I have been an atheist since a kid, i hated God, i would blaspheme and curse constantly.. into my teenage years due to my lack of structure, lack of faith i was so depressed and i thought life was meaningless. So i allowed myself to give in to all my temptations and passions. I was groomed into being a homosexual and then I became transgender, i lived like this for a few years, i was in hrt for 1 year trying to be a perversion of a women. I ended up detransitioning but for a time i remained a homosexual. Out of this i was led to the influences of Communism, I began to give myself to this movement, i treated it like a religion, yet the void came back because transgenderism, homosexuality, communism/politics, nothing could fill the void which was lacking the love of God.
My whole life i learnt to indulge in my sin, my passions and temptations. Orthodoxy was so foreign to me, this strictness, the seriousness of faith and its true belief in the trinity, its defence and all its teachings was completely opposite to how i was raised.. i entered this faith full of myself, full or veinglory and pride.. i was immediately humbled. I have been trialled and challenging by God, I've been in a constant battle with my old self, with my sins. This is as deep as i can go in a youtube comment but if anyone sees this, please pray for me. Lord have mercy on us all.
A lot of people need that strictness and structure so badly but dont realize it.there are so many ways a person could live these days but most are awful imo

I've been listening to a Protestant pastor (Revolations of Jesus Christ) and he also called out the E.T. character as a demon.
I never noticed this before. Pop culture is something that all Christians should avoid. The entertainment industry is there to distract us from seeking and following Jesus Christ.
This is a really amazing culture. The values determine the outcome.
Here we are over 40 years later. The culture addressed in this talk seems downright tame compared to our world today.
At 70 I don't know the world anymore and as a young man I had my moments, but growing up in the late fifties and early sixties I don't suppose I stood much of a chance of avoiding the then new and present dangers of modern life. How life was then and how it is now is so far apart it defies any thoughts of what society might become. We are so much in the grip of satanic influence and don't see how it can be reversed any time soon yet hope that things will eventually change for the better. I think this is Gold and hope at least some young people may listen to it and appreciate it's value even though it may be too much to ask.

I just listened to this today, October 10, 2023 and this talk could have been giving last night. It is soo relevant. What I mean are the comments about Israel and people being more and more distracted with games and fantasy. I have believed for a while that Fr Saraphim is a saint, even if controversial. It is very relatable.

Wow.... Listening to this as a former Calvinist and typical "Evangelical" it was so refreshing to hear someone mention the influence of the world and the Principalities and powers behind it. This is all but never talked about in Protestant churches, at least where I have went. When Fr. Seraphim mentioned how the world has become too "sophisticated" as has the church it really hit home. I have thought this so many times, I thought I was the only one that felt that way. Great teaching!

One of his spiritual sons wrote his biography and included accounts of attending his lectures. Specifically, he gave a lecture at the University of Santa Cruz to the World Religions class in which said spiritual son met him for the first time. The students who became orthodox turned the lecture into a book called “God’s Revelation to the Human Heart”. The writer of the biography is named Heiromonk Damascene and is the Abbot of St Herman’s Monastery

I was just watching a video on “intro into orthodoxy” and they brought up Seraphim Rose and said he was in Northern California and I’m from Northern California so I was curious and it turns out his Monastery is 30 minutes away if that from where I am from. Interesting how small the world is.

That's actually the truth about fun. I can not come to a place and "do" aimed targeted fun, it comes more unwittingly from doing a good thing. I dont think so
It isn't that "every other branch/denomination is hell-bound". Christ didn't come to save a branch or denomination from hell. He came to save people from their sins. The Church is the Body of Christ. There has only ever been One Church. "Denominations and Branches" are a man-made division. But the One Body of Christ still exists today, as it has from the beginning.

@mikeyvangelism I have no ability or right to either say that, or to oppose that. Only God can determine whom He will save, and who will remain condemned in their sin. The Full Gospel of salvation is found only within the Orthodox Church. All other "denominations" have been, at the very least, greatly watered down, and are therefore not part of the Church. However, God is a merciful and loving God. Should He choose to save someone, who through no fault of their own is not a part of the Orthodox Church, He will certainly do that. This is why we pray for the salvation of ourselves and others; because we do not know whom God will save.
There's a well known saying in the Orthodox Church (I believe it was by Fr. Alexander Schmemann) which is, "We know where the Holy Spirit IS (i.e. the Orthodox Church), but we cannot say where He ISN'T." So we pray for all, knowing that God is a merciful God.
We DO boldly, and unashamedly, teach that the Holy Orthodox Church is the One and Only Church that Christ brought, and was taught and spread by His Apostles. But this does not negate the fact that God will save whom He will.

