesn't reconnect. This is not acceptable for me. So I have a Pixel 8 Pro now on the way. Your comment gave me some encouragement. Thank you.
The Cleveland Art Museum is an amazing place. The color between these two phones couldn't be more different. The OnePlus definitely seems more conservative with the saturation but the Pixel seems sharper in most circumstances.
Wow that OnePlus selfie camera REALLY OVEREXPOSES doesn't it?
I really do like your camera test videos but i personally want to just watch the photo parts not the video but i have to search for it among the mixed of photos and videos. I would like to suggest that separating these 2 parts makes your videos a lot better. Thank you
Yes, the pixel definitely take better pictures and videos; but very trivial differences. The night shots from op looks like night shots should be; darker!! not resemble daylight like the pixel! the videos captures are very subjective too; to me the op does a pretty decent job with videos. The bottom line for the average consumer are two things that the op excels over any flagship cameras in 2024; and that is the price and the battery size. I will buy a Oneplus 12 in a heartbeat, just for those two points.
Im having trouble getting over how far off the white balance is on the Pixel.
It's definitely a subjective thing whether you like it or not, but every photo and video taken by the pixel was so far into the warm end of the spectrum in the daytime and the cold end at night (but it was weird because sometimes it was very warm in some shots at night depending on the lens that was being used) that it was very unnatural.
You can like that, that is totally okay to think that looks good but its not how things look in real life.
You can really tell on the low light photos of the bar sign with the blue lettering that said "Cedar Lee" (8:36) where everything on the Pixel end took on a cooler hue, which made the actual blue lettering of "Cedar Lee" look more white than it peobably did in real life.
Then when the Pixel took the 5x telephoto shot it corrected itself.
What i think is happening here (and I am by no means an expert) is that the AI post-processing that Google phones are known for is doing too much and in my opinion all that processing hurts the image, because it comes out with an image that just isnt true to life.
But again, its fine to like the Pixel's camera more. A ton of people do.
are you high?
pixel camera is the coldest\the most tame vibrancy out of top 3 (iphone, samsung, pixel).
It's often needed to ramp up color temp, esp for anything foliage in dispersed lighting.
as for strange processing of outdoor neon signs at night, yes, pixel does it.
Pixel still the king. OnePlus like always good but not as good as Samsung Pixel or iPhone. Photos with moving objects is the biggest problem with OnePlus camera.
Thats samsungs biggest problem. I think oneplus has more problems with colours and sometimes crushed darker areas. The mic could be better too.
I don't know what's wrong with your eyes but the OnePlus 12 definitely looks better. The colors look more pleasant on the OnePlus 12.
@@kendrelewis5465 my eyes are ok. Thank you.
I don't think they are if you think the pixel won that comparison.
@@kendrelewis5465 In your eyes OnePlus 12 is better in my eye Pixel. Everybody can have their own choice. I don't see a problem here.
Hello everyone, one question. Is it better to buy Xiaomi 13T pro or OnePlus 12? I'm changing my Mate 20pro, and it's hard for me to find a phone with a good camera, which one to buy between the Xiaomi 13t pro and the OnePlus 12, the camera above all is important🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️
OnePlus 12 is much better
This is the first time I am seeing OnePlus taking more detailed and sharper photos than pixel. Look at those 5x 6x and main camera shots. OnePlus actually captures a lot more details than the pixel. Wow, this is surprising. Although colors the way different, I gotta give it to the OnePlus for details and sharpness. It just have to dial down the exposure and hilights a little bit. Even the ultrawide shots are more detailed on OnePlus images. Good job OnePlus
Pixel is doing good by controlling the colors and highlights, actually to ning down the colors and hilights a little too much, but also over sharpening a lot, and images are very much over processed they dont look professional
Weird, I saw more detail in most of the photos taken from the Pixel, except a few of the last ones that were against some lights. But the bast majority the Pixel had more details.
@@Manuel-rl6um if you look closely, the sharpness that you see on pixel images which seems to be more than that of OnePlus is mostly due to oversharpening. If you watch it on high resolution and zoom in, you would see artifacts and pixelated textures due to oversharpening on pixel images whole OnePlus image looks less sharp but the details are more natural and each and every lines and curves are easy to observe on OnePlus images.
@@narendrairengbam112 many OnePlus images were blurry.
Comparison video straight to the point. Loved it
Finally someone made this video
I'll pick OnePlus for photos & videos from Pixel.
But props to OnePlus for upgrading their cameras❤️
The pixel just depreciated(now costs less than a OP12), looks like a good time to buy one, even though I am a fan of OP12. Thanks for video ❤
Pixels always tend to take cooler tone images. It's been like this since earlier pixels like pixel 3 and all. However the display on pixel phones are on the warmer side. You just can't set the display color to get a pure white screen.
This^ i repeat, pixel screens are warm and you can't change it in settings.
so that's why I noticed the display being warm on friend's 6a a couple year back. I was trying to find how to change it back to normal@@Anticlimacticwhale
Pixel does a better job in photos, and the difference is even more obvious in videos. But, I'm impressed with OnePlus 12 tbh. You can buy it for 50-70% of the Pixel's price and it has a lot better chipset.
I respectfully disagree, Pixel's photos feel way too flat, oversharpened and overprocessed, they have a very artificial look to them.
@@Eihei Well, maybe comparing these pictures side by side natively in full resolution would change your mind. It was one of the videos that pushed me into buying a Pixel 8 Pro. I cannot agree that they are over processed. You can make full res photos, and you can clearly see the noise and tiny details even in bad light conditions.
Though, I agree that the stock photos from P8 Pro are a bit flat. I wish there was an option to disable the HDR to capture higher contrast. Also, I wish there was an option to use the color profiles, as you can pick them on the iPhone. Otherwise, it's a top camera system on the market, with decent filming capabilities. It's on par with iP15 Pro, but with better HDR, and more natural looking photos.
@@michakoodziej8760 the thing is, I would literally never want to shoot full resolution. Sure, it's definitely by far the best full resolution mode on any smartphone right now, however the file is bloated. You are still not getting actual 50MP of detail. Also I want from my phone to take decent, already edited photos. Otherwise I would simply use my mirrorless. I do appreciate the skin tones though. Well, it's still up to people's preference, and for me Pixel, Samsung and iPhone are literally the last phones I would pick, since I really dislike how they process.
Anyway, you can't convince me those selfies in the video look better on Pixel man, he looks 10 years older and sick. I don't understand what is Pixel doing there.
I wanted to like Oneplus 12 but except of very few better selfies everything seems to be better on Google 8 pro. Oneplus seemed to have a bit more vivid colors saturation but that may be rectified by settings I guess? And that 3x tele on OP seems useless compared to seemingly worse digital zoom on G8 that managed to look better in all conditions.
I have the pixel 8 but really want the oneplus, but every singel picture or video looks way better on pixel.😢

