Casual, feminine, artsy I also created 5 deal breakers in relation to my clothes 1. Natural fibers 2. Good quality 3. Non itchy 4. Fits well 5. Practical for lifestyle
Allison Bornstein and the 3 word method are brilliant. As a personal stylist, I had a pretty good handle on my style yet it took me about 3 weeks to nail my 3 words down - they are classic, elegant, & sophisticated. It really helped me to fine tune my style; now that I'm applying these words I find that I'm experimenting more with my style in a completely different way and I love it! 😃
Oh my gosh I love all of this! Truly just this three word method has helped me buy smarter and I've already started to see my outfits change because of them. Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment ❤️
Your video is the best out there to help people understand the 3 word method. Thank you 😊 My and I’m still working on mine is •Practical • Timeless •Mystical I wear lots of black, and that’s exactly where I feel comfortable. I been wearing the same cloths since teen and I don’t think I’ll ever dress differently and when I do I feel so uncomfortable as I’m wearing a costume. So yes, black black all the way!!
Right!! And sometimes people say theirs and I'm thinking "Wow I love that! Maybe that's my style too!" It's also fun picturing what theirs could be like!
Versatile, soft, cozy. I'm retired. I may be cleaning, working out, shopping, or eating lunch with a friend. I so like dark colors because I am blonde. But never harsh. But I am drawn to soft color. And I am a homebody.
@@terrypurvis2535 I sent my friend Sydnie some suggestions for her 3 words and this morning we were talking about how that could be a fun series. I'll be sure to include yours if I go through with it! I think it would be a lot of fun 🥰
Thank you! I appreciate this exercise - and Allison Bornstein for her genius! I struggled A LOT with my fashion POV for this stage of my life, but I feel that "Effortless, 70's Boho and Grateful" most align with who I am.
I think my immediate first 3 words are comfortable, feminine, confident. Im definitely going to be thinking about it more and maybe theyll change! This is really fun to figure out
First off, a big big thank you for your "honest" content, it is very "helpful" and brings so much "excitement"!!! That's there my three words for you! Now, I'm a man just turned 50 and I felt lost for style. This method helped me (re)define my style compass as: "comfortable, mature, happy". Now, I use each word as an umbrella to organise my thoughts about style. For example under "comfortable" I placed: "functional, elastic, soft, minimal, relaxed, unlayered, flowy, knit, effortless, undone, versatile etc". Under "mature": "refined, well made, luxurious, bespoke, flawless, expensive, quality, select pieces, timeless, sleek etc" and finally, "happy": "not serious, not one-dimensional, playful elements, a bit sexy, unexpected combinations, round not angular, lively, not monochromatic, not formal, mix and match, textured etc".
Oh I love this so much! You've really put in so much thoughtful work to your words and I'm so pleased to hear it's already starting to pay off! Excited for all of us to have a better understanding of ourselves and our style (how we want to show up in the world) for years to come!
Just like you Amanda I came up with 3 words to identify my style fashion, I tweeked them today after watching Allison's video and yours. My 3 words are: 1- 1-Textured-layered because of my love for fabrics and patterns that speak to me. I take pride in my creativity, versatility and my roots 🌍 2-Timeless because of my appreciation for minimal and classic style that are priceless and timeless ⏳️ 3-Authentic because I want to honor my essence as a romantic by letting my curves swerve. I want to feel genuinely and authentically me in everything that I wear ♾️
Oh my goodness well done!! Seems like you've really nailed down the perfect words for you! Love how much intention and research you've done in this process 🥰🤍 Thanks for such a thoughtful comment!
Comfortable, feminine and inspired are my 3 words. I'm Indian and an artist so I also looove incorporating ethnic designs and patterns with my everyday wardrobe. I'm so excited to explore my style further! ❤
I was watching Alyssa Beltempo today and she made mentioned of you and Allison. These videos are so on time today because I literally came up with my three words last week. I am so excited about my new fashion journey moving forward. Thank you for this video! I need to get my hands on that book asap 😊
Oh my goodness WHATTT! I love Alyssa! 🥹😭😭 That is wild to me she's one of my TH-cam crushes! So happy you enjoyed it love. It's honestly changed the way I think about my wardrobe and creating my collection. All the best with yours!!
