Single Post Lift Assembly BY YOURSELF (no forklift!) - BEST Car Lift Small Shop - Solve Fix Build

- On this episode of Solve Fix Build I take delivery and assemble an 1800 lb single post left. Assembling a car lift by yourself can be a daunting task, especially if you don't have a forklift or a means to get it off a truck. In my case, I couldn't do lift gate delivery, so I went to the shipping terminal and they used a forklift to drop the pallet in a U-Haul trailer I rented. I towed it home, then offloaded it from the trailer with an engine crane. I used a chain hoist to raise the column and bolted the rest together.
I still need to build adapters for my X-frame Impala, but this lift is portable and so far I am quite pleased with its construction. I've done a few test lifts and it can easily pick up the Impala, but I'll need adapters to make it stable.
Hope you find this video helpful and thanks for watching!
Oh cool. So just add a beam to my garage. lol
great job getting it out and in garage
I’ve just learned that these single post lifts even exist. Do you have any info as to where you got this from? Thanks for taking the time to show the process!
I believe it was JMC Auto Equip. I bought my prior lift from ASE Deals.
@@SolveFixBuild thank you!!
@@MattPro806 no problem 😉
You forgot the flexural formula, sigma = - My / I , for full disclosure.
Did you ever make a part 2 video?
Hi there. Yes here is the video where I completed the frame adapters. th-cam.com/video/-h_48irNr6A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DpEvVWc0x3f1xt73
man that is B.A. cool lift. i rather have this than a two post. because of the drilling and it mobility. cool video
The mobility has been very handy. I am about to do suspension on my C10 and I'll be able to flip the lift around and drive the truck in on the other side once I push my table saw back.
Well.... it ain't going to be easy.... Receiving my single post next week. Probably will hire a forklift for an hour...
You won't hire it for an hour. They don"t rent that way. Just say'in
This was great. I too had a challenge getting it unloaded. Shipping frame was trashed on one end but protected the lift. What was the actual height of the lift after assembly? I have found dimensions but I would like to know what you ended up with. I did not measure my work area height first :-).
It’s about 103.5” (2629 mm) without the pallet jack elevated, flat on the floor.
How much of the floor does the lift take up and how high are your ceilings. I got a two car garage with a single car door. I’m gonna put a steal building up in a few years so doing a lot to the current garage is out of the question. Building a k5 and a 70 Monte
My ceilings are 10 ft. I selected this lift exactly for that reason. The floor space is nearly equivalent to a pallet jack, perhaps a little wider and longer. It extends to nearly the other side of the Impala. My car is lowered and I have about 4" of ground clearance and it is a little tight but I can slip it under the car from the side. They make two versions of this lift, one low profile and one not - this is the low profile model.
What was the torque spec on the base and carriage bolts??
No torque specs (!). All of the bolts have lock washers. Here is the install manual: www.asedeals.com/pdfs/MSC-6k-Car-Lift-manual.pdf
I have a brand new one, still in the original crate.. For sale at a good price.. HOA will not let me install it.. Hit me for a good quote??
It technically would not require “installation”. So…
where ya at?