In my opinion - for the OnePlus 12 cameras to be so comparable to the Pixel in many ways, says a lot. (Except selfies, the Pixels take very unflattering selfies)
I feel like people want the 12's cameras to be the hands down, absolute best just because the phone truly excels at literally everything else.
i wish you would do a camera comparison with VIVO X100 pro
Bro if the OP12 would give desktop mode, i would instabuy it
Andronix and running Linux is somewhat of an option-- you can run libreoffice, etc.
Why does Google Pixel still won't allow taking portraits with tele?
You can add the blur after take a photo with the 5x
@@jA.78194 already did that. However, my question remains still.
Whichever camera is the most color accurate is the best for me. I have a samsung s24+ and i hate how it oversaturates and overexposes pictures especially when taking a picture of a dark sky that i like the look of
For me, the only problem with samsung s24 ultra is the processing. Like the colors are way off and dont look true to life. I would jump for an s24 ultra instantly if only it had accurate colors.
Your opinion would be appreciated 😊
Oneplus camera had improved quite a bit. Very capable. But Pixel is still 👑. Those shots looks so clean. 👍
A pixel 8 pro is better as camera for sure. But 1+12 is a king of nightshots, I would to say. This is about the main camera. Wide/tele/selfie/video still better on a pixel. And if we will talnk not only about camera, I think 1+12 is a clear winner.
If you never compare you would never think of one any better than the other!🤔
How bad the front camera is on OP and its mic, it's insane.
Pixel 8
Oneplus is passable with competitive levels of sharpness and detail. Albeit somewhat lifeless. Hdr is also a miss in the front camera.
OnePlus's post processing is phenomenal.
I'm here to see a 40k/60fps video sample but there is none.
Wtf is wrong with selfie from OnePlus. Ultra wide i prefer OnePlus. Some night shots too.
OnePlus's selfie was never their strong suit.
I don't take many videos, but damn is the op12 awful at it. But when it comes to photos? I think I liked the color on the OP more than the pixel.
0:59 selfie...Pixel 8 Pro hands down.
Just bought a brand new pixel 8 pro 512gb bay with subscribtion and promotion deal for just 458 euro's. Awesome deal, right? 🤩
Pixel photos look oversharpened like a typical smartphone. Oneplus looks more DSLR like with its laid back sharpening and less HDR smartphone look. I definitely prefer oneplus.
Yup pixel needs to lay off the oversharpening. Problem is, average people think sharper is better.
Answer is no, not when it's artificial sharpening
Sharper and more contrast, demon eyes as someone said with the Pixel. Can help in some cases but a too unnatural for me. OP12 definitely looks like a Sony cam with the softer look. Though I will say video here looked a bit shaky and sometimes overexposed.
so, it is so evident that i have made a gigantic mistake at this stage after i had selected oneplus 12R over samsung s23 fe which had no doubt better cameras than this phone. let it be known that i had waited 4 years for this upgrade which was not much but I guess, you dont get what you really want in life
4:15 what the hell happened here with op ?
The pixel is jus too good
The pixel 8 pro is about 300 euros cheaper over here... I guess its a no-brainer I pick that one?
The oneplus12 hasn't received a single camera update
It is not even close for the OnePlus.
It is like these two are in a completely different class.
+1
If one plus figures out skin tones they have a winner
Whoa why does your selfie camera look so bad on the OnePlus?
I am not going to pretend my OnePlus can beat a pixel on still photos but that looked WAY worse than what i am getting. Are you sure it is not broken in some way?
Agreed I've got OnePlus 12 genuinely think he's got a dirty front camera
That's funny, I think the selfies on the pixel are not good at all. Dark dead black eyes in every one.

