Kawagoe is located less than an hour away from Tokyo via Express Train. This city is a perfect addition to your Japan travel itinerary if you want to experience historical Japan and escape Tokyo's busy, modern city. ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m Remi. A Japanese-American millennial navigating adulthood in Los Angeles. I was born in Fukuoka, Japan but was adopted and raised in Los Angeles, CA.
I love playing tourist in my own city and discovering new places to visit (& eat)!
My mission is to encourage people to be tourists in their own cities by sharing my experiences with the world.
You’ll discover places to visit in Los Angeles/Southern California and get an understanding of what it’s like to live in LA.
I’ll also take you with me as I continue to learn more about Japan and my Japanese heritage.
Thanks so much for watching!

I was so close to visiting and working in Japan at one point. I'm a Motion Capture performer and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. That would've been a real dream come true to visit Japan. You have some amazing videos on your channel.
wow! that's so cool. thank you for sharing your story! wishing you the best and hopefully even more opportunities to visit Japan. :)
@@remishimazu Thank you so much for saying that.

Sweet potato beer🤤
YES! I still have yet to try the sweet potato beer but it honestly sounds amazing!
Hi! Was the canal with Koi fishes near the warehouse district? Was in the area yesterday but didn't manage to find one. I've been wanting to see it in person.
It was actually a little area under a restaurant! I don't remember what the restaurant was called though... I happened to stumble upon it because I was looking down lol
Nice coverage. Will it require a full day to do this trip or is half a day sufficient?
You could probably finish activities in a half day but I always leave a designated day for kawagoe (due to travel time from Tokyo).
What days of the week is Kawagoe open and closed? I have read Kawagoe is closed Mon & Wed. Can you please confirm? I will be visiting in August and would love to visit , Kurazukuri Street and Kashiya Yokocho , Candy Alley.
Hi! I looked at the hours listed on google maps for these places and most are open every day of the week. There are some that are closed Mondays. Before you go, I'd double check if there are any holidays that may impact open hours. I hope this was helpful!
Hi Remi! We're going to Tokyo in less than a month. Have you been to Nikko? We're planning to go to Edo Wonderland and Nikko Toshogu shrine. Would you suggest we go to Kawagoe instead?
Hi!! I’ve never been to Nikko but it is definitely on my list of places to visit. Nikko takes longer to get to from Tokyo than Kawagoe however if you’re looking for a full Edo period experience to see what it was like back then, then Edo Wonderland seems like a great option.
Kawagoe you’ll see preserved architecture and how the Edo style buildings have been repurposed and used in current times.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either! It really depends on what your schedule allows for. I hope this was helpful? Haha I wish I could tell you more about Nikko!
Is it possible to walk around on the second week of December? is it snowing?
This video was filmed during the last week of December and there wasn’t any snow in this region. You’ll have to check the weather closer to when you leave but typically snow is heavier and starts earlier in northern Japan.
@@remishimazu Thanks for information...Regards
