We decide to take our hemi-swapped Jeep JLUR, our buggy, and a friend's Jeep LJ and rock crawl our way UP the trail known as Old Sluice on the Rubicon. The last thing we were expecting to come across was another Jeep Wrangler with jet skis strapped to its roof coming DOWN the very same trail.
Also, highly discourage trying to 4x4 jet skis on the Rubicon Trail. Pretty sure they got fined.

Just throwing this advice out there for those tense situations. In aviation there is a concept called “sterile cockpit.” During times of high stress flight situations the pilot needs a sterile cockpit where their passengers need to remain quiet to not overwhelm the pilot in command (PIC). Both the PIC and second in command (SIC) rehearse specific call outs and responses in order to avoid that tense situation you experienced on the trail. Kevin, if you are overwhelmed with too much verbal input, just call out “sterile cockpit.” That tells Brittany you need a breather to sort out a solution for the jam your in. Brittany, when you hear that call out - do a silent count to ten, and then ask Kevin “what do you need to know”. That shows mutual respect in problem resolution.

After watching years of you guys wheeling, I am sure that Brit is one of the best spotters I've seen in the field. She has an excellent grasp of how Stepchild moves over rocks and where it needs to be on a line. Probably should listen to what she says. Just sayin'...

The Old Sluice action was some of the most engaging wheeling video I've ever seen--great stuff.
Yeah I've done big sluice(impossible not to)but I haven't done little sluice or old sluice yet I don't think I'm ever gonna try.
The rest of the trail is just too darn fun to uh..... worry about breaking out there.

Super cool! Jet skis on roof. Toyota crunching. Jeep quits. Sounds like a blast! Keeps things interesting and fun! Never a dull moment with you guys. LOVE IT!!!!
Spotting is harder than it gets credit for, and I've had my share of those moments, so I feel ya! Watching that made me realize how important it is to have an understanding between the driver and spotter as to exactly what the driver needs - is the spotter relaying information the driver can't see or straight up telling the driver what to do? When that gets muddy, the spotter winds up tossing out a ton of info and suggestions, and the driver is left trying to sort it out (I've definitely been guilty of that myself!). When it gets super technical, I think it is easier for the spotter to just drive remotely by direction, but that requires two things from your driver - faith in that direction and forgiveness if it doesn't result in a flawless run. When my buddy and I ran the Rubicon in his TJ, the best thing he did was say that he knew I was giving him the best direction I could, and that if things went sideways, he wasn't going to hold it against me. Made it slightly less stressful. LOL
Britts saying she never seen anyone more stoked to be pulled off the trail... She was ecstatic as she was glad she met some folks that could. If they weren't subscribers to the Channel... You got a couple more.
So happy we are getting some wheeling videos again! That must mean you guys have settled into your new place. Will always support whatever you guys do, but I truly am here for the wheeling.

Hmm, I think SideChick might be slightly too light weight to really wrap those new and bigger tires around rocks.
On the other hand, the StepChild is making great mechanical grip with all it's weight and worn-in tires.
Still, due to weight differences and clearance, Sidechick seems to have more grip-per-weight of the two.
Will be interesting to see if they get less stiff and more grippy, as Brittany wears them in.
Because of you guys… I now own an 08 JKU with a 4” lift on 35” Chinese tires 🤣…. I literally only purchased this damm paper weight because i see how much fun you guys have while you’re on the trail!! I got a chance to take my rig to the oceano dunes in California and now I know why you guys smile the way you do!!!! Thank you guys for showing us how much fun off roading really is!!

I was about to stop drinking, but then I realized there really were jet skis on that there jeep. I know it is just a video, but I'm still scratching my head. Why wasn't anyone riding them? I mean, you're jeepin people after all. Anything is possible. With that said, time to refill my drink.

Old sluice is what got me into rock crawling as a kid. In the boy scouts we were hiking the rubicon trail during jeep jamboree. And mannnnnn I been hooked since I was 8.

FYI, on a TJ/LJ if you jump the starter you still need the key in the Start position for it to start, otherwise the injectors don't provide fuel
