An excellent little video Chris. I really need to spend more time learning how to draw things up, since, like you, I saw the potential of 3D printing and purchased a Saturn 2 last year, oddly enough, most of the parts I've printed are parts for the locomotives I've built from kits, or restored! I'm 99% sure where that D20 came from, and will probably get one from the same source eventually, good to know some of its limitations...
Glad you like the video Stan. As you have probably found, there are loads of video tutorials on TH-cam and the three I featured on this video are the ones I made most use of. You've already made great headway if you have printed parts for your own locomotive kits. Good luck with the D20. You may have more success than I did. Incidentally, Tony Wright tells me that LNER D20s didn't have a front number plate. Mine does!
@@chriswalsh9962 Thanks Chris I certainly will be referring to those video's even tho my I've found Siemens Solid edge an easier package ( kind of) to Autodesk Fusion! Ya - I hear interesting tales about kits from that source, so am apprehensive to say the least - that being said a 2nd hand copy of the kit recently listed didnt last very long so there are plenty who will give it a go. Somehow I think its unlikely I'll be in a position to get the DJH kit so Ace it will be. there's also a couple of 2nd hand models up for sale at present - both need work but look like they have potential. Of course Tony is correct, the LNER put its front loco number on the buffer beam, but I have seen photos taken c1949-51 where hybrid numbering still exists ( There's a nice pic of on rail-online showing a J39 with BR smokebox and shed plate, BR number in LNER font on the cab-side and LNER on the tender so interesting choices available)
