      Used to shoot with X100V but after Ricoh GR III it opened a new world of focusing faster to me (joystick focusing for me is the past, it’s so slow)
      And since the X100VI is so expensive and the dials and fast photo to video switching on Ricoh worked so well I think this camera is way better than X100V or VI if you know how to use it in manual mode. The dials look retro and maybe slow to some people but imagine trying to set the iso on the X100V/VI and having to switch the dial mode every time… switch to video via drive mode I believe cause there’s no mode dial… it’s just slow in my opinion, you can’t react to situations quickly changing around you when you’re like me both filming clips and shooting…
      I can’t wait to get back to all the film
      Simulations in Lightroom, I really missed them!

    Xt30ii : Cheap, small, gen 4 processor, no ibis
    Xs20 : Has a big grip but i hate the flip screen, no visible shutter speed numbers on the dial, gen 5 processor, has ibis.
    Xt50 : Small, has tilt screen, visible shutter speed numebrs, gen5 processor, has ibis, but 40mpx, expensive.

    Good video! I was ready to pre-order the X-T50, but when I heard the price I immediately picked up the X-T30 II as my local shop just got one in stock from Fujifilm. I'd say the X-T30 II is a bargain compared to that X-T50 price. And for an EDC camera I certainly don't need a 40mp camera. Thanks :)

    I looked at all of the cameras on the market before deciding to switch from Cannon EF to Fuji X; I did get a Fringer EF-XF Pro III adapter to continue using the EF lenses on the new camera as I have a nice Tameron EF 70-300 IS that I want to use for wildlife. I was initially looking at the X-T5 but decided that I haven't "earned" a pro level camera yet and that I should first buy more lenses and become proficient with something older or cheaper. I decided on the X-T30 II because of its size, and I know that I will still love it for that reason when I do eventually get an X-T5 lightly used or maybe even an X-T6.

    • @DigitalRetro

      If I had to start with a new system now, I'd go for Fuji! The compactness and the feel of this system is magic. Even tho I still use Sony FF, I still prefer to just pick up my XT30II for photography. Like you said I too don't feel "pro", so XT30II is just fine for me(the same reason I did shoot a long time with A7II for my works before switching to more "serious" A7C). I'm not exluding that in the future I will also ditch Sony and go with X-T series both for video and photography. Cheers and have fun with your XT30II!

    • @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm
      @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DigitalRetro It is funny that you should mention that because I have been looking at some used A7RIII's and IV's. I want to do some night and low light street photography and so I will eventually get a full-frame and I think Sony is the obvious choice. They have put so much more r&d into camera production than the other brands and their lens lineup and firmware updates, along with third party lenses, make them the best long term decision in my opinion. Cannon does have some really great bodies at lower cost than Sony, but I think they lose money on their bodies or cut even and make up for it by locking out third party lenses.

    • @DigitalRetro
      @DigitalRetro  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@6.5mm_is_the_best_mm Sure, Sony is great for it's E mount system and AF/low light performance and as a FF system I highly recommend it. On the other hand Fuji's sensor has come a long way, too. I was shocked by XT30II high ISO quality. It's usable even at 12800 in certain situations. And it's not even the top shelf of Fuji's APS-C. Of course the FF will always offer better DR and light perfrormance, however the Fuji's color and user experience are so tempting. I guess having both Sony and Fuji is the convenient way for now 🙃

    Hang onto that unicorn and treat it well. Rumor has it that it will be discontinued when the XT50 is announced this week. The demand for it is so high that you most likely won't lose much money if you should ever consider selling it. I'm mega jelly. Been searching for it everywhere but I can only find the black model and I'm freakin' obsessed with the silver ones. Half considering having a loved one buy it for me in Poland. Oh dear.

    Nobody rants Leica, now that Fujifilm x100vi gets attention, everybody is searching for alternative...why? have you seen anyone searching for replacement like for Q2 or Q3 or M6? It's another Iconic camera on the market, that is good, it gets competition, Lets be serious 1 million orders in first month, can't be all dumb or fashionista...and x100vi makes me want to shoot more, a7iv doesn't

      "1 million orders can't all be fashionista". It sounds like you are suggesting there were 1m current photographers who were not happy with their kit and this magic camera came along and ticked all the boxes and allowed them to upgrade from their crappy camera that couldn't take half decent photos. This is not true of course, and it absolutely is fashionista. If it means it's encouraging more people to take up photography, then that's not a bad thing, but I believe the majority are clamouring to buy it precisely because it is en vogue. Many young photographers are so persuaded by influencers, thinking they need the latest tech, and I bet you a bunch of VI owners were V owners. My only Fuji is an eight year old XE2S, and I bet I can take better pictures with it than many VI owners. This is why videos highlighting lesser-known or lesser popular models is a good thing. I've always coveted the XT30ii, it's a really neat little camera.

      @@JamieFurlong On point! The majority of people didn't start buying X100V, and then X100VI because of how great it is, but I was hyped by the TH-cams and influencers and Fuji siezed the opportunity to wind the price to an absurd level. It's like this camera became a symbol of something like "Oh, look I'm a photographa". And of course people can spend their money on whatever they like, but it's a shame this situation did hit "real" photographers with a ricochet. And I don't understand why X-T30II is not that popular either. The more I use it the more I like it. It's a great camera to enter Fuji or to switch from older models, especially if you don't own the X-T30.

    • @JamieFurlong
      @JamieFurlong 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DigitalRetro thanks for the reply. I think I would have bought the XT30ii by now were it not for the fact I've had to reduce my spending currently, but I already shoot full frame and m43. I bought the XE2S because 1) I'd read about that second generation sensor; 2) I got a near perfect copy for really cheap; and 3) I wanted to understand the Fuji hype first hand. Gotta say I love that xe2 for an EDC and especially for monochrome. My three criteria for a camera are small, interchangable, and EVF. If it ticks those three boxes, I'm in, which is why I may still yet grab an XT30ii. But it can wait, I have enough cameras already 😅
