Why build the SS versus the grand national? Please explain
The GN is worth far more (SOLD IT FOR $24,000) than the SS. The GN would be worth FAR LESS if I butchered it for a v8 upgrade whereas the SS will be worth MORE.

The year was 1987. Me and my friends cruised a 76 gran Torino elite with a 351 modified 400. We never lost a race to anyone until that car brand new rolled up on our side and he ate our lunch. Wait a minute that's not the SS same paint scheme but this is not the SS.

Hello Randy, Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike and Mike aka Santa's Workshop. Taking out the motor and transmission of the 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Replacing it with a brand new motor and transmission for better speed. Also it's for Powertour.

Think I saw him taking out the trans lines, said he cut the exhaust , broke all the bolts on the headers, said he disconnected the starter, cut the fuel lines, and also filmed. It's nice to work on cars with your friends.
haters gonna hate Randy does a ton of work on his cars but it never hurts to have good friends to help out just like we did back in the day before TH-cam and the Internet and smart phones.
Well done guys. Very entertaining mate. This is my old line of business. Restoring old cars from many Rolls Royce through Jaguars and many American muscle cars we had in England and we have many in Perth western Australia. I restored many Chrysler chargers and Mustangs to power steering 😂. Absolutely love your shows mate. I'm into model S now & loving it.

Had to replay the part about the 2004r, was the weakest link in my 86 SS, 220,000 miles and 7 transmission rebuilds, yelp 5 year unlimited mileage GM warranty ate thier lunch. One reason they don't do that unlimited mileage anymore.

I did a 350 swap on a Chevy truck and put straight pipes and headers till I got to the muffler shop the next day. We were out test driving it and got pulled over. I asked the cop what the issue was. He said he pulled me over for no exhaust on my truck. I smiled and laughed at him and said yes I do. He looked at me real funny and I said it was in the box of the truck. He looked and I had to old one I cut off from the truck there. The cop said just get it fixed tomorrow. Word play is a good thing. 😂

Definitely not an overly difficult job, since you are putting the same type of engine back in, just eliminating all of the 80s electronics, now if you were going up to an LS that’s a different story, but still there’s a kit for that.
Too bad you didn’t go with an EFI Setup.
20:17, weren’t you originally keeping everything for the Monte Carlo, when it comes to the original engine and transmission, so when you sell it, you can include it??

I hope you keep the original engine and transmission and when your done with the motor and transmission your putting in when you send the car to auction you find another vehicle to put the new engine and transmission in it and put the original engine and transmission back into the Monte Carlo.😊

After you put the motor and trans in it, put the exhaust on it, put a whole new sound system in it from boss audio, stereo, speakers, kicker subwoofer

Randy you should not reuse your driveshaft you should get one that is rated for your horse power and you also should replace your rear differential and put in a one that is rated for your horse power put in like a 411 possie and you will have a very good car that will be a very good looking and it will not give you any trouble THANK YOU VERY MUCH Charlie kretschmar Phoenix Arizona
