However, an entire political campaign was started/based on a "LIE" by taking a soundbite from a video and removing the first xx seconds from it, so if making a statement, make sure you always capture and save it's complete context in video format ( I still cannot believe how many people believe such types of "LIE's" and, when they realize it .... keep following along and/or keep trusting the person whom tricked them)

Can I ask do you find it more difficult to learn at you get older? Somebody told me knowledge sort of crystallizes around 30 and that scared me so bad. I haven’t graduated college and I don’t have any real skills. I’m 27. I’m wondering if it’s too late for me to learn something complex
@@Ryan-ze9fz Not too late at all! And your worry is completely normal. Look up 'growth mindset' and neuroplasticity. The brain is much more malleable than we've generally thought. Listen to that call, my friend. Explore it! Wishing you well!

Im about half way through The Gulag Archipelago and I cannot believe that, after six years of secondary education and five years of higher education, this book has never appeared on any reading list I was assigned
I could never finish it. It is horrifying. Also, fun fact: in Russian many people are aware of the book and have read it (that I have met)

it BAFFLES me still how Peterson is able to respond so quickly and eloquently to such complex questions. I'm very grateful that I can watch this lecture and Q&A online for free.
I think he uses too much stock footage and convolutes his replies to muddy up the original question at times. But yes, his verbal fluency is impressive.
The public school system could be replaced with TH-cam.
He thinks about his immediate response to the question, then works his justification in after with anecdotal thoughts and experimental data. He throws in advice and historical context into his justification. His formula for answers it pretty straightforward.

I was able to muster through college by just assuming my lecturers had an agenda.
It’s not fair to even think like that. Jordan is the cream of the crop, one in a million. This is one of the issues with the internet, we begin to think the extraordinary should be the norm. No. It’s like saying, if Tom Osborne was my football coach, I would have been great. No you wouldn’t have. Bc it’s your attitude holding you back, not the quality of leaders in your life.

Best overall questions I've seen so far posed to JP. The formal questions from the moderator were all outstanding. I was interested in hearing his opinion on each of those topics prior to this, so that was awesome.
The audience had legitimate questions too. All polite, no nonsense, and very respectful. *So shoutout to the Lafayette auidence for showing some class.*

I always like to read the comments before watching the video, and as I read your comment, I was a bit skeptical (I've watched a lot of JP videos). However, after watching the video I completely agree with you. The questions were detailed and nuanced and tackled important issues. JP also seemed to go into places with his answers that were deeper than previous conversations.
Yeah. I was amazed to hear the questions.
After hearing that biography introduction. It's clear JP has only one "measly" item left on his bucket list.

Two and half hours of JBP is like a time warp, its over before you know it. JBP is more interesting, engaging, and even more entertaining than anything Hollywood puts out of late. Wisdom, truth, pursuit of truth... its just that damn good!
The young moderator did a terrific job and Peterson was wonderful as always. Fantastic role model for young adults. Pity more academics don't follow suit.

One who is truly confident in their abilities can acknowledge their limitations, without embarrassment.
I had a friend who would dish up an answer for any question regardless of his understanding of the subject matter. I no longer believe anything he sais on face value about any in depth subject. He would try to convey that he was knowledgeable rather than take the time to become knowledgeable and it had become quite obvious.
I find that difficult to believe, it was more likely a topic he wished to avoid. Bernays was Freud's nephew and probably considered the father of the psychology of marketing. But that would be dicey listening to him tie that philosophy into the xtian framework..ethic notwithstanding.
I'd love to hear a radical leftist describe the following "If you were in a debate, and your goal was to prove that something that was truly correct, was in fact true. What criteria would it require to prove that theory is true to yourself?". If it's anything other than providing factual evidence based on statistical analysis, and providing that the analysis was taken in the most credibal way and further more developing a checks and balances system against small human error and how that would effect that statistics realistically... then providing that information to the listener and have them debate it, and offer no holes in your argument. If they can't disprove the evidence, or provide more reasonable evidence it has to be taken as credibal fact. Meaning honest supportive analysis is how man kind had always confirmed facts. If you ignore statistics analysis, you're blindly fighting a battle based on a few things you've seen on TV. No coyote has ever survived a full on hit from a stick of dynamite or a train, but most westerners have seen several episodes of the looney toons.
That 90 minute Q+A. Damn. Those questions were no joke.
Yes, I was blown away by his physical, emotional and pyschological stamina, to deliver that lecture and to remain engaged across that wide spectrum of ideas and with so many people focussing their attention on him. I felt he flagged a bit at the end, naturally enough but boy what a performance
Like a series of mini lectures.
That kid did an awesome job as well. He knew it wasn't about him. He had pulled together extremely impressive questions and then let Jordan answer it as he saw fit, mostly. I'd love to see him interview other people.

