I would appreciate handtrap floodgates way more if they had something like "Damage your opponent takes until the end of your next turn is halved" or something so that waiting them out and ceding first turn advantage (already a huge offering) was viable if you got turnskipped by them instead of your opponent dropping Droll or Shifter and effectively just FTKing you. While playing back into a fully established board with very little life at that point would be rough, it'd feel at lot better to at least have a chance at a comeback rather than the cards being so binary in that they either win you the game on the spot or do basically nothing.

Gamma in response to shifter is always a F u call to the opponent and they insta scoop in master duel, I wonder if that happened in tcg.
To be honest gamma was not only a toxic response to Dimension Shifter, but to a variety of other hand traps that just turned games into non-games after you resolve it on your first turn and get a free synchro 8 just for your opponent to stop you from interacting
Shifter is an answer to a problem they created. Decks now have so much gas that after using the card they have a grave effect as well that also pluses you (dlink). To fight something so bs you need something as strong as shifter to stop them. Also from experience people who hate shifter the most seems to be combo players understandably but they weren’t exactly planning to let me play the game either so
it's funny isn't how dimension shifter hurts most decks equally but things like evenly, ash, imperm only tend to truly hurt rogue and lower but these cards never get bought up.

@@PhyYuGiOh are you crazy d-link isn't even close to the best deck and i'm sorry it people aren't willing to play the out to d-link then thats why there losing. TCOBO + necrovalley or similar cards or the shadow mirror, kaiju's, sphere mode, super poly i can continue with the out to d-link. lets also not forget d-link is still stopped by a well timed nibiru, ash or imperm
Idk what this is all about. In tbe 1st 2 games shown all I saw was a clear skill issue and the dude didnt draw the out

I think competitive yugioh suffers most at the lower levels. I've moved over to MD last year, and if there is a game I don't want to play, I can jump out and back in until I do. In TCG, I would have spent more money on a deck, drive to a venue, and then spend 3-4 hours of Swiss against Konami's latest cash grab and I just have to put up with it or leave and waste my time. These decks still exist in Master Duel, but I don't feel like I am handcuffed into playing a series of games I don't want to be in as I would at locals or YCS
This is so facts. You can't bring casual decks to locals and expect to walk away with more than 1 win lol. I don't mean bad decks either but just powercrept archetypes that can't keep up.
@itzskyfallgaming7543 I used to joke with friends that legacy support was created because Konami wanted to stop people from throwing their powercrept decks in the garbage
the problem is not shifter, is that the fucking top meta deck has a stupid spell that can special from gy or banish and, a walking floodgate, and a guy who specials on standby to fuck the normal summon

Yeah, but sometimes you might need something broken to fight something broken, and we made the superbug that we have to deal with
it's the tops meta players lack of desire to change there deck to combat all they rather combat the best decks and complain about the rest lets be honest mystic hurt who the most the top deck because they didn't play removal, skill drain, TCOBO, many other cards are exactly the same. another example simorgh bird of sovereignty absolutely fine the actually problem cards stormwinds eventually got banned. it's almost like everytime a card pops up that helps a lesser deck win the response is either ban it or ban the deck.

Shifter won’t be hit. It’s getting a reprint in Rarity collection. Konami wouldn’t ban it then just reprint it

Using as example a guy that twit's on ban list that want invoker back and simorgh back, no touch enough in kashtira, and also putting sacred tree back to tree after one banlist, and also having glow-up pulp at fucking 3 when we have naturia beast in the game, makes kinda losing credibility on the argument...
To be honest through, Sacred Tree was killed for the crime of being in a Runick Deck
Konami needs to hit shifter to 1 or ban completely. Remember guys even when kash gets hit there is a deck called floowandereeze still going around.
Shifter was definitely abused in thunderdragon on release. Shifter plus solar man going first was full combo. It also didn't care about banishing any of its cards aside from maybe the fusion spell. Nobody really cared though because there was still 3 other decks just as strong as it to complain about. After TOSS format though it did fall off the radar. Shifter can only be abused in decks that can allow it. After Kashtira gets demolished on the banlist, I'm willing to bet it falls off again. People will only complain about it when it's in a tier 1 deck.

For me, the nicest and most playable handtrap there is is Droll. Since I mostly play infernoids, I don’t need to draw cards so I’m not that affected. But, D shifter is a fucking ass whooper since I can’t use reasoning, can’t use grass, can’t use decatron or any of my infernoids at all. Because of this, I moved on to tear and kash until MD release snake eyes into the game.

In any sane game shifter wouldn't even be a good card.
the true solution no yugioh player wants to accept: ban all floodgates. "but they are needed to stop/sliw down/counter X" well, lower the power ceiling of an deck that ia so busted only a floodgate can stpp them. "but thats so many decks, you can't do that" yes you can.
"but my deck will be unplayable then" so be it. if your oet deck can only exist with 12 floodgates in it, youre jsut coping anyway. you're just playing floodgates with random bad cards; not ab actual deck. "but variety" you know what improves variety? lowering the power ceiling so that the other, older or janky 200+ archetypes in this game can be played again.
Except "ban all floodgates" is an awful way to go about fixing the game.
Card design is the issue. Ygo is in an infinite loop of making strong cards to power creep the previous good cards and floodgates and blowout cards to keep those good cards in check.
Ban all floodgates is just a cope way to say you don't like traps because even if the format was slower and had a lower power ceiling people would still complain that traps are too good (I mean they literally printed Jinzo because of this in like 2004/5)
Ok ban all omni-negates along with floodgates and you got a deal.
I think kunami and the yugioh company shot themselves in the foot with all these different special summons from the extra deck and from the normal deck. I think the only way to really save the game is put a limit per turn on Special summons.
Lets turn the tcg and ocg into master duel but it's a best of three without a side deck build you deck to counter the vast majority of opponents that would solve a lot of issues.
nah just means people will brick more often. any real solution is more complex than one simple change.

@@xgaming6609 it was a bad example. lets just put it this way ash, imperm, evenly are getting worse and worse at combating new strategies because they keep getting stronger and stronger however they wreck rogue and lower strategies because they have a card that needs to activate or a board that needs to stick
