Nice Video! I think the authorities should reconsider adjusting the potential bus services for the upcoming MRT rationalisation. More MRT lines do not mean that bus services should be withdrawn or shortened. I hope the authorities will truly listen to public opinions and not potentially neglect the needs of the people before making decisions.

I asked LTA staffs during TEL4 preview abt 167. They indeed heard abt the complaints. I added on how useful it is as shown in demand for 167 even at 30 min interval. Got a few times fill to brim until orchard road/newton from shenton way. They say will feedback to their colleagues from bus side so lets hope we will have gd news

Last time say not enough buses, they go buy a lot of buses like no one care. Now have so many buses already until not enough drivers then want to cut/amend bus services? For what? What kind of mentality some people up there have?

I swear that once a new MRT Stretch is announced, it will put the fear into the hearts of Bus Enthusiasts and Frequent Bus Commuters.

Getting the elephant out of the room first: I find it hard to believe that a lightning strike just happened to hit the component and cause a shut down. Plus, yesterday's news also revealed the component in question was also brand new, adding more egg to the proverbial face.
The reasonings given in the video is exactly what ticks me off about the rationalisation of bus routes. This "revenue first" mindset is the root of the problem, and no, building more MRT lines will not alleviate the problem. The NSL/TEL kind of already proves it's not working, mainly cause it's such a pain to commute between both lines, especially along the TEL2 (barring Upper Thomson). So if either line gets disrupted, you have to be very knowledgeable with bus routes in order to get to your destination. Otherwise, it will take ages for bus bridging services to be activated, and not all of us can afford private transports (personal cars or taxis). The real problem, as always, is in the leadership cadre. Unless something changes at the top (highly unlikely at the moment), nothing will change, to the detriment of everyone.

Some bus services shouldn't be withdrawn/shortened. More MRT Line does not mean all bus services will be gone. The Northeast is the most problem that they have, especially NEL. I am sure NEL is overcrowded. But thanks to 80 with a multiple transfers, Northeast residents can at least use a small transfers. 147 was the one that spared from NEL. It would had been better if 111 would also spared but end up Hougang Central instead of big loop. But too bad LTA had done worst.
The real question is, will there be more rationalisation? The answer is yes. HOWEVER, rationalise other bus service can also make them inconvenience, just to complain. So I will strongly encouraged LTA to plan carefully first as i was hoping it won't be worst in the future. However, LTA had done even worst. Look at TEL & DTL3 Rationalisation , they make them inconvenience all bcuz of money. LTA is really like $$$ just to have more MRT. Another thing is trains breakdown which is involved crowded. Which was why most of bus services are considered as alternative (parallel bus service if you count). If you cut the bus services that is backup the disruption, then gg for you. The commuters will sure mad at you and for those who say MRT is better, well yes because is faster and better train, but you will also need a bus. If you cut all bus services especially, "Pilot Bus Service", then more crowded in trains and which means peoplw cannot board a train and I may say, its considered as "Longest queue SG" Hate buses or not, you still need a backup svc. No bus service but FBB, means spamming buses is something wrong already. Before "someone" will give you answer, you think about it with your "helpful brain" first
In the future, I hope the LTA won't do worst again. Yes i know its impossible, but we don't want make commuters upset and then some "small tension". Hope it gets better if LTA wont messed up again and not just shortening/withdrawing, but also to improve on bus services to make them convenient

japan is one fine example of how focusing on trains and neglecting buses never ends well especially during service disruption
joban line disruption whole northeast cannot go to work on time alr
be it for network resilience or under normal circumstances

I don't mind if the LTA rationalises some services that duplicate the MRT. That being said, they need to make sure that MRT lines have enough capacity, 6 carriages ain't gonna cut it with a population of close to 6 mil

Hope That LTA Can Listen To Commuters Feedback Should Be Heard First Rather That Amend Those Bus Service Would Caused Controversy Not Benefit At All. This Incident Shows That Bus Still Plays An Important Role When It Happen So That Would Have Another Option To Take. So Forcing People Into MRT Of Those Affected Bus Route Is Not An Good Option, Yes MRT Is Quick But Not All Commuters Like. Cost Is An Issue Can Be Understandable But If Convenience That Bus Can Made Then It Should Retain And Made Adjustments The Timing Rather Than Amendments And Withdrawal.

171 impossible. Cuz of DTL and 960. Also 190 to Orchard, don't think really need 171. If you spared 171, then what's the point of having 190, 960, 961/961M & 972? You are just making 171 to duplicate 960, it's even worst

@@AmethystIsUnderrated506 is bcuz of express fares, not DTL Rationalisation, I guess I would just say "it went broke". I rather 506 to Buangkok since it's now in Northeast
162, it was shortened to Sin Ming (which we actually predict the future), until we realized that is literally not done. I think 162 is both duplicate & parallel. I wish could spared since 971 gone, but now look what LTA had done

I don't believe at all. If let's say if he stay near to mrt station then i got nothing to say but if he live quite far from nearest mrt station then how he go to mrt station? I think got someone send him there by car or something. A good transportation is based on air like planes road like buses taxi train like lrt mrt long haul passenger trains and ships or ferry. Without one of these is not a good transportation.