I call it "tiny brain, big ego" syndrome because it's usually ignorant people who think they know everything (and love to vocalize it). People with true wisdom are humble and realize that human knowledge is but a drop in the bucket within the vastness of consciousness.

Could you imagine Jordan Peterson as a bartender? The line to sit at the bar would be a mile long and once there, no one would leave.

No question he would be very entrertaining and would make a lot of friends. However, If I really got most bar's owners and managers values right, they would say "We pay you to make drinks not to entertain people". "That's for sure"
Immediately I thought of the guy ordering drinks and telling the bartender all his problems.
I imagine I would leave really quickly. He is so entertaining I would be drinking faster than I would probably realize and probably be removed for being to intoxicated.

They did well overall. I perceive them as genuinely curious and have given their questions serious consideration.
I’ve learned more history from this 3 hour lecture than all my years in history class combined. And I can see why he speaks with such passion- he isn’t ignorant and doesn’t want our world to go to shit but is belittled by dumb entitled pricks constantly. He’s a human treasure and I will always be grateful for for his wisdom and willingness to educate 🙏

I never really comment on TH-cam, but the way in which Dr Peterson refrains from speaking in certainties about things in which he admits to knowing little about - islam for example - is refreshing. The man conducts himself with a level of discipline and poise that is not often seen by many in the public eye. He seems to be refining himself and his approach with each and every interview and speaking engagement, it's quite remarkable. Absolutely wonderful and thought provoking discussion. Hat's off to Lafayette College.
I completely agree. He does by my estimation practice what he teaches. I have without doubt discerned that a most prevalent occurrence in human history particularly in the last century which results in massive strife and suffering is when people especially in leadership roles speak about things of which they have little to no knowledge of.

It has been said a million times but I am always fascinated how Prof. Peterson puts into words ideas that most of us already have and just couldn't formulate.
The Madman That’s exactly how I feel, he is the culmination of what the rest of us are thinking. Glad we finally have someone like this, but can he save us? Perhaps he can lead us....We are very near a war with ourselves. I don’t think the general public realizes our society is in real trouble.

hahaha Mike Barker, you on the other hand, being wiser and more intelligent can see through his fraud and hypocrisy right? Peterson's language is the exact opposite of word salad, I've actually seldom come across anyone who takes ideas so abstract, and is able to lay them out in clear, articulate ways. If you pay attention, you'll notice those big words serve very specific functions, and he will use simpler words when they will do. (Just because you don't understand him doesn't make it word salad by the way).
downeybill I never said I was wiser or more intelligent. But he has a serious habit of waffling on in a pretentious manner without really saying any particularly original or significant. Not all the time..sometimes he can be concise and make interesting points when he feels like it. I just feel like the fame has gone to his head a bit..or maybe he's always been like this.
*I love how he wields humor.* Doesn't it make you feel like after such a lengthy introduction or long statements that he becomes profoundly more human and relatable through the use of banter and quips in a manner that is aimed mostly to crystallize a point, make it noticeable and memorable? His elegant manner of speech is certainly something to learn from, but how he maintains a certain level of simplicity for the enjoyment of everyone involved shows even more layers of his wisdom.