One plus is right there hanging on with the pixel. Night node is actuallt better on the One plus and for that price you are pretty damn stupid if you buy anything else lol
The way the Pixel murdered the OnePlus. It wasn't even close. Total fatality

Not really. Was pretty close. Pixels font camera although better at hdr gives people wierd black demon eyes.
💯
In your dreams
Wtf was that @0.59 !! One plus was horrible
Having watched the first half a dozen pictures the pixel clearly better. The one plus does not look sharp and focused.
Some of these shot comparisons look like you were purposely taking bad shots on the OnePlus 12. Look at 4:16. The two pictures are taken from different zooms, and the OnePlus 12 is being focused on the painting in the background in order to blur the armor in the foreground. Pretty bad comparison.
Píxel 👑
I see most of the Pixel photos were better, sometimes by a big difference. More detailed in most of them.
Selfie and video Pixel was miles ahead.
Microphone was also better.
Pixel wins
The op12 is just too warm
I saw the exact opposite.
In the day light the Pixel looked way too warm to me and then way too cool at night.
White balance on the OP looked pretty spot on when looking at them side to side like this.
@@Ejohns1004 ive used both and ended up going with the pixel 8 and the s24 ultra. I love oneplus but they just can't seem to make a good camera.

OnePlus 12 is better than the pixel 8 pro. Oneplus the best android phone in the wrorld this is a king 👑
You need to get your eyes checked because you must be blind.
Agree
In some shots, people might prefer the OnePlus due to it's higher saturation and contrast. Pixel is clearly better overall especially in videos.
I am more impressed about your bad pictures you take blurry en shaky haha
I dont get why people like the pixel so much. I own one myself and the photos are sooo overproced. Shure at the first look its a sharp and crunchy image but if you realy into Photographie and not just a Instagram kid, you notice that the oneplus is a step ahead. The images have shadows and look organic.
Videos pixel 8 pro are have jiter in the real world . Apple 100 times better . I own one plus ,iphone 14 and piece of shit pixel 8 pro. Ilk take iphone or oneplus over shitbox pixel 8 pro

First of all, amazing video. But one question, wich one gives the best color accuracy? I see a lot of difference but hard to tell which is true to life. I really like the 1+12 because it is a very good all round smartphone and i really want to upgrade my s21plus. But still in doubt.
From what I gathered it's actually the wrong white balance on Pixel's side. There are quite a few people who complain that Pixel 8 tends to prefer cooler white balance when it should be more warm.
Nonetheless setting which represents the real colors aside - OnePlus 12's photos have simply more pleasant colors to me, they look like how i would edit them.
Yes op12 is worth upgrade from s21 plus, top notch chipset 8 gen 3, great battery life, 100 watt charging, 50W wireless charging, decent cameras, qhd and bezel less display strong built, price is reasonable unlike other flagships, alnost 600 to 700 usd depends country and discounts, almost 500 to 600 usd less than the price of s24 ultra.
Indoor colours are so different that I can't understand which one is true to life 😮
@@georgeazzopardi9881 I believe in fact I have an 8 Pro 😉
Pretty sure the OP12 is more true to life. The Pixel does a lot more to automatically enhance the image.
Oneplus easy. Your skin looks horrible and dull on pixel
8 pro ❤
For the pictures, the Pixel crushed it on all of the rear cameras. For the front-facer, the OP12 easily took better snap. For video, the OP12 isn't even competitive.
My biggest surprise was how the 6x camera from the OnePlus 12 performed. It was not good. No OIS or EIS, maybe? Every shot was blurry.
Is this after the master mode update for op12?
No! I just got the OnePlus 12 and I know for a fact it will take better pictures than what the Pixel 8 Pro did in this video.
The 1+ jitters alot during video... :/
I am both pixel 8 pro used for 450 pounds, like new. I'm happy with it. It's good for the price, but I will not give him more than 600 pounds. )
Before pixel I used iPhone 15 pro max. Pixel better camera's, faster interface, better keyboard. If you find an iPhone for 800, it will be good, but pixel gives you more flexibility in photo

Could have done without the music, it's a bit too loud.
Main, telephoto: Oneplus 12
Selfie, ultrawide, night, video: Pixel 8 pro
Oneplus and overall Chinese manufacturers really need to step up their selfie game it's very trashy, and it's unacceptable on a flagship phone.
OnePlus 🔥🔥
I'd love to upgrade my Pixel 6 Pro to a OnePlus just for the customizations, but damn when I see videos like this it makes me feel I'm gonna miss out on a good camera, so I might end up meeting in the middle and getting a Samsung eventually.
I didn't like them both
I think the OPPO X7 Ultra or Vivo X100 pro
They can crush the pixel and oneplus so easily 😉
You know I gotta laugh these guys all love the one plus all these content creators but they all use the pixel as there daily driver 😂😂😂😂😂
