You are awesome sir! I made the mistake by going with a different company for a 383 stroker in my 1963 Chevy C 10 Hot Rod. I sure wish that I could have found you first, before I went with this other company out in Washington state. I will certainly be watching this channel, and I will certainly be getting my engine from you next time, sir!
Great video. I have been contemplating, replacing my old 305 in my 1986 Trans Am that I have had for over 30 years, with one of Smeding’s engines. But then I think I would have to replace the old transmission & maybe the rear end & considering I can’t do any of the work myself, it would be lots of $$$$$$$.
@@heroshotlgn Sitting in the subframe all bolted up in my garage, waiting for me to get off my lazy a$$ and get the rest of my cage and subframe connectors welded in... about two months away from that.. Thanks for asking 🙂
hey just checking if theres a video between the 383 sbc hot rod/cruiser/extreme i am planning to swap one of them into my YJ and trying to compare idle chop and stuff. OR if theres any with the other fuel conrtol/timing options on the website :) thank you
Can you please give me the dimensions of the framing 2x10s to cradle the finished blocks? I'd like to get these blocks on casters up off the ground, and organized !! Thanks for the video
Is it internally balanced externally balanced or neutral balanced and what kind of a stall would you have to run if you're running Automatic transmission what be appropriate rear gear
The explanation of the hyperspark isn’t exactly accurate. There are things to be adjusted afterward but once dialed in, not the timing but the distributor’s position and a parameter in the ECU I don’t remember off the top of my head because it’s been too long, then you can forget it. It installs with a cap that gets you close and then you verify the timing on the crank pulley. Then you rev it up and make sure that the displayed timing stays steady with the crank. There’s a parameter that must be adjusted until it’s inline with the displayed timing and the timing read at the crank.
@@JacobVillemain that’s the guy. I’ve done it once, 2 years ago when I installed the system, then never again. Had the dizzy out a couple times since then but it’s a quick fix to get it back into position. Once the inductive delay is set you’re golden but I don’t know how many people read the instructions in depth enough to do that. I see people having issues with it on the Holley forums frequently.
so, all I'm saying is chevy is always envious of Chrysler and Ford for that matter why not a 396, 427, 409, 454, 455 why a 383 because it would beat anything Chevy had

How do ur crank rods and pistons compare to the quality of a scat kit? That’s the only thing stopping me from buying a shortblock. Just because I’ve not heard if they are as strong. I also was wondering if you can have a custom bottom end built? Because I’m wanting a little higher compression?
I’ll be buying the smeding 383 stroked short block soon and I can’t wait.

I love it! It sounds amazing! I want to thank you and your crew for y'alls time and effort. Thank you Smeding Performance and That Engine Guy!
Is this a video on your engine?

Bought mine last night. Can’t wait
Would love to have A Holley sniper FI and hyperspark distributor set up.
Dynos are amazing. It appears that you are pumping all exhaust into the dyno room. Maybe im not seeing correctly.
That open header is like an egr system I feel like there's more power to make with a proper cold air intake
Came so close to ordering the Smeding Performance 383 short block but I got to get really hands on with the machining for my L31 383

Well done
Is this the Smeding that used to be off of Sunrise in Rancho? My shop was on White Rock and Fitzgerald when you disappeared along with the Earls shop.
is it 4 bolt mains and what is the redline
Also what kind of warranty does it come with had a few more questions is it gas pump friendly
Is it internally balanced externally balanced or neutral balanced and what kind of a stall would you have to run if you're running Automatic transmission what be appropriate rear gear
So who makes the crank and rods they use
what headers make this engine happy?
nice engine for a C3 :)
What size headers do you recommend with this engine?
I have a 383 stroker and looking to do a cam change If you don’t mind sharing what type of cam is in that engine it sounds awesome.
What did you go with
I am looking into one of your 383 engines with about 400hp for a 1962 Corvette. what can you offer me. Tim (MN.).
383 hot Rod has 420HP and cruiser has 380HP I believe

We check those parameters as well. You're thinking of inductive delay.

What kind of price, for one of these beauties?
All prices can be found on our website. Or you can call us for a quote!
Way to much for 390 wheel lol
Smeding performance has all their pricing listed on their website. their 383 420HP spec'd with sniper EFI and hyper spark ignition system is $9,020.

do you have to copy everything guess what why not a 396 that's Chevy?
What did they copy?
@@chadrobertson3075 you know they had a great 396 engine 325, 350, or 375 hp. 383 was a Chrysler engine that who.
What are you even getting at? Do you not know what a 383 stroker engine is and why its better than a 350 at the same price?

@thomasdearment3214 you can make a Chrysler 426 stoker out of a 383, you can make a 408 stroker from a 351 winsor. Am i talking to biden?
I guess I should have looked up "REAL" 383 on TH-cam. Not these wanna be 350 motors.
What is a real 383 lol😂

A simple little street motor? Thats a stump puller. Lol
480 is big block torque! The "onlyxx hp" guys are clueless