Humility is a noticeable aspect of JP.
He is highly confident, determined, speaks fast and without pause yet listens intently to what others have to say- that is humility in action.

Every time JP pauses to think I’m on the edge of my seat. I know of no other speaker that makes me do that.
Sam Harris is like that and also the late Christopher Hitchens. Hitchens was of course more quick witted, but nevertheless, their minds sort of operate in the same wavelength.

I love JP, but he’s not exactly unique in that respect. The media and society, however, do not usually want to listen to long, involved lectures and debates. The public was lucky enough to discover him because he took a stand on this PC language war (and actually knew what he was talking about and was a strong orator) at just the time it was really heating up in the zeitgeist. If he hadn’t published those initial TH-cam videos about C16, it’s unlikely the general public would have ever heard learned he existed.
My point is simply that if you find this guy fascinating because you love to learn via well spoken, prodigiously researched individuals rather than just love JP for his eloquence on issues you care about, there’s a galaxy of other guys like this out there for you to watch.

Doc is so damn observant of the speaker and the audience. His engagement and intensity are astounding.
Burton Stacey III I'm sure he was always a good listener, but I think it's definitely the thousands of hours of clinical practice that has brought him to this elite status of observation.

Jordan Peterson is the single most intellectually stimulating individual I have ever had the privilege of listening to. An absolute life changer. I look forward to learning and growing through his lectures far into the future.
Arguably one of Jordan’s best lectures and discussions. He goes down deep into the core and holds your hand as he shows you each step of the ideas that lead you to the logical conclusion. It masterful and I wish I could have him teach me everything he knows.
He teaches with every statement. He lets me know how far short I have fallen in life. Thank you.

I'm not done with the video yet but this is the best interviewer I've seen with Peterson. He asks the question and lets Peterson go where he wants to go with it. I'm not sure he'd be the best with every subject but he does an amazing job here. You can tell that it's "Not about him.". That is unfortunately extremely rare.

I've watched quite a few Peterson lectures, and this is probably my favorite. The interviewer and crowd questions are too good. In today's PC climate, how many people would dare to answer such controversial questions?
Doctor Peterson did a great job at avoiding traps and taking his time w thoughtful responses, roughly speaking.
Indeed, navigated so far around the question it's as if he didn't answer it at all.

Every time I listen to Prof Peterson speaking, my Lens through which I see the world and people living in it gets more n more clear... One of very few people in the world currently who is brave n courageous n intelligent enough to speak his mind leaving huge impact on any n everyone's psyche... love him or hate him u just can’t ignore him...!

Jordan Peterson does something I've never seen on these interviews...he actually listens intently to the other people. A sign of a deeply insightful man searching for truth. The most interesting man in the world. Intelligent audience and questions.

I intended to watch this a few minutes and I'm still here 2+hrs later! Peterson is brilliant.
Dr. Peterson is a very eloquent man, incredibly knowledgable and with the courage to live as he advocates. He is a great man and very clear on his message. I, therefore, fail to understand his critics but for the resistance to accepting difficult truths and avoidance of losing 'control' and their 'moral ground'.

And Jordan says I am not an activist... The heart of my question defending free speech? OK so there is a bunch of questions. Food job by the way! He then goes on to waffle about the NRA... I am a new subscriber. Not male but an over 50s woman. Few years older than yourself. I am from Northern Ireland and grew up in a society were there was way big differences and all that brings. I myself count myself British you are probably not interested in that. I also have been married to the same man for 40 years with 3 married children and 6 grandchildren. I have a fairly high iIQ but chose to stay at home with family. So in saying all this I agree so much with what you say despite I might add some goes past my level of thinking I am getting there. Please keep up your good work I feel it is right and gives the younger people food for thought. I will keep listening and learning I hope