Hi Amanda thank you for making this video - it was such a fun activity and a necessary one ! The first task of laying out what you wear the most made it clear to me what I really look like ? ( how bizarre to get this different POV) I realised I have been classing everything i own as my personal style and that's simply not true! This was a wake up call to me for sure. My first word : Minimalistic ( a word id never thought id describe my style as but realised during this task - eye opening . Purely because of how many clothes i own i didn't realise i don't wear a lot of ) My second : Fitted ( I threw my own word into this because tailored made my style sound less casual than it is , i own one blazer but 3 bomber jackets and like to wear form fitted tshirts under these, i also wanted a word that described the cut of my clothes im careful to wear tight on top and baggy on the bottom to suit my body shape) lastly , third word : Quirky ( accessories, shoes, jackets , bags is where my playfulness and personality comes out - i love a silver bag i bought recently , i have a few unique dangly earrings and some trainers that arent common) Thanks again for simplifying the the three word method !!🥰
Oh I love how much thought you've put into this Bonnie! I think many roads lead us to finding our personal style but personally I've found this practice to be very helpful in making informed decisions when shopping. And then ultimately building the capsule wardrobe of my dreams! I love your words!
Textured, Timeless, Serene. I want my clothes to feel wonderful to touch, and against my skin, and I also don't want to be fussing with them all the time, so nothing cropped or clingy.
Effortless, polished, and feminine -- Truly a fantastic and insightful video! I've been dabbling in figuring out what my personal style is for a while now (I've always felt I had 4 different styles for different moods, so it's been difficult) but this technique helped me realize how to make all four more cohesive together. Can't wait to watch more of your style content! I'm obsessed!
Feminine, Textured & Romantic are mine. I want to add more texture to my looks with layering, jewelery and accessories. This was so helpful and informative. Thanks!
@ thank you!! I was thinking to change strong for fearless, but that’s more my personality than my personal style! 😂 I really want to start building a new capsule wardrobe after loosing lots of weight and moving into a new chapter of life- think it’s time for a hard reset x
Sporty, Feminine, & Svelte. After so many videos I finally did the exercise and you are so spot on. I can feel my wardrobe & closet vibes much clearer by crafting my 3 style words. Thank u and AB!🎉
Eclectic, ethereal and fairy-like I was debating between mystical and playful since I want to feel like a fairy in clothes I wear. I think the word fairy-like combines those two nicely ☺
@@AmandaWeldon I have took a lot inspiration from cottage core bohemian style and different harajuku styles (in example, mori kei, fairy kei and sweet lolita) 😊 And I love colors 🎨
Oversized, Editorial, Fun ☺️ My goal is to feel like a character from The Devil Wears Prada while also wearing more random novelty pieces, like my dad jackets or Barbie earrings ♥️

You know what's weird. We moved to NY in my early 20s and worked there for the next 10 years. After that I have moved to so many countries and cities but I guess NY stayed 😊 I hadn't thought of NY as my inspiration.
My 3 words is Tailored, Old europe and Quirky .... so if I look like an eccentric Lady in her old english Manor in the countryside that could only afford to keep the stable boy as an employee I achieved my look! LOL so think English equestrian style from the 1940s with a dash of italian exuberance
I COULD NOT LOVE THIS MORE!!! Also Valerie I can already tell you have such a fun personality. Truly keep being you because all of this sounds like someone who loves life and is confident in who they are ❤ Love it!
Cozy might mean confident to you. If you’re comfortable your confidant. You can be comfortable and confident in tight cloths. I wouldn’t be but some people could feel awkward in loser cloths. It’s a lot to think about! Thank you.
I am lost too….!!! This video inspired me but I am struggling to identify my 3 words, specially now that I am working from home and my “practical” clothes changed…. I used to have a clear picture when I was working in an office, but now, I can be in pajamas all day and that is messing with my mood😢
Lets see.. Word #1. Comfortable. Jeans. T-shirt. Jacket. I've got to feel physically good in my clothes before anything else and that's definitely reflected in my current closet. #2 Thematic is totally new to but I think it fits, I love a good recurring theme/pattern. All of my favorite styles, regardless of whether I'd actually wear them, are super hardcore themed. Goth, Lolita, steampunk, all styles that are so themed they're almost costume-y. I used to say whimsical but I'm realizing that's because to me, really leaning into a theme *is* whimsical but whimsicality(?) as a style alone feels more "fantasy" based which isn't really me. #3 now this is where im really struggling. Authentic, confident, quirky, and playful all kinda feel right..ugh. At the end of the day I just know that I want Main Character Energy. I think I'll come back to this. Definitely subscribing tho.
I'm 68 and I am a competitive/ performance dancer.I have different wardrobes for each genre of dance( latin, countr, swing)So I get to be many different" identities" if you will😊
