@@WEF-APOPHIS-2029 went great actually, some people requested songs I did not have, opted to use my phone to play the song from online source and it would cut off intermittently, other than that I got two people requesting my information for their party 👍🏽
This video and last week was completely invaluable to me. Thank you so much. I have been retired from DJing for 20 years, used to be a pro I guess you'd call it. I have a 2-day festival I'm doing next weekend on rx3 I have a flx 10 I was worried about the new equipment, this video helped with that thank you so much. Your channel has helped me do the conversion from Vinyl to digital very easily.
Started DJing in the 80s through the mid 2000s. As my career, life becomes busier, I’ve had less time to dedicate to my passion. Still own equipment turntables, mixers, vinyl, DJ mp3 Collections, Serato, Rekordbox and controllers. The most daunting, time consuming is music acquisition and management. Finding the time to analyze, aligning beat grids, cue points and knowing the order to play the tracks songs is what’s holding me back.
I never bother adjusting beat grids much, as long as the downbeat is right and the BPM is correct. I don't use sync so I don't need beat grids to be perfectly on the kick. I just nudge after playing to get it sounding right. Takes just couple seconds. Most modern tracks are all perfect whole BPM's these days.
There is no "order" to know, it is dictated by the right song to play next for the people in front of you (or if you're DJing at home, what do YOU want to hear next?).
I think one from the waveforms everyone needs to know, it can be overlooked or some people just don't know. The little white lines on the full waveform are the minutes of the song. Very very useful
I will say I went all in on digital, but decided to record my vinyl collection using an Audio-Technica turntable that has a USB connection. I don't regret it, but I did make compromises, as I cleaned up big pops and such, but left a lot of the other noise in, and only went and bought digital if my old vinyl just sounded terrible. Most of what I recorded though you unfortunately can't find digitally. Took me roughly 5 years to do around 1500 records. I would recommend if you don't want to spend the money on music again and have the time, but would more align with Digital DJ Tips on just buying new copies if you do not have the time. I will say though the experience did reacquaint me with a lot of music I had forgotten about. I wholeheartedly agree on curation. I ONLY recorded what I know I'll use, and abandoned remixes I know I'll never play.
I have sat through ripping vinyl also, as a good amount of the music I mix isn't on digital (90s early 00s jungle/DnB & UK garage) it's OK finding the commercial stuff and some artists who kept their dats that they could convert, but a good majorly isn't out there. I did whole tracks though, as I found a group who ripped and shared garage.
Im 60 yo, and i'm still playing regularly. I've start in the late 70s with vinil. After I've stopped for two decades, I've returned in 2017. I've choosed digital files and full digital gear... At the moment i use only digital.
I used to DJ fairly sucessfully in the mobile market from 1975 to 1991 and then because of my job had to stop and sold off my gear and very large singles collection. I started again in 2020 with a DDJ800 then also buying a DDJ1000 and I learnt at home just for fun and then that lead to in the last few year to being able to use my controller backstage to provide recorded rock music music as the various bands switch over equipment on the stage at a local smallish 2 day rock festival which is great fun and I really enjoy just doing this and seeing people enjoing the music.
@@dj4monie I said it would kill you, meaning I’ve had bad luck with it. Now the challenge part? You want to challenge me? How much is it worth to you. I get payed to play.

My issue with dealing with different downloads & music sources is the different levels and audio compressions. Often the downloaded tracks are past the 0db clipping zone. I just took the time to figure out how to master mp3 files - so that's what I do, along with ripping vinyl and remastering those. In the end, most downloads and vinyl sound similar in levels in quality. But I enjoy the music when the quality is good, so it's worth the time.
This video just speaks to me as if it was made for me right now. Haha. I’m an old vinyl dj I have kept all my gear and have started djing again. I have done some live streams on twitch and how I want more. I’m stuck in a decision of whether to embrace technology and I was thinking of getting an rx3 or get a new Dvs mixer maybe the 750mk2 and hook up to my turntables. I currently play house music from the 2000s but I do love other styles and want to spin those aswell. Hmmmm big decisions. I’m not to keen on getting another computer if I was to go DVS. Most people recommend 1 pc to stream then another for DVS. that’s why stand-alone sounds good to me. What to do.
@@digitaldjtips hey mate. Thanks so much for your reply. Thought I would give you an upstate. I purchased an rx3 and have been having a blast. I still love my vinyl and I have 1 turntable connected to the rx3 so I can jump in vinyl whenever I feel the need. Thanks for your advice.
The sync button is great for when you have a little hard of hearing the beats to mix after mny years of playing , when your hearing is starting to go a little bit .
As a bedroom DJ in the 90's I really enjoyed these three videos, but I can't help think they should have included a section on Virtual Vinyl/Time Code Vinyl/Phase or whatever is relevant now, I'm sure there are many viewers like me with a couple of old Technics in the loft, but haven't got a clue what options are out there, I have heard of Virtual DJ/Traktor/Serrato over the years, but is there anything out there cheap enough to get up and running with the old Technics? Thanks for these videos though 🙂
Yeah, good point, we have covered this elsewhere. And it is indeed possible. You need to buy some timecode vinyl, you need to buy a copy of Serato DJ Pro, and you need to buy something called the Reloop Flux.