Valerie Loney Irish American here. A lot of Americans do not understand the background and heritage of the average Irish citizen. Basically due to the fact over 50% of Irish Americans are Farmers so they don't actually interact socially with Irish Americans on an intellectual level. It's embedded in our culture to self-sustain and be family oriented individuals. And sadly, since most Left individuals occupy areas of Capital or State assistance areas and not production, they become out of touch with the true identity of Irish history.
I physically come to tears knowing my family's origin of Ireland are fervently destroying this identity. The individuality and values it takes to be productive for the sake of survival and protection is being withered away. Keep your stance on being an individual, but don't be afraid of voicing your values. Rationality developes in all aspects of life and there's nothing wrong about having that type of integrity.
Rational Judgment Thankyou for that I was not aware that a lot of people don’t know about Irish heritage. It is a complex field I know. There is the North and the South each governed differently. The North were I’m from is considered British I identify as being that. Some don’t so as I said complex. I have just subscribed to this channel as I like Jordan Peterson and I like what I hear so far. He speaks a lot of truths which I think we all believe deep down but are afraid to say in case we offend someone or another. I feel the world has gone into chaos and we need to sort a lot out.

Ireland and Northern Ireland are a complex situation with on going problems we could talk all night about that so many different opinions. I myself am from Northern Ireland and identify as British. I love listening to Jordan Peterson his rational thinking appeals to me. I think I have been waiting so long for someone like him to speak out the way he does. I have stopped watching main steam news for a long time now. So it is nice to hear different points of views.
I have a feeling I will have to rewatch this video - so much fascinating content. A very dynamic thinker gifted with clear articulation.
Been up all night watching hours of JP. Appreciative to be able to absorb this content for free.
I aspire to someday have some of the humble carefulness, and honesty that JP carries himself with. He is so conscious of every word he says and concretely maps exactly what he is trying to say.

Haven't started video yet but felt compelled to comment just to say how much I admire Jordan. I've listened to his lectures and podcast as well as his daughter's podcast for years now. I'm a 30 year old guy that's been homeless and suffering from severe anxiety for 7 years now. Although I've been on methadone since 2015 and clean I have yet to clean my room up. Jordan's compassion with intelligence and no nonsense approach to fixing things has always been alluring to me. When things are down I try and imagine what Jordan would say to me in that moment. I have no family and feel like he gives me an idea of a father figure/ therapist/ mentor/ friend when I need it most. I haven't missed a podcast yet. I wish to one day be able to get into school to study maths as that and the physical sciences has always been my interest and truly is my motivation to get up everyday. I pray that in time I become more confident, less awkward, and in a place where I'm a bit more content and surrounded by positive people I can show my love to. Thank you Dr. Peterson for being a guiding light to me. It's meant a lot. You've helped more people than I'm sure you can fathom, and that are in situations that are more unique and varied than anyone can comprehend. Thanks man. Thanks.

It’s lengthy but I recommend that if you have the time you watch it in it’s entirety, I learned a lot. I’ll give Lafayette props for doing a great job researching and gathering some great questions. Also no protesters interrupting a valuable discussion.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole video, start to finish.. as usual! Hats off to the initial questions, very well researched, very well formed. Much respect to the students who clearly leaned one way but conducted themselves with grace when asking questions. This was a refreshing change in that aspect.
What a thoughtful and deep set of questions and answers! I don't know what they're doing at Lafayette College but these questions were head and shoulders above previous lectures and Q&As that I have watched. The organizers and participants should be proud.

As a 16 year old male Adolescence from a working class background in Scotland, I have become enthralled by the knowledge of which Dr Peterson speaks on due to this I feel as though I am very quickly putting my goals and views at the forefront of my mind. I have been called conciseness ever since I started to conduct myself in a professional state of being in the last 1.5 years, I am and will be continuously working on improving my faults. Although i am clearly nowhere near understanding my self now nor when i really become an adult i have set out my plan for the future although I believe that one person can not prepare for what comes next in a realistic way, In a world where the goal of man is to deter from 'Chaos' as Dr Peterson has discussed it in great length. To conclude I discovered Dr Peterson From his first Siting with Ethan and Hila from H3H3 Podcast.

