After over 50 years of shooting 35mm and 120 films, I got a Fujifilm camera for its retro look. There was just one Fuji camera available: the X-T30II with a kit lens. It took a month, and my trip (the main reason for buying the camera) was approaching, so I bought a backup camera, Fuji X-E3. Well, the T30 arrived a week short of my trip, and I have to say that the learning curve was a little overwhelming. I have shot fully manually all my life, so most of my settings were for manual camera control. I have to say that I can recommend it thoroughly. By the way, the X-E3 is also an outstanding little camera.

Xt30ii was my first Fuji camera and I love it. I just bought an X-T5 and was originally planning to sell the xt30ii to help recoup some of the cost but I can’t bring myself to sell it. It’s really a perfect grab and go camera especially with a pancake or any of the f/2 fujicrons. And the picture quality is amazing.

So you knowing the meaning curve over the xt30ii is any more difficult than the x100 VI? Or…are the menus basically the same.
I’m considering this since I there x100 vi is so hard to get right now.
Would appreciate any feedback you might be able to offer.
      Thank you!

hey can you help me. I am a beginner and am looking to buy my first camera. Should I go for the XT30ii or increase my budget and get the XT5. Which one would be a better choice for a beginner who wants to get into the world of photography and learn.

    • @Left_Hand_Path

@@nikhilkumarmishra2178 for a beginner I would definitely just go with the xt30ii and spend the money you saved on some nice lenses. The xt30ii is really a great camera and more than enough camera for someone starting out and learning. I’ve actually taken some of my favorite shots ever with it and the 23mm f2 Fuji lens.

I bought a Fuji X10 on a whim back in 2012 and never really learned how to use it until recently. Although it is an astounding device, eventually the tiny sensor became too much of a limitation and I sold it on eBay (for around the same price I originally paid!) and bought an XT-30ii as the perfect upgrade. Still compact but with far more capability. I got mine with the super-cheap XC15-45 lens, which also has OIS and is fine for a general point-and-shoot, but I soon also treated myself to the XF35F2 and a really nice TTArtisans 56F1.8. Next purchase will need to be a descent telephoto but that's a bit of a different price level!

I’ve been looking at Fuji cameras and the XT30ii & XT4 have stood out to me the most. I mainly use my camera for travel / everyday use plus some automotive photography. Recently looking to get into portrait / studio maybe.. would either of these cameras be capable or not? I’m a Sony A6000 user so I’m not up on Fujifilms.

I used a new XT-30 II with the 15-45mm xc kit lens and found that the photos are not sharp and blurry. There are much more noise than photos taken with my XS-10 with the 16-80mm kit lens. The photos are usually quite dark. Not sure if it is due to the camera, the lens or the receipe that used 400 dynamic range which requires minimum 640 ISO. 640 ISO should not be an issue on photo noise for Fuji camera. Does any one have the same experience and know the reasons why?

    • @matosobvc

Thanks for the video! Pretty much agree with you on all points. A quick hardware question, if I may. Do you find the exposure compensation dial on XT-30 Mark 2 too stiff, too tight to rotate while taking pictures? I constantly end up pushing the Q button button while rotating it since I have to employ two fingers for doing that, while on my XE-4 it is an easy one finger effort.. Thanks!

In-camera stock film simulations are good because they are based on real film color characteristics, not exactly the same but a good digital representation and a great way to save time color grading.
The recipes from users however… are still the same Fuji simulations with some tweaks so I really see no reason to use them especially that nobody apart from Fuji or Kodak would probably be able to come up with Portra simulation that somewhat resembles the film stock. But great for those who never shot and developed a roll of Portra themselves, I guess.
Having said that I do enjoy my Fujifilm simulations and wish Fuji joined with Kodak to bring some of those simulations too!
