I'm more of a Ford guy when it comes to American cars, but you cant help but admire a 480 hp small block. Plus, no computers or expensive electronics unlike modern cars.
Their TH-cam channel is That Engine Guy, when I checked Smeding performance channel it wasn't there , just thought I would mention it. Good that they donated this to your car build! Will enjoy watching the build

I like it sir. I was debating on either go LS or 383. After watching this video I’m considering on going with a 383 stroker and run it with my Holley efi sniper.
I am a Ford guy, but I love the 87 Monte especially the SS
I used to have a 85 Cutlass Brougham... blew up the 307, dropped a 350 in it... total sleeper! Literally used to smoke people with a "grandpa car"!

That is a sweet engine. If you ever decide to send the Monte to auction, it would be cool if you and Mike could take it to Mecum.That would be something different for the channel. It's a nice car and with that engine, man, it's a winner. Can't wait for the video and hear that bad boy running. I'm sure you will have to take it to Mexico to bury the speedo
I can see why you just looked at for 20 minutes. All the stylistic choices of where to use black, versus polished aluminum, to cast silver... This engine is a beauty to look at. Almost a shame to use it and get it dirty lol

Hey Randy congrats and what a beautiful engine can't wait to see it installed on the Monte. It's going to be bad ass. I think Santa Workshop should also get an engine from smeading on his El Caballero that would be bad ass too. And that would be good car to take to power tour if he comes with you and monkey wrench. Keep up the great content as well.
Congratulations Randy…hats off to your sponsors. You should put that engine and trans into your step side truck…then have the trucks engine fixed and jam it into to the Monte Carlo. IMHO the truck is cooler than the MC.

I hope you’re ready for the power tour of 2024 I can’t wait to see you on video because I know you do the power tomorrow with monkey wrench Mike every year so I can’t wait to see the video on that one and I can’t wait to see the tear down and build back up on this new engine you got for the Monte Carlo can’t wait to see the video and if you would, please tell Cell tell Mike from Santa’s workshop I said hi and I like I said I can’t wait to see the next video on the teardown of the engine of the Monte Carlo in the build back up from the one from Smitty performance. Randy, you may want to put the actual link to "That Engine Guy" video with his web site video. It was kinda hard to find the actual video of your 383 stroker. I can't tell from the video but you may want to install a fuel pump with a return line for hot weather or else you may get vapor lock and hard restarting due to fuel boiling into the carb. With a return line it would allow the pressure to go back into the tank instead of the carb.

Guessing putting an aftermarket engine in that GN would have been like sacrilege. That GN, although not perfect was super nice. The right enthusiast needs to get a hold of that and fix it and finish the restoration. The 87 Monte on the other hand, nice, but not really a collector car. .
Smeding and Blueprint both make their own blocks. Dont know if Blueprint has the same differences or not. The hand blended valve bowls means someone took a tool and cleaned up the casting in the heads..its not actual porting. Since the heads are made for them they were cast from heads that were ported.

This engine can also be installed on Mike's 1979 gmc El cabrello
You should try putting an efi on it. Since the car originally had efi.
Ummm the car originally is a Rochester quadrajet which is what it has now….

I always wanted to put NASCAR steelies & yellow letter Goodyear Eagles for mine think Coker is making replicas
Only thing I would change is the spark plugs.
Being the certified mechanic that I'm not, you need to drain that oil and refill with Rotella 50SAE diesel motor oil has it has the vitamins and minerals needed for that engine 😉🤣😎
This engine doesn’t need any of that as it’s a roller engine. Only flat tappet needs zinc.
So did they sponsor you with this engine?
Thought Jasper also had a three year warranty as well. Could be wrong though.