Good for you, keep on your journey and remember, we're all basically broken human beings to varying degrees over time and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Your life will unfold before you no matter what, at least by the sounds of it you're thinking about the manner you'd prefer it to unfold, that already puts you ahead of most you'll meet. Never give up!
Start with a couple periods in your paragraphs.
Jordan - the trick is to have a goal/s and then replace that goal/s only if something more valuable comes along. So work out what your values are and don't mistake your values for what you 'shine/project' them on, your values aren't people or destinations or things but can be discovered through them Have strategies, ways of achieving, rather than a rule, a singular way of doing that doesn't take into account the unfolding complexity of the future that you can't accurately predict. And ... enjoy the process, your path looking forwards is nothing like your future self ' s path looking back. Could you have predicted how you would have achieved being 16 at the age of 6? It had twists and turns, some evoked by you, some provoked on you, and you had capabilities of receiving and doing that got you there. Well done!
At the age of 44 that's about the best I have worked out to date. I wish you well in your journey, it'll have highs and lows but it is always worth it.

One reason is because we've never grasped and respected the full power of ideas.
I've always considered myself as being liberal, as being on the left, but this movement to radicalise everything on that side is both surprising & disappointing to me. As a bisexual female I've always believed in free speech, you cannot announce yourself as liberal but follow that up by exclaiming that it can only be considered to those thought to be the minority. To group people together in a community is ridiculous, I in no way want to be part of a LGBT "community", just as I don't speak for all white women, I don't speak for all those in that "community" & I certainly don't want those speaking on my behalf, not during this movement in particular.

I was beginning to become disillusioned with how vitriolic the left had become. Especially my fellow progressives. JP came along and taught me how to think about things with the progress of mindset but disassociate myself from any form of identity politics.
JP has actually reinforced my progressivism by having me critically examine if my actions were contributing to tribalism.

Fernando Marquez, my reluctance to be placed amongst the many into a community, so to speak, is based on my desire to not be expected to speak for the masses. I'm noticing that such communities have a tendency to have one speak for the masses & I'm absolutely oppose to having others opinions be considered my own based on one singular similarity that we share. I see that there's safety in numbers, that having other individuals validate your opinions can be useful. Though, in such a time as this, it appears that the radical left are using their circle as an echo chamber, bouncing around their nonsensical ideas & nodding their heads as each person condemns those outside of their circle. It makes me embarrassed to have any shared opinions with them, even if it is merely their most mentally stable & rational few.

Thank god for Jordan and men and women like him, they are needed now more than ever. I hope I get the chance to tell him one day how much I appreciate him and how much of an impact he has made in my life.
My dream is to meet Peterson. I could tell him some crazy stories of my life. I'm one who has had every reason to throw in the towel, yet I'm still working sometimes 70 hours a week trying to make it. I just want happiness like everyone else.

Your problem seems to be financial. Finances is a simple game of money in and money out. Both of which you can change to a certain degree. I find most financial problems isn’t the money in, but is instead the money out. Pay off debts, and still work 70 hrs a week and you’d be rolling in money sooner than you think. While I personally don’t agree with 100% of his plan(mainly on housing), Dave Ramsey’s first 3 baby steps I consider to be the best money advice to ever be told!

This was an absolute joy to behold, and I learned so much from it. The questions were fantastic and the overall atmosphere was just so beautiful. It was great to hear Dr. Peterson tackle those insightful questions without having a bunch of knobheads shouting down his every word if it didn't match what they wanted, and I also quite liked the respectful silences that followed some of his more humorous statements as they served to maintain the formal nature of the event. I will be coming back to this many more times in the future. Well done to the organisers, Dr. Peterson, the moderator, and all of the students for putting this together and holding it so well!
