    As a channel member of Randomonium, I noticed that ALL OF THE VIDEOS from 2020-2021 are no longer public. All of the Commercial Directors React, Wild Ideas, Vlogs, Danny's Book of Bad Ideas, Hidden In Plain Sight (at The Edge), and Uncut Challenges videos are now on the Members-Only Playlist. What is gonna happen to the channel? Will there still be videos coming soon? What is the news style of content that this channel is going for? Will the Timely Podcast (as well as the TH-cam channel) come back?

    As a professional graphic designer, I was vehemently against Canva for a long time (for reasons such as: the service takes away jobs from professional designers, makes it too easy for people, etc) - but when I started using it for my job, it actually is incredible how easy and convenient it is. Yes, there are still things that Canva can't quite replicate, but I've been able to realize that 1) you can mix and use Canva in addition to other more professional tools and still come out with an awesome product and 2) Yes, Canva makes it easy for non-designers to make generally eye appealing graphics, but you'll never truly create good content if you don't naturally have an eye for it. I still think that In order to truly use Canva to its fullest potential, you need that creative person behind the screen.

    A lot of people have mixed reactions about Canva and how it might be "undercutting" professionals / graphic designers, and it was at first interesting seeing y'all promote it, being professional photographers/directors yourselves. Cool to see it used as a helpful tool, but I wonder, would you still prefer to use software like PremirePro/Aftereffects/DaVinci Resolve?

    • @likelycrew
      @likelycrew  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a valid concern, and it’s an important conversation as lots of creative tools (including AI) are changing the way creators work. I (Jon) listened to a podcast with the founder of Canva, and I believe her mission - to make design more accessible to all - is great. That being said, professional editing tools can still do a lot more than Canva, so they’re not going anywhere for awhile. We still use them every day.

    • @vsvu
      @vsvu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@likelycrew That is a neat standpoint, and one I hadn't necessarily thought of. I agree with what you've said about how innovative creative tools are changing how we work, but people (including myself, in this example) take these innovations the wrong way. Once something like AI or Canva is introduced, there seems to be a mass hysteria of "They're coming for my job! AHHHH!!!" - where, in reality, I see something like AI as a great asset for both myself as a designer and to people who want ease of access to high-quality, customized images. I (or my clients) could use AI as a tool to draft ideas to inspire a project - like a less time-consuming mock-up of the final product; a personalized Pinterest, if you will. As you've described it, Canva seems to be the exact same thing - it would be great for videographers/graphic designers to have a quick, easy, and highly detailed mock-up/sketch of what they might want the final product to be like, or it could be used by clients to communicate their wants/needs/ideas. Then, for the everyday person (like a university organization that needs to spread information about an event), Canva is an easy substitute for professional Adobe products like Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop; Canva is quick, easy, and gets what they need done. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the TedTalk - this is most certainly a fascinating topic for me... Also, thanks for replying! I've enjoyed dishing out these thoughts, and it's always a pleasure to see things through new lenses :)