When someone is willfully blind, brazen dismissal of necessary inferences is not only possible, but a matter of course.
It wasn't just that the curtain temple tore. The Talmud records that during the Day of Atonement, they had a tradition of tying a crimson strip of wool to the head of goat which they released, and there was an omen that indicated whether or not their sacrifices were accepted by God and their sins forgiven: the crimson ribbon would turn white. The Talmud records that during the tenure of a high priest called "Simon the Righteous" (Shimon HaTzaddik) this omen consistently happened:
From the Talmud, Yoma 39a:15 (with intercalated explanations in English)
תָּנוּ רַבָּנַן: אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה שֶׁשִּׁמֵּשׁ שִׁמְעוֹן הַצַּדִּיק, הָיָה גּוֹרָל עוֹלֶה בְּיָמִין. מִכָּאן וְאֵילָךְ, פְּעָמִים עוֹלֶה בְּיָמִין פְּעָמִים עוֹלֶה בִּשְׂמֹאל. וְהָיָה לָשׁוֹן שֶׁל זְהוֹרִית מַלְבִּין. מִכָּאן וְאֵילָךְ, פְּעָמִים מַלְבִּין פְּעָמִים אֵינוֹ מַלְבִּין. וְהָיָה נֵר מַעֲרָבִי דּוֹלֵק. מִכָּאן וְאֵילָךְ, פְּעָמִים דּוֹלֵק פְּעָמִים כָּבֶה.§
The Sages taught: During all forty years that Shimon HaTzaddik served as High Priest, the lot for God arose in the right hand. From then onward, sometimes it arose in the right hand and sometimes it arose in the left hand. Furthermore, during his tenure as High Priest, the strip of crimson wool that was tied to the head of the goat that was sent to Azazel turned white, indicating that the sins of the people had been forgiven, as it is written: “Though your sins be as crimson, they shall be white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). From then onward, it sometimes turned white and sometimes it did not turn white. Furthermore, the western lamp of the candelabrum would burn continuously as a sign that God’s presence rested upon the nation. From then onward, it sometimes burned and sometimes it went out.
There were several other omens they looked for as indications that God accepted their atonement, as mentioned above: some sort of picking lots at random to see if the marked one ended up in the right hand of the high priest, and also the western lamp burning continuously.
Yet the Talmud indicates that for the 40 years prior to the destruction of the Temple (the period following the crucifixion of Jesus), the crimson wool on the scapegoat never again turn white, nor did the several other omens of successful atonement ever again indicate that God accepted their atonement:

The Sages taught: During the tenure of Shimon HaTzaddik, the lot for God always arose in the High Priest’s right hand; after his death, it occurred only occasionally; but during the forty years prior to the destruction of the Second Temple, the lot for God did not arise in the High Priest’s right hand at all. Think about this.
Caiaphas (and the other plotters) had Jesus crucified, then the Temple curtain tore, and then for the next 40 years until the Temple was destroyed, the very omens that they looked to as confirmation that God accepted their sacrificial atonements stoped indicating that their atonements were accepted. That must be a grim sign to behold. You'd think that after seeing all this, he would think back to that moment when he spoke prophecy, and realize how badly he misinterpreted his own prophecy.
John 11:45-53
[Preceding context: Jesus had just raised Lazarus from the dead.] 45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him, 46 but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council and said, “What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50 Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they made plans to put him to death.

If you were the high priest, how would you rationalize this? You couldn't. It would simply be denial, especially in light of all the signs that Jesus had performed. God gave Jesus as the atonement for our sins, and no other way was acceptable to him after Jesus made his sacrifice, offering his own blood on the cross. Not only did the Temple curtain tear, but the omens never again indicated that their sacrifices effected any sort of successful atonement from that time on to the point when the Temple was destroyed.
However, even if Caiaphas was stiff-necked to the very end, not all the members of the Sanhedrin were that way. One extremely prominent member of the Sanhedrin, Menachem, who co-led the Sanhedrin with Hillel (you can't get more prominent than that!), abandoned the Sanhedrin to become a believer and follower of Jesus, and he took 80 pairs of disciples with him. Menachem even has a mention in the New Testament: he is mentioned in Acts 13:1 as "Manaen", who was a friend of Herod. The fact that he knew Herod and was a friend of Herod from childhood and had the gift of prophecy were apparently his identifiers.
Dr. Joseph Shulam explains some of what other ancient sources says about this Menachem and what we can infer from this ancient evidence.

