    Perfect timing..I’m getting ready to redo my hacked 6.0 exhaust in my stretch TJ and all your troubles will be mine also. I’ve got a sm465/ORD doubler with 3&4 links and SD diffs so space is tight, I was contemplating a single side dump but the dual setup is awesome. I have a rear Antirock so it’s in the way of any high clearance tail exit pipe. Looking at what you did it will almost directly fit my rig..I will be stealing all your guys ideas!

    here is a Crazy. Crazy idea. how about running the Exhaust though the Frame? Connect with a V-band welded to the frame for easy on/off and seal up all the holes.

    • @Garagespeedengineering
      @Garagespeedengineering ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea, sooooo many little factory holes, and there are like 4 dowels that run thru the frame on each side. would have been trick. and the rear of the frame pinches really tight at the back half.

  • @brianbusch2840
    @brianbusch2840 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow really amazing tedious work. Great job! I am a little curious why y’all didn’t go with dual exhaust down each side for better flow… but what you came up with is pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing the tub dropped down to give a better perspective of how the tips come out from the frame and tub.

    • @adidas4275
      @adidas4275 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my guess is just packaging. The other side has the driveshaft and all the wiring for the trans... can be challenging to run a 3" pipe there without tons of heat build up.
      but maybe they will give you a more knowledgeable answer

    • @Garagespeedengineering
      @Garagespeedengineering ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there is ZERO room down the driver side, with the flat belly and the links and driveshaft, you cant even really get anything thru there, the wire harness and fuel lines will run up the passanger side frame rail also. will be heat wrapped.

    Knowing from working on these type builds all the time you had to know the exhaust would be challenging. Considering that there was extensive work done in the why not run the exhaust through the length of the frame. Not a new idea. Lincoln did it on cars in the fifties.

    question - and i don't know but wanted to ask. Regarding trying to eyeball the pipe to join with another and get angles etc.... why couldn't you spray foam the area (i know it's sticky but some type of foam product) to foam the area, so it'll harden a bit to where you could cut it out... but then bisect the foam chunk to be able to get the lines and angles on connecting the two pieces?

  • @edwardsimmons3721
    @edwardsimmons3721 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like to know if you have long term experience with the exhaust hangers. That exhaust seems to be to solid for the flex the engine will produce. I have had bad experiences with no movement in the exhaust.

    • @Garagespeedengineering
      @Garagespeedengineering ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, thats why we put the flex bellow in there to hang the muffler, cat and the rest of the exhaust. The tabs length and the fact, that most is hung off the same frame rail, should minumise the movement, and the headers and collector are hung from the engine, that shouldnt flex. there is a 1/2" clearance everywhere. we also have a few goodies coming up that will help minumize the chassis flex. I thought about this exhaust for a long time, lol. i feel like it should work out really well. thanks for the question.

  • @perfectlyundonecustoms
    @perfectlyundonecustoms ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Building exhaust systems is most easy part of a build. With a builders kit its like Legos, and cheating. Get a bender and bend your own from straight pipe. That is where exhaust gets tough. Especially when you run dual exhaust and both sides need to mirror from front to back. May I ask why you didn't run the crossover pipe back behind the transfer case rather than having the low hanging fruit? What are you doing for skid plates, will that crossover protrude through the skid plate? Also, is there a reason you didn't just use a "y" instead of spending 3x your time building a collector? For rear hangers why didn't you use solid exhaust isolators on the tail pipes?

    • @Garagespeedengineering
      @Garagespeedengineering ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well. most people dont have an exhaust bender in thier garage. There is ZERO room to run anything down the left side of the chassis, and the cab is 1.5" lifted from the frame, this is a flat belly 4 link system, we lifted this engine package as high as we could get it, so the 4 link could get as much triangulation as we could get out the front, that crossover pipe sticks out about 1" bellow the frame rail, most stick out about 3 " and the trans pan and oil pan stick out bellow the frame as well, hers does not. buying an off the shelf y was not an option, again, there is a very limited space available and it had to be custom. solid exhaust hangers? cause frame will still flex and move. appreciate the questions.

    • @perfectlyundonecustoms
      @perfectlyundonecustoms ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Garagespeedengineering please don't get me wrong, I am not busting your cajones, or being judgy. I did the same as you with Jenny's Wyld Chyld YJ only we managed to have just enough room to run 2.5 inch stainless down the left frame and crossover under the Borg Warner transfer case rear shaft yolk to a 3" stainless Y. I am a little bit of an exhaust snob. I used to bend exhaust systems for Muffler City in Upland, CA. Express Muffler and Hitch in Escondido, CA. Wholesale Tube Bending in Escondido, CA. Hot Rods and Custom Stuff in Escondido, CA. I got into building Sand Cars, Pre-Runners, Trophy Trucks, Mech-Tech Motorsports in Escondido, CA., And I used to be the Co-Driver / Crew Chief for James (Jim) and Mark Temple Jr / Sr at Temple Construction Racing. I just got a tube bender I am going to start building custom cages and chassis here in Kanab, Utah. Coming from the same basic background and area, I totally recognize the quality and value of what you do.
