Transit-only corridors pretty much become useless when non-buses use them. The main intention was to have buses use the corridor, but other vehicles, like cars and trucks, use them to get to Jurong, supposedly as a quicker route. Since there is not much enforcement of the bus-only rule, cars pretty much disregard potential consequences and use it anyway for "convenience's sake".
LTA and Traffic Police should install traffic cameras and issue out fines accordingly to those that violate the rules. Furthermorw, the roads that lead to the corridor should be marked as bus-only. Only with stricter measures would it deter cars and trucks from using the bus-only corridor.
I do believe the root cause is the Singaporean mindset of skirting road rules for convenience's sake. Take jaywalking for instance. It's definitely not legal and definitely not dafe to do, but people do it anyway because the alternative is a longer walk and a wait at the traffic stop. Likewise, people choose to skirt the rules since the alternative is a lengthier drive. Add the lack of enforcement of fines, and people will think it is okay to do it.
Tengah town is called car-free town for a reason yk
They have cars inside Tengah town yk
I like the Bus-Only.
Its a step in the right direction with
Walk , Cylce. public Transport
Green city , car-lite.
However needa enforce it lorh.
Traffic cams etc.
Honestly the LTA’s mistake was not introducing Tengah Link as a Bus Only road from the get-go. obviously had to be done since Tengah Drive wasn’t ready, but once you give drivers the option to use the road it’s not going to just disappear. That along with the length of Tengah Link means that LTA probably doesn’t care enough to enforce it the same way like Loyang, Bencoolen and Lorong Chuan, at least not yet. No point removing it though imo, now that the paint and signs are already there might as well leave it until LTA decides to start enforcing the law in the future
I think LTA and MOT should put some traffic cameras there and restrict all vehicles except buses and construction vehicles that need to repair any fault along the corridor
Maybe the motorists entered the TPC cause they saw the construction vehicles entering
Nice Video! I think removing the transit corridor at Tengah would be better because it seems useless since some drivers just ignore the sign and continue to use the transit corridor.
Tengah is still at its early stages therefore not many public bus services have been introduced yet. I believe more buses will utilise that road n subsequently stricter enforcement will happen once things are more ’formalised’
Yes i hope so
Would love to see the car-lite plans
Tengah Link itself is good, but LTA ruined everything by making it a bus only road
Using Tengah Drive may cause traffic if Tengah Link is bus only corridor. Should make it that cars can use the corridor
Mind as well remove this bus only corridor. And Tengah Drive is big enough for the traffic tbh
Feedback to LTA. So they will hear from us
Poorly designed and under-utilised, used only for 992 to access Tengah.
& 870
@@TIB1234T Sorry i forgot to mention 870.
Some motorists can’t understand English
Why study so smart and make English our primary language?
Or maybe they ignore the signs and enter
@@aehighfmcolinchinno cops or CCTVs so they heck care.
