    Semantics, but the protagonists at Bernie's house weren't using Bernie's corpse to keep staying at his place--they were pretending he was still alive so that the hitman *wouldn't kill them*. Bernie initially asks the mob to get rid of them, but then gets killed himself because he was cheating with the mobster's girlfriend. Do I perhaps know too much about this movie? Maybe.

    Terminator 1 & 2: The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.
    Terminator 3: Actually, the future IS set. Judgement Day is inevitable and everything you did to try and prevent it only delayed it by a few years (so we can keep making more movies).

    • @MrErizid
      @MrErizid 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      That complaint totally ignores the fact that T1 and T2 are a time travel paradox. Unless Skynet is eventually created without the first Terminator's chip, there can be no Terminator to get sent back in the first place. I liked how Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles handled Judgement Day. When the people in the past score a victory over the Terminators, Judgement Day moves back. If the Terminators score a victory in the past, Judgement day gets closer. The time war is infinite, all you can do is indefinitely delay Judgement day. The resistance fighters use Judgement Date as a way to tell what timeline each other are from.

    • @austintgod9621

      1&2 was so simple.

      T2 as a stand alone works perfectly; having a T1 automatically makes it a series. The pep talk has nothing to do with how many films need to exist or can exist in the franchise.

      @@MrErizid Agree. T1 and T2's message was just false hope but that in no way invalidates the movies...or even contradicts them, it enhances them, makes them an epic tragedy that makes the whole biblical savior allegory/allusion/analogy stronger.

    5:56 But that's not really what the sequels were about. The humans weren't treating the Matrix like a virus that needed to be eradicated anymore than they did in the original movie. They treated it larely like the nefarious construct created by enemy robots from the very start and throughout the sequels. It's only Neo who starts to see the bigger picture, how humanity and the machines are now part of a symbiotic circle in which they are dependent on each other for survival, and the Matrix plays a vital role in that. If anyone or anything in the sequels is treated like a virus, it's Smith as he spreads across the Matrix and becomes a existential threat to both man and machine.
    The sequels also focus largely on the heady ruminations on the concepts of destiny and free will rather than the mind-bending questioning of reality and existence that dominated the OG's plot. People wanted the sequels to blow their minds the same way the original did, but the "everything is a simulation" twist was simply too big to duplicate, and instead they were given philosophical questions that left them wondering if anything really mattered.

    At what point did the Matrix films decide that the Matrix was a type of computer virus? It's clearly laid out what happened in the past, to get to the current Matrix (in the original, 2 and 3). Smith on the other hand, became a rogue program, that in the sequel, operated like a virus but that was just him, not the whole Matrix and the Robots and programs behind it.

    I love the Matrix franchise. The entire first movie set up the world - while at the same time giving us much to think about. However, by the end of the first movie it literally answered all of the questions and all that was left was the action. There was no way to make a sequel with the same kind of intrigue and mystery as the first.
    There are some parts of the sequels that are out of place, but the entire dance/sex sequence was like 2 minutes long out of 2 hours - they certainly didn’t focus on that aspect for the majority of the movie like was insinuated.

    I know many who didn't watched the second one cause they thought that the first one was already bad. 1 and a half hour long video where all you hear and see are close ups of sobbing people and chase seen that gives you motion sickness.

      Blair Witch Project is one of the very few found footage I actually liked. They built a very rich lore (there's a ton of supplementary material), and the hectic camera doesn't give away too much. The second one is a bad movie I actually like to throw on once every few years. There could've been some potential there (a lot of the neat concepts the director had originally) but the studio execs wrestled it away from the director and completely butchered it.

    One I'd mention is Spider-Man 3 which ruins the whole origin of Spider-Man by having it turn out that even if Peter had stopped the robber, it would've been him startling Flint Marko thus Uncle Ben dies no matter what Peter does. It's so stupid and all this because Sam Raimi foolishly thinks every single villain needs to be personally connected to Peter Parker. While it makes sense to do that with villains like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, and Curtis Connors/Lizard, it makes no sense to do it with a villain like Sand Man. Sand Man has nothing in common with Peter Parker. There shouldn't have been a connection between them. Also I feel like this would be a plot point even if Raimi had done the film his way with Vulture instead of Venom.

    Hannibal was hobbled by being based on - let's face it - a pretty sub-par book. The story goes that after Red Dragon - a masterpiece of its genre - and its much-underrated movie, Manhunter, and then Silence of the Lambs, an overrated but massively successful film, where the only thing Anthony Hopkins got to butcher was the role, Hollywood was desperate for a follow-up - and quick, to capitalise on the franchise's momentum - so they offered Thomas Harris a boatload of cash to write another book r i g h t n o w. Harris doesn't work that way, so they upped the ante and, basically, made him an offer he couldn't refuse. And so - Hannibal, a laughable book and even worse film. It did, however, provide Hopkins a chance to slice the ham e v e n thicker - something I for one thought impossible. It would take more than a nice Chianti to make this digestible.

    Hannibal is not the fail of the moviemakers....it's Thomas Harris' sequel-novel on which the movie is based.

  • @earlleeruhf3130
    @earlleeruhf3130 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Hannibal focused on Dr, Lector not because Jodie Foster refused to play Clarice again but because the film was based on the book by Thomas Harris all about Hannibal Lectors origin story. Also if Foster did reprise her role Clarice would no longer be an Innocence. Weekend at Bernies was about 2 days with a corpse. Did you expect the 2 guys to take Bernie to a cabin retreat the following weekend for more goofy fun? While quite silly n gross I enjoyed Terry Kiser's dancing skills. While Speed too may have been bad Speed was not really very good either. It had enough plot holes to drive a bus through. While Keanu Reeves saved 12 passengers on the bus it went on to blow up an airplane carrying 215 other people but hey, collateral damage.

    • @clnblk7773
      @clnblk7773 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wasn't the plane empty and just being towed across the tarmac? Where in Speed does it claim to have been full of passengers?

      @@clnblk7773 You got me. I was being silly. Yes the plane was empty and Reeves didn't intentionally crash the bus into the empty plane. It does seem like the plane company may have been rather upset at losing a miltimillion dollar airplane.

    Please! The live action Transformers movies started bad and just got worse. The characters of the robots were shallow, the action chaotic to the point of confusion, and the whole thing was just cinematic noise. If you want a good transformers movie then ignore the live action ones (ok, Bumblebee was alright) and watch Transformers One.

      Why don't you like "Found Footage" films?

    • @davidpumpkinsjr.5108
      @davidpumpkinsjr.5108 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @dhenderson1810 The role of the viewer is, by its nature, a passive one. We are meant to observe the story, but not interact. Despite this, a traditional visual narrative places us among the story, allowing us to place ourselves into the position of a character, still ultimately detached but empathetically invested. The found footage style places a additional barrier between the viewer and the narrative by way of an entirely impassive, sterile and disconnected point of view. In my opinion, it pulls me to far out of the story to have any emotional investment. I know others feel differentlyand i won't say that they are wrong, but that is where I stand on the subject.