It seemed that Menachem confronted what happened, and simply could not rationalize what happened in the Temple after Christ died, and actually did the hardest thing: abandoned his high position as a leader of the Sanhedrin to become a follower of Jesus.
I'm sure Caiaphas witnessed Menachem abandoning his secure and socially prominent position as the co-leader of the Sanhedrin. I'm sure there were serious and impassioned debates in the Sanhedrin over this. And given that Menachem led 80 pairs of disciples with him to become believers in Jesus, I'm sure he made a spirited defense of Jesus as the Messiah, with all the reasoning and evidence he could muster, and evangelized everyone in his hearing. By the time all that was done, Caiaphas had absolutely no good rationalization.

There should be no icon of Seraphim Rose. He is not yet canonized as a saint. That is clearly wrong in the eyes of the church
The Church always has icons preceding official canonization. Lay veneration precedes official glorification.
Hesychasm, stillness and silence.
And the so called monks have made it a complicated matter by implementing erronous techniques.
Be still and be silent 🤫 😌
Yet the monks instruct to endlessly recite the Jesus Prayer, in synchronization with rhythmic breathing- and the head has to be positioned in a certain way, and the focus has to be directed toward the heart
And through these practices they think they will enter into divine stillness and silence... ???
Had they truly entered into divine silence, then they would have harvested the fruit of the Spirit- love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentlness and self control.
The first 2 being cheif: love and joy.
But hardly ever is their a joyous saint... no. Orthodoxy is full of sad saints- too proud to even crack a smile...
Real Hesychasm (silence and stillness), requires no technique, and is ever available to mankind. The opportunity to rest in divine silence and stillness is a gift bestowed upon mankind from God. Instead of gratitude 🙏 the gift is squandered with the noise and the restlessness of fruitless techniques that Jesus never taught...
And all this vain effort merely detracts from the grace of silence and stillness.
Pitiful is the man who has not found rest.
These so called techniques at best are distractions from Hesychasm; but at worst the techniques are seductions and temptations that ought to be overcome.
May the communion of the Trinity be with you all. And may your Souls be Joyous in the presence of the Holy Spirit- its presence cannot be artificially induced with robotic techniques. Neither can transcendental and spiritual states be artificially induced in the same manner.
But rather approach God humbly in prayer 🙏 with a genuine heart full of faith in communion with God.
Approach Prayer truthfully,
You dont know how to do it!
Dont Approach Hesychasm full of pride because you have some special techniques! Lest you be seduced.
Return and Repent,
Be still and know
That i am God.
There is nothing "advanced" about Hesychasm... why do the religious gatekeepers want to pedestalize hesychasm as something unapproachable to the lay person?
As he said "leave Hesychasm and advanced forms of prayer to those who can receive them"
Yet there is nothing more simple than being still and silent- it requires no effort, it is as easy and as simple as going to sleep.
Just as the body demands sleep,
The soul demamds Hesychasm.
But rhe gatekeepers have conflated the definition of Hesychasm with so called advanced techniques which arent Hesychasm. In most cases these so called "advanced" techniques dont help the soul in the way towards silence but rather aids the mind in the development of pride and false sense of piety. The usage of the word "advance" tells you everything you need to know!
Saying the Jesus prayer 1000 times a day doesn't make a person pious. A parrot can be taught that, is the parrot now pious?
Hesychasm isnt reserved for the advanced- it is a gift of God for all mankind. Which reuires norhing other than to be silent and still. How are we even confused by this? And who gave these priests the right to tell you that you are restricted from going inward, into the silence and stillness of the Soul? They just dont want you to connect with God direct? If you did then you would be content with God.
It is becoming ever more clear why Jesus rebelled against the leaders of the Jewish religious institution-
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to -Matt 23:13
