This is wonderful to see. My late father built many kit and scratch built models. His standard mechanism was a X04 Or Airfix 1001 with five pole armature and 40-1 gears. However he used some Sharps in smaller locos. I find these run hot. good solid engineering is becoming rare so it's great to see the skills ongoing.
